Tavis Smiley’s Book About Michael Jackson’s Last Days To Become A TV Show

THE AUTHOR/HOST INKED A DEAL WITH WARNER BROS TELEVISION GROUP

(AllHipHop News) The final weeks of Michael Jackson’s life will be airing as a television show. Deadline reports Warner Bros. Television Group inked an exclusive multi-year development and production pod deal with political commentator/author Tavis Smiley.

The PBS host will have his book Before You Judge Me: The Triumph And Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days turned into a TV series. Acclaimed director J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions is helping to develop the program.

Another Smiley biography is also set to be converted to the small screen. The Mississippi native’s memoir about his relationship with noted poet Maya Angelou, My Journey With Maya, is part of the Warner Bros development deal as well.

Smiley currently serves as the host of Tavis Smiley on PBS and The Tavis Smiley Show on PRI. He has also written the books How to Make Black America Better: Leading African Americans Speak Out, What I Know for Sure: My Story of Growing Up in America, and The Rich and the Rest of Us: A Poverty Manifesto with Dr. Cornel West.
