Rappers Kanye West and The Beastie Boys have teamed with over 100 other celebrities who will design lunch boxes to raise money for two non-profit hunger relief organizations.
Kanye West, The Beastie Boys, Gwyneth Paltrow, Yoko Ono, Elton John, John Mayer, Zac Posen Mike Myers and hundreds of others will create personalized lunchboxes, which will be auctioned off online to benefit the Food Bank For New York City and The Lunchbox Fund of South Africa.
The Food Bank For New York City is a major supplier of food for 1.3 million New Yorkers, while The Lunchbox Fund is a non-profit organization that provides lunch to school children in South Africa.
“I’m honored to once again be a part of The Lunchbox Auction,” said comedian Mike Myers. “The Lunchbox Fund and Food Bank For New York City have created a wonderful way to raise money and awareness about hunger and poverty in South Africa and New York.”
Each Lunchbox reflects the artist’s personal expression, no two lunchboxes are alike and each lunchbox is signed and numbered.
The Lunchbox Auction will go live on Friday, December 7 at 12:00 AM during a star-studded, invitation only fundraiser party, hosted by REM front man Michael Stipe at Saatchi & Saatchi in New York.
The auction will be conducted at www.thelunchboxauction.org and will run through Friday, December 21, 2007.
