Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN’ Listed As Most Commercially Successful Album Of 2017 So Far

ED SHEERAN, BRUNO MARS, MIGOS, FUTURE & POST MALONE ARE HAVING BIG YEARS TOO

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN is the top album on Nielsen Music’s mid-year report.

The Top Dawg Entertainment release collected 1,772,000 sales plus streaming units in the first six months of 2017.

DAMN is followed by Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) with 1,749,000 units.

Other Hip Hop projects in the top ten of the album compensation mid-year tally include Drake’s More Life (#3 – 1,693,000), Migos’ Culture (#5 – 1,002,000), Future’s Future (#8 – 760,000), and Post Malone’s Stoney (#10 – 711,000).

Bruno Mars’ 24k Magic (#4 – 1,110,000) and The Weeknd’s Starboy (#6 – 981,000) make the list as well.

÷ (Divide) tops the album sales chart with 743,000 copies sold, and DAMN comes in second with 678,000 copies sold.

24k Magic lands in third place with 494,000 copies.

More Life sold 343,000 copies to earn the #9 spot for 2017 so far.

On the singles side, Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” leads the mid-year chart with 4,532,000 sales plus streaming units.

The top ten also includes Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like” (#3 – 3,117,000), Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” (#4 – 3,003,000), Migos & Lil Uzi Vert’s “Bad And Boujee” (#5 – 2,779,000), Future’s “Mask Off” (#6 – 2,706,000), Kyle & Lil Yachty’s “iSpy” (#7 – 2,544,000), and Post Malone & Quavo’s “Congratulations” (#8 – 2,412,000).

“Shape Of You” was the most streamed song (689,756,000 total audio and video streams).

“Bad And Boujee” was streamed 648,129,000 times for second place.

“That’s What I Like” (#4 – 522,071,000) and “Humble” (#5 – 519,887,000) also make the top five on the On-Demand Streaming chart.

The 6 through 10 spots are filled by “Mask Off” (#6 – 505,473,000), “iSpy” (#7 – 494,113,000), “Congratulations” (#8 – 483,252,000), Lil Uzi Vert’s “Xo Tour Llif3” (#9 – 474,220,000), and Kodak Black’s “Tunnel Vision” (#10 – 388,186,000).

In addition, R&B/Hip Hop is the top genre in the categories of Total Album + Tea + Sea (25.1%), Digital Song Sales (21.5%), Total On-Demand Streams (29.1%), Audio On-Demand Streams (30.3%), and Video On-Demand Streams (26.9%).
