Rapper Game is helping make history by raising funds for a teen aiming to become the youngest African-American pilot to fly around the world.
The Dreams star took to Instagram earlier this week to share the story of 16-year-old aviator Isaiah Cooper, who is hoping to raise $45,000 to fund his flight around the world.
If he meets his goal, he will become the youngest person to fly solo around the globe at the age of 18.
The Hip-Hop star, real name Jayceon Taylor, revealed he donated $1,000 to the cause, and urged his followers to make any contribution they can, writing:
“If 49,000 people donated $1 we’d reach his goal in 1 hour…. I DONATED the 1st $1,000 & I’m up early & in a good supportive mood this morning & I hope you are too.”
Earlier this month, Game showed off his philanthropic side once again by calling on fans to donate money for a police officer in Arkansas, as well as two young fans struggling to pay for their mother’s funeral, and he’s hoping they can rally together again for a good cause.
“TOGETHER WE MAKE S**T HAPPEN over here,” he wrote. “So I will ask ALL MY FANS or just any person with a heart to pay it forward TODAY & DONATE any amount from as small as $1… It takes us ALL to support one another…… IF YOU CARE & WANT TO BE APART OF THE SOLUTION, SHOW IT.”
Cooper, who is also from Game’s hometown of Compton, California, writes on his GoFundMe page that he has been attending the Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum (TAM)’s aviation youth program since he was five years old, and described how the organization truly saved his life.
“As I got older, I began hanging with the wrong crowd, doing seriously self destructive things,” Cooper explained. “Realizing that this was not how I wanted to live my life, I returned to TAM. My main goal is to become a productive young man with a future in aviation, and not a statistic.”
The high school student already made history last week (July 18) as the youngest African-American to pilot an airplane around the continental United States.
He flew from Compton across the U.S. to Maine and back again.
