Rapper Jason Fox has been signed to Jermaine Dupri’s Island Urban Music label based on the success of his hit song and dance “Aunt Jackie.”
Fox, 21, created the old-school song and dance that has quickly become a street sensation.
The Harlem native’s song “Aunt Jackie” has received over 150,000 plays on his Myspace page, alongside over 275,000 views of his video on YouTube.
“I think we’re seeing the life of hip-hop coming back with songs like ‘Aunt Jackie,” Jermaine Dupri said of his new artist’s#### song and dance. “It’s the kids acting like kids used to act when I was growing up, and I love it because, to me, hip-hop has been ‘too-cool-for-school’ lately. It’s time for a change.”
The track has officially been released to mainstream urban radio stations, and a professional music video is in the works, according to Island Urban Music representatives.
