Dave Chappelle Roasts DJ Khaled Over Palestine Silence

During a recent performance, comedian Dave Chappelle took aim at Palestinian-American artist DJ Khaled for his silence on the ongoing war in Gaza. The moment, at a sold-out Etihad Arena as part of Abu Dhabi Comedy Season, was sparked when an audience member shouted out Khaled’s name.

Chappelle responded with biting humor.

“DJ Khaled, let me tell you something,” he began. “For a Palestinian, this man is awfully quiet right now. And as a Palestinian, how could you be that quiet right now? And why are you so fat? People are starving. He’s the only fat Palestinian on Earth right now.”

Chappelle’s remarks touched on a criticism that has been circulating for months. In February 2024, DJ Khaled’s cousin, Fadie Musallet, publicly expressed disappointment over the producer’s silence. Many human rights groups have called the destruction of Palestine a humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza.

“There’s no reason, there’s no excuse when you’re actually a Palestinian,” Musallet said during an interview. “For me, my mother lives there. We’re from the same village, same families. So, there’s no excuse… I do a lot of work with refugee camps, raise money for Gaza and the West Bank. I put my heart into this.”

Chappelle has been outspoken about the suffering of Palestinians since the Israel-Gaza war reignited in 2023. During a 2023 performance in Abu Dhabi, he called Israel’s actions “genocide,” receiving cheers from the crowd.

Chappelle used a January 2024 appearance on Saturday Night Live to urge the president, before the re-election, to show empathy toward Palestinians.

In his most recent UAE appearance, Chappelle didn’t directly address the conflict. He also stated he has to be more cautious than in the past, include his criticism of Trump.

“Now that I’m a big powerful voice in America, I’ve learned that I have to be careful,” he said. “I can get in some kind of trouble and they’ll try to extort me and put words in my mouth. So if that ever happens, we need a phrase—something I’d never say—so that if I say it, you know not to listen to anything I say after that. You ready? The phrase is: I stand with Israel.

Diddy Deliberations Day 2: Jurors Question Drug Dealing, Cassie Ventura & Freak-Offs

A jury continues to contemplate the fate of Diddy during the second day of deliberations on Tuesday (July 1) in his federal racketeering and sex trafficking case.

Today, jurors zeroed in on drug distribution and disturbing sexual misconduct claims involving Cassie Ventura and a sex worker.

The 12-person panel sent five notes to the judge, including one asking for clarification on whether handing someone drugs at their request constitutes distribution.

That question came after jurors reviewed testimony involving alleged drug use and exchanges tied to Diddy’s inner circle.

Jurors also requested transcripts from Ventura and Daniel Phillip, a sex worker who testified about being hired for so-called “freak offs” — group sex encounters allegedly arranged by Diddy and Ventura.

One note specifically asked for Ventura’s account of a 2016 incident at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, her time with Diddy at the Cannes Film Festival, and her descriptions of the “freak offs” involving Phillip.

Phillip’s testimony about a separate “freak off” at the Essex Hotel was also flagged for review, signaling the jury’s interest in verifying details of the alleged sex trafficking scheme.

Diddy, who has pleaded not guilty, faces five federal charges: racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution.

If convicted, the Hip-Hop mogul could face a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison.

On Monday, the jury deliberated for about five hours. Early in the session, they raised concerns about one juror’s ability to follow legal instructions. The judge responded by reminding the panel of their duty to adhere to the law as instructed.

Later that day, the jury submitted another note seeking legal guidance on the definition of drug distribution, asking whether someone who gives a controlled substance to another person upon request is legally considered a distributor.

The jury’s pointed questions suggest they are dissecting key elements of the prosecution’s case, particularly the alleged use of drugs to facilitate sex trafficking and the credibility of witness accounts.

Deliberations are expected to continue this week, with no timeline yet for a verdict.

Bob Vylan Speaks Out After U.S. Visa Ban: “We Are Being Targeted For Speaking Up”

Bob Vylan lost their U.S. visas and a major tour after chants at Glastonbury Festival drew accusations of hate speech and sparked international backlash.

The British punk-rap duo, known for their politically charged performances, had their American travel privileges revoked following their June 29 set at Glastonbury, where they led the crowd in chants including “Free, free Palestine” and “Death, death to the IDF.”

The U.S. State Department called the remarks “a hateful tirade” and said the group would not be allowed to enter the country.

“The State Department has revoked the US visas for the members of the Bob Vylan band in light of their hateful tirade at Glastonbury, including leading the crowd in death chants,” Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau posted on Monday (June 30). “Foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.”

