Hip-Hop producer Hi-Tek will be among an all-star panel of judges looking for the next big rapper at this year’s Scion Unsigned Emcee competition.
The contest, which begins April 9, offers independent rappers an opportunity to be seen and heard through a marketing push.
Contestants can submit demos to be judged by the Hi-Tek as well as Def Jam/Rocafella Records vice president A&R Lenny S. and Ryan Ford, executive editor of The Source magazine.
The emcee with the best flow will win a $75,000 marketing deal which includes a song produced by Hi-Tek, a fully produced music video and
other prizes.
This year marks the first time Scion has enlisted a
producer to make a song for the winner of the annual competition.
Contestants have until May 21 to submit demos. A winner will be announced July 30.
