Killer Mike is reflecting on the long-awaited truce between Young Thug and YFN Lucci, two of Atlanta’s most polarizing rap figures whose nearly decade-long beef finally came to a close after both served time behind bars.
Speaking on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, the Grammy-winning rapper and activist revealed that he and T.I. tried to mediate the conflict years ago, but their efforts were ignored.
“Violence is not good for money,” Mike said. “You guys who think that you run the streets — God bless our souls ’cause I been one of those guys — we don’t run s###.”
The feud, which erupted in 2015 after Lucci’s manager was allegedly killed by affiliates of Young Thug’s YSL crew, escalated into one of the most publicized rap rivalries in Atlanta.
It spiraled into social media threats and eventually criminal charges. Lucci was arrested in January 2021 for alleged involvement in a drive-by shooting.
Thug was taken into custody in May 2022 on RICO charges tied to an alleged criminal organization.
Killer Mike said “very powerful people” asked him and T.I. to step in and convince both artists to “cut the b#######,” but the warnings didn’t stop either from landing in prison.

After Young Thug and YFN Lucci’s respective releases in late 2024 and early 2025, something shifted. Instead of reigniting the feud, the two rappers chose collaboration over conflict.
Young Thug featured Lucci on his track “Whaddup Jesus,” while Lucci returned the favor with “Still Waiting” on his own album.

YFN Lucci explained the change of heart during a SiriusXM interview.
“We been through a lot,” he said. “Everybody lost people. We lost people. Most important, we lost our time. We had to be away from our family.”
He added, “Come home, it’s like, damn, what the hell can a n#### do to grow? We gon’ keep doing this s### and end up back in jail… or we gon’ fix this s### and make [it] look good for the A?”

Killer Mike praised their decision to move forward, calling it a smart shift in priorities.
“I just want to tell the athletes and the entertainers to take yourself more seriously than the homies around you take you,” he said. “‘Cause they want you to be the top of the streets, and I’m telling you, you can be top of the suites if you play it right.”
Both rappers dropped new projects on September 26. Young Thug released UY SCUTI and YFN Lucci unveiled ALREADY LEGEND, each featuring the other as a guest artist—a clear signal that the beef is behind them.
