has settled a lawsuit filed

against him by music publishing company Brumley& Sons, over

his tribute to Biggie Smalls, I’ll Be Missing You. The object

of the dispute was Puff’s use of eight words from the 1929 gospel

song, I’ll Fly Away, which was composed in 1929 by Albert Brumley

while he was picking cotton. I’ll Fly Away is one of the most

recorded gospel songs. I’ll Be Missing You which was released

in 1997, earned Puff a Grammy Award. The terms of the settlement

were not disclosed.