The fallout was swift. The BBC, which broadcast the performance, issued a statement saying, “The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves.” Prime Minister Keir Starmer also condemned the act, calling it “appalling hate speech.” UK police have since opened a criminal probe into the performance for possible hate crime and public order violations.

The group, made up of members Bobby and Bobbie, was scheduled to kick off a U.S. tour in October 2025. That tour is now off the table. Their booking agency, United Talent Agency, also dropped them from its roster.

Bob Vylan: “WE ARE A DISTRACTION FROM THE STORY”

Despite the mounting criticism, Bob Vylan stood by their message. On Tuesday (July 1), they released a statement addressing the controversy head-on.

“NOT THE FIRST. NOT THE LAST,” the statement began. “TODAY, A GOOD MANY PEOPLE WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE A PUNK BAND IS THE NUMBER ONE THREAT TO WORLD PEACE. LAST WEEK IT WAS A PALESTINE PRESSURE GROUP, THE WEEK BEFORE THAT IT WAS ANOTHER BAND.”

They continued, “WE ARE NOT FOR THE DEATH OF JEWS, ARABS OR ANY OTHER RACE OR GROUP OF PEOPLE. WE ARE FOR THE DISMANTLING OF A VIOLENT MILITARY MACHINE. A MACHINE WHOSE OWN SOLDIERS WERE TOLD TO USE ‘UNNECESSARY LETHAL FORCE’ AGAINST INNOCENT CIVILIANS WAITING FOR AID. A MACHINE THAT HAS DESTROYED MUCH OF GAZA.”

The duo argued that the attention on them was a distraction from larger issues. “WE, LIKE THOSE IN THE SPOTLIGHT BEFORE US, ARE NOT THE STORY. WE ARE A DISTRACTION FROM THE STORY. AND WHATEVER SANCTIONS WE RECEIVE WILL BE A DISTRACTION.”

They closed the statement with a call to action: “WE ARE BEING TARGETED FOR SPEAKING UP. WE ARE NOT THE FIRST. WE WILL NOT BE THE LAST. AND IF YOU CARE FOR THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH, WE URGE YOU TO SPEAK UP, TOO. FREE PALESTINE.”

On Instagram, the group’s lead vocalist previously doubled down with a short message: “I said what I said.” Another post read, “Teaching our children to speak up for the change they want and need is the only way that we make this world a better place.”

Squid Game Season 3: Cast & Director Share BTS Details, Insights In Exclusive Interview

Squid Game took the world by storm in 2021, becoming Netflix’s most-watched series of all time with over 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first month. The Korean survival drama captivated audiences with its brutal social commentary, stunning visuals, and unforgettable characters. Now, after a global phenomenon and multiple Emmy wins, Squid Game returns with a highly anticipated third season.

AllHipHop caught up with actor Lee Byung-hun, best known for his role as a masked enforcer in the series, director Hwang Dong-hyuk and star Lee Jung-jae (Player 456, Gi-hun). From slipping back into the signature red wig to the psychological depth of characters like Gi-hun and the mysterious Front Man, the team dives deep into what’s next.

With season three promising higher stakes, fans are eager to see how the story expands. The cast reveals how fan’s energy helped shape the new season. Interviewer D-Nellz digs deep to offer rare insight into the minds behind one of the most captivating shows of the decade.

AllHipHop: It’s an honor to speak with you all today. Let’s keep things light and spoiler-free. First off, how did it feel to return to the world of Squid Game and begin filming again?

Lee Jung-jae (Actor): The first scene I filmed this season was with the red wig and I just couldn’t believe I was wearing it again. I remember laughing a lot in the makeup trailer. It felt surreal. Of course, this all began with Director Hwang’s vision, but I also think the energy and love from the fans played a huge part in bringing us back. I’m really grateful for that. So I put the wig on and gave it my all.

AllHipHop: As both actors and creators, Squid Game received a massive wave of global attention. Did that impact your creative mindset or add pressure coming into Season 2?

Hwang Dong-hyuk (Director): Absolutely, there was pressure. The show became a global phenomenon, and expectations were incredibly high. But instead of letting that stress me out, I made a conscious effort to turn it into confidence. When we made Season 1, I was filled with doubt—wondering if people would resonate with the story at all. But once I saw how much they embraced it, I realized they connected with the message I wanted to share. That gave me the confidence to tell Season 2 the way I truly wanted, believing that audiences would respond if I stayed authentic.

AllHipHop: Let’s talk about two of the show’s most complex characters, Gi-hun and the Front Man. Without spoiling anything, what should fans expect from their clash in Season 2?

Lee Byung-hun (The Front Man): Gi-hun and the Front Man actually followed very similar paths. Both were players in the game. Both witnessed betrayal, death, and were forced into situations where they had to take others’ lives. But what’s fascinating is that they ended up in completely opposite places. Gi-hun still believes in humanity and holds onto hope, while the Front Man has turned into a pessimist.

