(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne is the first subject of Hulu’s new virtual reality docu-series On Stage.
The music-based show premiered on the streaming service’s VR app and can also be viewed on the main Hulu site.
Wayne’s episode follows the Young Money boss as he prepares for his annual Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans.
On Stage is being produced with concert promotion company Live Nation.
“Virtual reality is an entirely new medium, and On Stage is a first-of-its-kind premium music experience,” stated Noah Heller, Hulu’s vice president of emerging technology. “Our partnership with Live Nation … has allowed us to create an experience where you, the fan, are on the stage for the performance, and backstage with the artist.”
Other Hip Hop acts have presented VR content as well.
In 2015, Boston emcee M-Dot released his “123 Flow” video as an interactive 360° experience.
Run The Jewels debuted the “Crown” music video via The New York Times‘ NYT VR app in March of last year.
The NYT VR app also hosts a vid with The Internet band.
Last fall, Childish Gambino added a VR performance of his single “Me And Your Mama” to the PHAROS Earth app.
The second episode of Hulu’s On Stage will feature Major Lazer.
