(AllHipHop News) Gucci Mane has not done very many interviews since his release from federal prison, but the Trap God sat down with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex for a one-on-one about losing weight, growing as a person, and his relationships with other artists.
According to Gucci, it was his practice of running up and down steps while locked up that led to his 80-pound weight loss.
The “1st Day Out Tha Feds” rhymer claimed he was able to “eat like the Mafia” because “money makes them shake.”
As he was serving his time, Gucci chose not to focus on what was taking place outside of those USP Terre Haute walls.
“My whole thing was to stay on point in here. Stay focused on here. Learn something from this,” the Atlanta native stated. “I just totally cut out the outside world and just focused on my family and me getting better.”
He continued, “I learned I don’t have the privilege to make another mistake or to blame or [make excuses]. I can’t say it was drugs. I know my vices now. I know if I do this, where it’s going to end up.”
Gucci was adamant that he is no longer using narcotics or alcohol. The Brick Squad boss explained why he is trying to live a clean life.
“I don’t do anything. Nothing. Absolutely nothing,” said Gucci. “It’s just like I don’t even want it no more because I associated it with jail. And I don’t want to go back to jail. I ain’t gonna front. I don’t want to go to prison.”
The 36-year-old added, “I had been to jail so many times, but prison was a whole different experience… It made me say, ‘Hey listen, I don’t want to come back here. Ever. I’ll change my whole life not to come back here.'”
In addition, Gucci also revealed he sold Young Thug’s record contract to Todd Moscowitz at 300 Entertainment to ensure his protegé got the best business situation. Thugger showed up on Gucci’s “Guwop Home” off Everybody Looking.
However, Nicki Minaj and Waka Flocka – other rap stars connected to Brick Squad early in their careers – have not spoken to Gucci in over a year.