When they confront each other this season, you’ll see that the Front Man still has a faint spark of humanity inside him. As I played him, I really tried to convey that internal struggle. It’s not spelled out directly in the script, but if you look closely, I think viewers will sense that even the Front Man might secretly hope Gi-hun is right.

AllHipHop: Thank you so much for your time. We can’t wait to see how fans react to this new season.

Cast & Team: Thank you!

Chrisean Rock Faces Off With Tia Kemp In Heated Livestream Clash

Chrisean Rock and Tia Kemp went head-to-head in a profanity-laced livestream early Tuesday (July 1), reigniting a long-running feud that’s been simmering for months over parenting, personal jabs and social media shade.

Kemp, the mother of Rick Ross’ eldest son and co-host of a podcast with Karlissa Saffold—who is Blueface’s mom—jumped on TikTok Live around 1 a.m. after receiving multiple calls from Rock. The call didn’t go over well.

“Hoe, you gone’ respect me and Karlissa, b####!” Kemp shouted into the camera. “Go take care of your muthafuckin baby, hoe.”

Rock, who was on the other end of the line, replied, “You don’t know me.”

Kemp fired back, adding, “Since you done threatened me, pull up!”

Kemp then warned Rock not to come to Miami, saying, “I’m gone flatline your p#### ass.” Rock ended the call, but Kemp kept going, continuing to curse her out on the livestream.

Chrisean Rock & Tia Kemp Go Back & Forth

The late-night blowup is just the latest chapter in a feud that’s dragged on since 2024. Kemp has repeatedly criticized Rock’s parenting, especially when it comes to her young son’s health and development.

“She need to get this baby some help,” Kemp said in a previous video. “She need to get herself some help.”

Kemp said, “It’s making me mad that this baby can’t run, get down, and walk, and I’m looking at him right here. It’s clear that something is wrong with him. So why she ain’t taking this baby to get some help.”

On Sunday (June 30), Kemp escalated things by threatening to call Child Protective Services, accusing Rock of smoking and drinking around her child.

Rock clapped back, accusing Kemp of chasing relevance and being hypocritical.

“You already did this before. Auntie! And you nobody’s f###### aunt. We don’t know you,” she said. “”Stop passing judgment. Stop speaking on me, for real.”

Rock also referenced Kemp’s own family issues, saying, “You’re sitting here talking about my kid when yours got stabbed for running the streets like a gangster?”

Drake’s Legal Team Accuses UMG Of Hiding Artist Exploitation As Defamation Case Heats Up

Drake is arguing Universal Music Group (UMG) is trying to dodge public accountability for what they call a pattern of mistreatment toward artists following a hearing on the label’s motion to dismiss the rapper’s defamation lawsuit.

Drake’s attorneys allege UMG has long avoided scrutiny by keeping its alleged misconduct behind closed doors, but a trial would drag those actions into the light.

“UMG is desperate to see this case not move forward because the company can’t hide its misconduct in a courtroom the way it does in the boardroom,” a spokesperson for Drake told AllHipHop. “Soon, in addition to facing concerned regulators and investors, the leadership of music’s most powerful label will have to answer for the damage it has caused to every artist that has been silenced, exploited, endangered or discarded.”

UMG Push For Judge To Toss Drake’s Lawsuit

Drake’s legal team urged a judge to let his defamation lawsuit proceed at the hearing on Monday (June 30).

The case stems from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” which includes the lyric “certified pedophile” — a line Drake claims caused serious reputational harm and was amplified by UMG.

UMG’s lawyers defended the track as part of Hip-Hop’s tradition of over-the-top lyrical sparring. “Trash-talking in the extreme,” they argued, “is not, and should not be treated as, statements of fact.”

UMG also pushed back by pointing out that Drake has used similarly aggressive language in his own music and willingly engaged in a rap battle with Lamar. Neither artist appeared in court.

Judge Jeannette Vargas did not issue a ruling but raised questions about how the average listener interprets lyrics in the genre. “Who is the ordinary listener?” she asked. “Is it someone who’s going to catch all those references? There’s so much specialized and nuanced to these lyrics.”

Drake’s legal team also accused UMG of manipulating streaming data for “Not Like Us” by using bots to inflate numbers, a move they say hurts all artists by reducing per-stream payouts.

Donald Trump Considers Deporting Elon Musk Over Explosive Subsidy Feud

Donald Trump took a swipe at Elon Musk on Tuesday (July 1), suggesting he might consider booting the tech mogul from the United States over their escalating feud and a heated battle over government subsidies.

