(AllHipHop News) Philly hip-hop band The Roots have announced the lineup for their 10th Annual Roots Picnic.
This year, the band will back Pharrell for the headlining set of the evening, while Lil Wayne, Solange, 21 Savage will play as co-headliners.
“We had to come correct for our 10th annual,” Black Thought said. “Y’all already? It’s going to be special.”
In addition to the aforementioned musicians, Pete Rock, PnB Rock and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie will serve as performers throughout the day.
Additionally, Black Thought and DJ J. Period will exhibit a “live mixtape” featuring Fat Joe, Mobb Deep, and Scott Storch.
“Ten years ago this started as a concept, an idea, a conversation between me, Tarik (Black Thought), Ahmir (Questlove) and Rich (Nichols),” sayid Shawn Gee, Roots longtime manager and partner in Maverick Management.
“It’s amazing that it has grown into such a valued piece of the cultural landscape of our hometown of Philadelphia. We were blessed to expand the Picnic to New York City last year, and the brand will continue to grow and evolve, but Philly will ALWAYS be the home, the birthplace of the Roots Picnic,” Shawn Gee continued. “We are super excited to bring a packed lineup to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and as always there will be plenty of surprises and special guests.”
The 10th Annual Roots Picnic is scheduled for Saturday, June 30 at the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia.
