Orlando Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick will soon become the latest basketball player with his own unnamed rap group.
According to Redick, hes part of a rap super group that will release a new single before the end of the year titled Waste Management.
Were working on a rap CD, Redick revealed. We actually havent come up with a name from the group, were throwing around some ideas right now.
Redick listed a number of potential names for his new rap crew, including Sub-par, Afterthought and No-Profits.
The chorus has been written and the first verse and the direction were heading on the song has to deal with waste management, Redick elaborated. Were not taking ourselves to seriously. We have some influences, and when you hear our sound eventually, youll pick up right away.
Redick said he was hoping to have the single released virally and that the track could be released before the end of 2009.
Were hoping the single drops before the new year, but we have a pretty full time job, so we dont have a whole lot of time to work on a rap album right now, Redick said.
Other NBA players who have released rap albums include Ron Artest, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille ONeal.