When asked by reporters whether he’d actually deport Musk, Trump didn’t rule it out.

“We’ll have to take a look,” he said before adding a bizarre jab: “We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies.”

Musk didn’t hold back either. Responding to a clip of Trump’s remarks, he tweeted, “So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.”

The tension between the two billionaires has been building for weeks, with Trump firing off a warning on Truth Social Monday night (June 30).

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” Trump wrote. “No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.”

Trump also called for Musk’s former department, the Government Performance and Accountability Office—nicknamed DOGE—to investigate the subsidies Musk’s companies receive. “Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this?” Trump wrote. “BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”

Elon Musk Threatens To Launch New Political Party If Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Passes

The latest spat comes after Musk publicly slammed Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” a tax and spending proposal that Musk labeled a “disgusting abomination.”

Musk has threatened to fund primary challengers against any Republican who supports the legislation.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” Musk wrote. “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

He also floated launching a new political party if the bill becomes law. “If this outrageous spending bill is enacted,” he wrote, “the America Party will be established the very next day.”

Despite having poured more than $275 million into supporting Trump and other GOP candidates, Musk is now threatening to shift his financial firepower to defeat Republicans backing the bill.

He’s also thrown his support behind lawmakers like Rep. Thomas Massie, who opposed it.

Trump, meanwhile, hinted that Musk’s real issue is the bill’s removal of electric vehicle and solar subsidies. Musk has denied that’s his main concern, but Trump isn’t buying it.

The back-and-forth between the two billionaires shows no signs of cooling. For now, Musk remains in the U.S.—and still tweeting.

Beyoncé Fans Fire Back After Country Artist Tries To Gatekeep “Cowboy Carter”

Beyoncé fans are coming for Gavin Adcock, who fired up controversy during a recent concert when he took aim at the 35-time Grammy winner and her chart-topping album Cowboy Carter at a recent show.

“There’s only three people in front of me on the Apple Music country charts,” Adcock told the crowd. “And one of ’em is Beyoncé. You can tell her we’re coming for her f#####’ ass.”

He followed up with, “That s### ain’t country music, and it ain’t never been country music, and it ain’t never gonna be country music.”

After the uproar, Adcock tried to explain his stance on Instagram, saying he grew up listening to Beyoncé and even praised her Super Bowl performance. “When I was a little kid, my mama was blasting some Beyoncé in the car. I’ve heard a ton of Beyoncé songs, and I actually remember her Super Bowl Halftime Show being pretty kick-ass back in the day,” he wrote. “But I really don’t believe her album should be labeled as country music. It doesn’t sound country, it doesn’t feel country, and I just don’t think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top just because she’s Beyoncé.”

He ended his caption with a blunt summary: “It just isn’t country.”

Beyhive Drag Gavin Adcock Over Beyoncé Rant

The Georgia-born country artist’s remarks quickly ignited a wave of backlash online, with social media users accusing him of gatekeeping and some claiming his remarks were rooted in racism.

One Instagram user wrote, “If it wasn’t for mentioning Beyoncé none of us would even know you. That was a local bar you were at? She’s at ARENAS (sold out) singing COUNTRY.”

Another added, “It takes 5 minutes of research to find out who created country music. Just because you gentrify it, doesn’t make it yours nor the authority figure of who can create music under said genre.”

A third person pointed out the racial double standard in genre-crossing, saying, “Black folks didn’t say things like this about Sam Smith, Adele, Pink, Eminem, Paul Wall, Bubba Sparks, Post Malone and all the ones before them when they hit the R&B and rap charts. Why all the hate?”

Despite Adcock’s criticism, Cowboy Carter continues to dominate the country charts and streaming platforms.

Still, Beyoncé received no nominations at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards, reigniting debates about racial bias and exclusion in the genre.

However Cowboy Carter won best County Album and Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards

This isn’t the first time Beyoncé has faced resistance from the country music world. Her 2016 CMA performance of “Daddy Lessons” was met with similar pushback, and the song was later denied entry into Grammy country categories.

Addressing that history directly, Beyoncé said, “[Cowboy Carter] was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t.”

She added, “But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.”

Drake Vs. UMG: Label Claims “Trash-Talking” Central To Rap Battles

Drake’s defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” returned to court Monday (June 30) for a hearing on the label’s motion to dismiss.

The federal hearing in New York focused on whether Lamar’s “certified pedophile” line crossed a legal line, NBC News reports.

Drake’s legal team argued UMG amplified the song’s reach, damaging his reputation by promoting defamatory content to a massive audience.

UMG pushed back, insisting the diss track falls squarely within the long-standing Hip-Hop tradition of exaggerated lyrical jabs.

