Prince’s Sister Hit With A Lien Over Hundreds Of Thousands In Legal Bills

A law firm claims Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson is refusing to pay up on a very big legal bill.

(AllHipHop News) Lawyers for Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson have reportedly filed a lien over her portion of her late brother’s estate until she pays off debts she owes.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Tyka owes law firm Cozen O’Connor LLP over $100,000 in legal fees for their services, in representing her and dealing with the “Purple Rain” singer’s estate.

Now, in a bid to secure their compensation, the company intends to hold a lien over her portion of the funds left behind by the musician until they are fully reimbursed.

In the papers, it is stated the law firms “intends to hold a lien upon Tyka Nelson’s interest in the Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson, including any right to receive payments, property, proceeds, money or value of any kind, for agreed compensation for such services as were rendered by Cozen O’Connor respecting Tyka Nelson’s interest in the Estate.

“As of this date, the unpaid legal services and costs total $118,280.31 exclusive of any costs of collection. This amount does not include any fees and costs that Cozen O’Connor was awarded by the Court for work that benefitted the Estate.”

A Minnesota judge presiding over Prince’s estate case found Tyka owes $850,000 to three separate law firms working on the estate case and ordered her to settle her debts.
