Canadian rapper Kardinall
Offishall and Dan-E-O have teamed with RadioShack Canada and Reebok to launch
the RBK Streetball Edition Motorola C350 cellphone.
The duo shot commercials
for the phone, which comes with an RBK Streetball Edition faceplate, a free
Reebok DJ bag, and a discount coupon at Foot Locker.
The advertisements
are aimed at increasing RadioShack’s exposure in the urban youth market in Canada.
"This promotion
and new advertising campaign takes us in a radically new direction," said
Lyndsay Walter, VP Advertising at RadioShack. "The urban youth market represents
a whole new customer base for RadioShack and we wanted to communicate in a way
that resonates with them. This market doesn’t just want phones that ring and
make calls. In addition to all those requisite phone functions, they want to
play games, send text messages and personalize their wireless communicators."
In related news,
Kardinall Offishall is almost finished recording his latest album, Firestarter
Vol.2: The F-Word Theory.
The album features
guest appearances from Bounty Killer, Busta Rhymes, Spragga Benz, Timbaland,
The Neptunes, Nottz and others.
Offishall also
has a feature role in the movie "Love, Sex & Eating The Bones,"
which will premiere this weekend at the Toronto Film Festival.