“What you hear in these rap battles is trash-talking in the extreme, and it is not, and should not be treated as, statements of fact,” UMG’s attorney told the court.

Judge Jeannette Vargas didn’t issue a ruling but pressed both sides on how the average listener might interpret the lyrics.

“Who is the ordinary listener? Is it someone who’s going to catch all those references?” she asked, adding, “There’s so much specialized and nuanced to these lyrics.”

Neither Kendrick Lamar nor Drake appeared in court.

Drake’s lawsuit alleges that UMG’s promotion of “Not Like Us” caused reputational harm, while UMG counters that Drake willingly participated in the lyrical feud.

Additionally, the label claims Drake has used similarly aggressive language in his own music.

The case also veers into the murky world of digital streaming.

Drake’s Attorneys Argue UMG Artificially Boosting Streams Costs Artists

Attorney Moe Gangat, known for his Instagram account @lawyerforworkers, attended the hearing and said Drake’s legal team accused UMG of using bots and other artificial methods to inflate streaming numbers.

According to Gangat, Drake’s lawyers argued this manipulation reduces per-stream payouts for artists because algorithms detect fake traffic.

Judge Vargas asked whether this issue would affect all artists signed to labels using such tactics. Drake’s team agreed it would.

Gangat suggested this could open the door for more artists to challenge the industry over revenue lost to artificial streaming inflation.

A post shared by Moe Gangat (@lawyerforworkers)

The judge has not yet ruled on whether the lyrics in question could be seen as defamatory by a typical listener.

Meanwhile, the discovery phase continues, granting Drake’s legal team access to UMG’s internal records, including Kendrick Lamar’s contract.

Remy Ma Detained After Explosive Courthouse Clash With Murder Victim’s Daughter

Remy Ma was hauled off in handcuffs after a heated confrontation erupted on the steps of a New York City courthouse between the rapper and daughter of the man her son is accused of killing.

The tense moment unfolded Tuesday (July 1) outside the Queens courthouse, where her 23-year-old son, Jayson “Jace” Scott, is facing murder charges tied to a 2021 shooting.

In a video posted by the woman, who goes by Jazmin Dior on Instagram, she is heard calling out Remy Ma for “trying to act like you’re tough” before telling her to “go around the corner.”

Remy Ma didn’t back down. “Come on, beat me up,” she said without hesitation, walking down the courthouse steps as the woman followed. The clip cuts off before anything physical is shown, but Dior later posted a photo of Remy Ma on the same steps, handcuffed.

Another video shows both women filming each other while trading insults. Dior later explained her side of the story in a follow-up clip.

“You would have thought I did something to you,” she said. “Realistically, I can never speak to my father again.” She added, “You can see your son.”

Dior also accused Remy Ma of glaring at her “with a whole attitude… as if her son was the victim. Like miss, where’s your remorse?”

Remy Ma’s Son Accused Of Fatal Shooting

The courthouse drama came after Scott was arraigned on a seven-count indictment, including first- and second-degree murder, reckless endangerment and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in June 2024.

Prosecutors say he was hired to kill 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux in Queens on June 7, 2021, shooting him multiple times and firing again after he had already fallen.

Scott’s alleged co-conspirator, 22-year-old Richard Swygert, is facing similar charges and already serving time for another murder from 2021.

Investigators arrested both men last June after linking them to the scene through surveillance footage and phone records.

If convicted, Scott could face life in prison without parole. Remy Ma has stood by her son throughout the legal process.

Rick Ross Just Clowned Drake’s Abs—Internet Can’t Stop Laughing

I promise y’all I wasn’t gonna say anything. But Drake’s abs have the internet in a chokehold and won’t let go. This has to be a joke. If you know, you know. Kendrick Lamar already had a humdinger of a line aimed at Drake’s abs, and it landed hard in their lyrical war.

READ ALSO: Drake Dragged Online After Shirtless Selfie Sparks Plastic Surgery Rumors

Over the weekend, Drake posted some pictures, one of him taking a selfie and another of him working out. When he showed off those abs, something looked… off. Like, really off. Honestly, they looked fake. And I’m not usually the type to critique someone’s body, but this kept showing up on my timeline again and again. So here we are.

The jokes haven’t stopped. The comments haven’t stopped. The judgment? That definitely hasn’t stopped either. Rick Ross even jumped in and dropped a meme that made me finally write this. He hilariously compared Drake’s abs to a pack of dinner rolls. That one took me out. I don’t even know what to think anymore. Now, Drake’s body is under full public analysis. Folks are comparing his abs to the definition in his arms and breaking down every inch like it’s a crime scene. It’s wild, ridiculous and funny at the same time.

