Migos fans have been waiting for the trio’s third official studio album since the 2x-Platinum-certified Culture II arrived in January 2018. There were signs that Culture III was dropping in 2020, but the third installment did not make it to DSPs over the last 12 months.
This week, the group uploaded a video showing Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff recording new music during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine period. The Instagram caption reads, “The Process Of 3. Take Em Back To The Day To Day @migos Lifestyle. Take This Journey With Us! The Album Is Coming.”
Following the release of Culture in 2017 and Culture II a year later, each of the Migos members began working on solo efforts. Quavo’s Quavo Huncho and Takeoff’s The Last Rocket came out in 2018. Offset presented Father of 4 in 2019. He also spent part of 2020 campaigning for Democratic candidates in Georgia.
“We were absent for a reason though. How we were putting so much music out, you could flood the market. With everything going on, I’ve never been so political in my life. I got my first time to vote this year. And that comes from just seeing everything happening in the world,” stated Offset in the IG clip.
Migos’ “The Process Of 3” video also featured footage from Black Lives Matter protests against racial inequalities as well as the January 6 MAGA Insurrection at the United States Capitol. Quavo’s girlfriend Saweetie and Offset’s wife Cardi B made brief cameos in the teaser too.
