Jamie Foxx Says His Last Movie “Sucked”

JAMIE FOXX: ‘MY LAST MOVIE SUCKED’ READ MORE!

(AllHipHop News) Jamie Foxx is happy to have a movie hit on his hands again after he confided to the audience at the Bet Awards on Sunday (25Jun17) that his last film “sucked.”

The “Ray” actor, who will next be seen in movie “Baby Driver” alongside Ansel Elgort, introduced a clip from the action comedy at the star-studded music event held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and the excited star gushed about how good it is before slamming his last movie as “bad.”

While he didn’t refer to the movie by name, Foxx was last seen in 2017 flick “Sleepless” in which he played undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs in a race against time to catch the criminals behind the kidnapping of his teenage son (Octavius J. Johnson).

Prior to that was 2014’s “Annie” reboot.

“I can’t wait to tell you about that joint ‘Baby Driver!’ It’s crazy, it’s cool, and it ain’t a typical film. It brings a thrill ride, so everybody can experience it,” the 49-year-old smiled to the audience. “And it’s good too! It ain’t like that last joint I had.”

The audience seemed surprised by Fox’s off the cuff candour, but he just laughed and continued, adding: “I know, it’s tough. It’s tough when you still gotta promote it.

“You know it’s bad when they don’t ask you nothing about the movie like, ‘Man that jacket you was wearing is tight,'” he continued. “Yeah, I know it sucked.”

Critic James White of film bible Empire Magazine wrote of the movie at the time: “Less sleepless, more insomnia cure. For all its attempts at action, it’s a rote, dull crime thriller with little fresh to offer.”

Foxx is clearly determined not to have another flop on his hands, and the Oscar winner urged fans to go see “Baby Driver” when the action flick is released on June 28.

While on the silver carpet at the awards he heaped more praise on the movie, telling Entertainment Tonight it has a 100 percent score on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes.

“Everywhere we premiere it has been gangbusters,” he told ET. “It’s good to have a good one. You know, it’s hard when you’re out there promoting and you know it stinks. I’ve had a couple of them where I just know it stinks.”