I don’t know what Drake’s thinking. Maybe he was trolling. But he got the attention he was looking for. So there’s that. Just another day in Drake’s life. And let’s be real. Rick Ross isn’t exactly Mr. Fitness himself, but at least he stays natural. He shows up as himself every time, so him trolling is even funnier.

Now, for the elephant in the room—most people are saying Drake had some kind of plastic surgery to get those abs. I’m not gonna say he did or didn’t. I don’t know. But it does look like something surgical happened. That kind of definition? That’s not just six-pack—it’s like 8K ultra HD definition.

We’ll give Drizzy the last word.

“I’m wide awake for the nights that separate the type who get to it til they get it right from the type who just …type.”

Man Who Allegedly Masterminded Young Dolph Hit Has Trial Delayed

Justice from Memphis rapper Young Dolph will be delayed, thanks to the latest court ruling in the ongoing quest for justice.

Hernandez Govan will now face trial on August 18, 2025, in Memphis after a judge delayed proceedings in the case accusing him of orchestrating the murder of Young Dolph, the acclaimed rapper gunned down in 2021.

The trial was originally set for July 28, 2025, but that date has been reassigned as a report hearing. Court officials have not publicly explained the reason for the postponement.

Govan, who is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, is accused of organizing the fatal ambush that ended Young Dolph’s life outside Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies on November 17, 2021.

He rejected a plea deal on December 13, 2024, opting instead to take his chances at trial.

Prosecutors allege Govan played a central role in coordinating the hit, which has already led to convictions for others involved in the case.

Justin Johnson, also known as “Straight Drop,” was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy and illegal firearm possession. He received a life sentence plus 50 years and served concurrently.

Another suspect, Cornelius Smith, pleaded guilty and testified against Johnson. Smith told the court Yo Gotti’s late brother, “Big Jook,” allegedly ordered the $100,000 hit on Young Dolph.

Smith said he and Johnson were promised $40,000 each for the killing but only received $800. He also claimed that Yo Gotti’s label, CMG, covered his legal fees.

Smith is still in custody awaiting sentencing and is expected to testify against Govan.

Big Jook was gunned down on January 14, 2024, as he left a restaurant after attending a repass for a late family member.

Jermarcus Johnson, another relative of Justin Johnson, received probation after helping the suspects communicate while they were on the run.

As of June 30, 2025, Govan remains the only defendant awaiting trial in the high-profile case. The next court hearing is scheduled for July 28, 2025.

Cardi B Marks Her Return With Album Teaser Full Of Symbolism

Cardi B stormed Instagram with a dark and cinematic teaser on June 30, revealing the release date for her second studio album, Am I the Drama?, set to drop on September 19.

The one-minute clip shows the Bronx rapper sprinting through a desolate landscape as black ravens circle above, hinting at a major shift in her music and image.

The teaser, which quickly gained traction online, marks the start of a new era for the Grammy-winning artist.

The upcoming 23-track project will feature chart-toppers like “WAP” and “Up” alongside new material that reflects her personal and creative evolution.

The album title is Am I the Drama? nods to a viral moment from RuPaul’s Drag Race star Scarlet Envy, whose phrase became a pop culture staple.

This marks Cardi’s first full-length release since her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, which earned her a Grammy and solidified her place in Hip-Hop.

The long gap between albums has only heightened anticipation, especially with the dramatic visuals and cryptic symbolism in the teaser.

The raven imagery, often associated with rebirth and transformation, suggests Cardi is ready to reintroduce herself with a sharper edge and deeper narrative.

The teaser’s tone departs from her earlier visuals, leaning into a more theatrical and symbolic style.

Pre-orders for the deluxe box sets are already live, with each one signed by Cardi herself. The limited-edition bundles are expected to sell out quickly ahead of the album’s release.

Am I the Drama? arrives September 19, 2025.

YNW Melly’s Double Murder Case Continues With Another Trial Postponement

YNW Melly will remain behind bars even longer as his double-murder retrial in Broward County, Florida, has been postponed once again because of an unresolved appeal in district court.

The retrial, which was scheduled for September 10, cannot proceed until the appeal is resolved. A new hearing is now set for July 9 to determine when the retrial can begin, according to court officials.

Prosecutors informed the court that the appeal process automatically pauses the retrial, leaving the case in limbo.

The judge urged both sides to push the case forward once the legal roadblock is cleared.

Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, has been in custody since his 2019 arrest.

He is accused of killing two of his close friends and fellow YNW collective members—YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser—in October 2018 in Miramar, Florida.

Prosecutors allege Melly and co-defendant YNW Bortlen staged the killings to look like a drive-by shooting. Authorities say the victims were shot inside a vehicle and the crime scene was manipulated to mislead investigators.

Both Melly and Bortlen have pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

The first trial ended in a mistrial in July 2023 after jurors failed to reach a unanimous decision. Reports indicated the jury was split 9-3 in favor of a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Since his arrest, YNW Melly has been denied bond multiple times and remains in custody at the Broward County Jail. If convicted, he faces either life in prison without parole or the death penalty.

Florida law now allows a non-unanimous jury to recommend capital punishment.

The retrial has faced repeated delays due to legal disputes over evidence and the pending appeal. The July 9 hearing will determine the next steps in the case.

Taraji P. Henson Sets Broadway Debut With “Joe Turner’s Come And Gone”

Taraji P. Henson is stepping onto Broadway for the first time next spring alongside Cedric the Entertainer in a revival of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, a powerful drama by the late August Wilson that will be staged at a Shubert theater in New York.

The Hidden Figures star will portray Bertha Holly, a boarding house matriarch in 1911 Pittsburgh, while Cedric takes on the role of her husband, Seth.

The production, helmed by Debbie Allen and produced by Brian Anthony Moreland, marks Henson’s Broadway debut. Cedric previously appeared on Broadway in 2008’s American Buffalo.

The play, part of Wilson’s ten-part Pittsburgh Cycle, examines the lives of African Americans during the Great Migration. Its themes of displacement, identity and resilience remain timely more than a century after its setting.

Producer Brian Anthony Moreland called the opportunity to revisit Wilson’s work a privilege.

“We are truly honored to return to August Wilson’s legacy,” he said. “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is Wilson’s seminal masterpiece — an unflinching exploration of pain, identity, and hope.”

Moreland added, “With Debbie Allen’s visionary direction and this extraordinary cast, the entire company will present a performance that resonates deeply and lingers in the hearts and minds of all who experience it.”

Moreland’s recent credits include The Piano Lesson, which starred Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Brooks, as well as a staging of Othello featuring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The revival is set to open in spring 2025, with the exact Shubert venue to be announced.

Diddy Granted Book Privileges In Holding Cell As Jury Ponders His Fate

Diddy received permission from a federal judge to read books in his holding cell while a New York jury weighs multiple criminal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

The decision was made on Monday during a brief courtroom exchange as deliberations began following a seven-week trial.

Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, asked Judge Arun Subramanian if the Hip-Hop mogul could bring reading material back to his holding cell. The judge approved the request without objection.

Diddy has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transporting individuals for prostitution.

If convicted, he could face a life sentence on the racketeering count, a mandatory minimum of 15 years for sex trafficking and up to 10 years for the transportation charge.

The jury, comprising eight men and four women, began deliberating on Monday afternoon. But within an hour, proceedings hit a snag. The jury’s foreperson sent a note to the judge raising concerns about one juror’s ability to follow instructions.

“We have a juror, number 25, that we are concerned cannot follow your honor’s instructions,” the note read.

Judge Subramanian consulted with both legal teams before siding with the prosecution’s recommendation. He reminded the jury of their obligation to deliberate in good faith and adhere to the court’s guidance.

The case was kick-started by a lawsuit filed in November 2023 by Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who accused him of sexual abuse. That suit was settled the following day.

Ventura testified during the trial that the settlement amount was $20 million.

The jury will resume deliberations Tuesday morning in Manhattan federal court.

Chris Brown Settles With Guy Assaulted With Bottle—But Criminal Case Still On

Chris Brown has resolved a civil lawsuit tied to a 2023 nightclub altercation in London, where he was accused of attacking a man with a tequila bottle, but the singer still faces criminal prosecution in the United Kingdom.

Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the civil case filed by music producer Abe Diaw was dismissed with prejudice on June 28 in Los Angeles County, indicating that both parties likely reached a private settlement.

Dismissing a case with prejudice prevents it from being refiled. Diaw filed the lawsuit in 2023, alleging that Brown struck him multiple times with a Don Julio 1942 bottle at TAPE nightclub in London.

According to the complaint, Brown continued to assault him after he fell unconscious, stating the artist “ruthlessly stomped” on him and caused lasting injuries.

While the civil matter has been closed, Chris Brown’s legal troubles are far from over. He still faces criminal charges in the U.K. stemming from the same incident.

British authorities arrested Chris Brown in Manchester on May 15, 2025, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. The charges stem from the February 19, 2023, incident at the upscale London club.

Prosecutors allege Brown used the bottle as a weapon before punching and kicking Diaw while he lay on the ground.

Brown appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court the day after his arrest and was held in custody for nearly a week.

He was later released on $6 million bail under strict conditions, including surrendering his passport and residing at a court-approved address in the U.K.

Despite the pending charges, Brown has been granted permission to continue traveling for his world tour, provided he returns for all scheduled court appearances.

On June 20, 2025, Brown entered a not-guilty plea in the criminal case. The trial is set for October 26, 2026.

Rap Group Bob Vylan Banned From U.S. Over “Death To IDF” Glastonbury Chant

Bob Vylan had their U.S. visas revoked after leading a crowd in chants including “Death to the IDF” during their Glastonbury Festival set, prompting condemnation from U.S. officials and a criminal investigation in the UK.

The U.S. State Department announced the decision on June 30, one day after the British Hip-Hop duo’s performance, citing the group’s “hateful tirade” as the reason for the visa cancellation.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said, “Foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.”

During their June 29 set, Bob Vylan’s frontman Bobby Vylan led the audience in chants of “Death, death to the IDF” and “Free, free Palestine” and said, “Hell yeah, from the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, inshallah, it will be free.”

The performance drew swift backlash from Glastonbury organizers, who issued a statement saying, “Their chants very much crossed a line. We are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence.”

The BBC removed Bob Vylan’s set from its iPlayer platform following the controversy.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office also condemned the performance, while Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they are reviewing footage for potential public order offenses.

The duo was also dropped by United Talent Agency, which had represented them in the U.S. Despite the fallout, Bobby Vylan stood by the group’s actions in a statement posted to Instagram.

“The only way we can make this world a better place is by encouraging our children to speak up for what they want and need. Today it’s about altering school meals; tomorrow it could involve changing foreign policy.”

The incident has reignited debate over the limits of protest and political speech at major cultural events.

A separate investigation is also underway into a performance by Irish Hip-Hop group Kneecap, who made similar political statements during the same festival weekend.

EXCLUSIVE: Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane Might Be Forming Supergroup

“Mt. Rushmore” supergroup in the works with Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane—with a bonus MC. Read on.

A quiet storm is brewing behind the scenes that could change the landscape of Hip-Hop’s legacy acts forever. Listen to me and listen good. AllHipHop has received exclusive word from a high-flying bird that a high-powered supergroup is in the final stages of formation.

This is about to be crazy if the rumor comes true. Tentatively dubbed Mt. Rushmore, Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane could be the next supergroup. I don’t think I need to run down the history of these rappers, but if you are a younger fan, trust me on this one. From back in the day, these are the best of the best of the best in Hip-Hop. Each of them can rap circles around most rappers today.

Sources close to the development say the project is “getting finalized,” with the budget already locked in.

There’s one question. One of the artists is not fully on board at the time of this writing. I am waiting with bated breath that this happens with all of the acts mentioned. I think he can be convinced to join the movement—but that’s not all.

There’s also a bee buzz that says Slick Rick might be tapped for at least one track. Slick recently emptied the clip with a recent album. He’s 60 years young, but adding his iconic voice would be crazy. He’s not a member of the group, but maybe he will be if the fourth person doesn’t join.

Details like the official group name, release date or label is under wraps, but this isn’t wishful thinking. This one’s for real. The budget is in place. If this materializes, Mt. Rushmore could become one of the most culturally significant Hip-Hop collaborations ever. It would unify some of the most competitive forces in Hip-Hop history. We need this lyrical masterclass.

Come on guys! Stay tuned.

John Legend shut down rumors of an upcoming concert in Naples after unauthorized posters featuring his image and name began circulating across Italy, calling out the promoter for promoting a show he never agreed to.

The Grammy-winning singer took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to set the record straight after seeing his likeness used to promote a performance he says was never finalized.

“To my fans in Italy: You may have seen advertisements for a show in Napoli claiming that I will be a featured performer. These advertisements have been posted without my knowledge or approval,” John Legend wrote.

Legend explained that while his team had been in early talks about a possible appearance, no deal was ever reached.

John Legend Slams Italian Promoter

“My team was approached about the possibility of performing at this show and we were hoping to come to an acceptable agreement with the show’s promotor, but we never did.”

The 46-year-old artist expressed regret over the confusion and disappointment caused by the misleading promotion.

“Unfortunately, I will not be performing there. I deeply appreciate the love and excitement – I see your messages and support. And it means the world to me. I love spending time in Italy,” John Legend added. “And I absolutely love performing there. And I hope to do so again soon. But I would never want my fans to be misled, expecting to see me at an event where I will not be. My apologies for any misunderstanding.”

The concert organizer behind the Naples event has yet to respond publicly to Legend’s statement.

Legend closed his message with a hopeful note for future appearances, saying, “Hopefully, I will see you on the road. Sending everyone love!”

According to his official tour schedule, Legend is next set to perform at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois, on August 23 as part of his Get Lifted – 20th Anniversary Tour.
