Hip-Hop Rumors: Drake To Debut New Aaliyah Track And Finish High School?

Drake, Canada’s biggest Hip-Hop export, recently revealed that he’s spending the summer getting his high school diploma. “I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school,” he told Now Toronto. “That’s my main focus after OVO Fest. I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that.”

Drake is getting set for the OVO Fest, which there are rumors he’s reveal a new Aaliyah song!

Not only is he said to be executive producing the project, but he will reportedly debut a new single featuring vocals from Aaliyah at his OVO Festival, taking place this Sunday at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, Canada. Last year, he surprised fans with an appearance from the legendary Stevie Wonder and if he is indeed going to debut his Aaliyah collaboration, that would certainly be the perfect platform to do it.

BJ The Chicago Kid Joins Universal Motown Family With Newly Signed Record Deal

(AllHipHop News) Singer BJ the Chicago Kid has officially inked a record deal with Universal/Motown according to a tweet he sent out last night (August 2) and image that followed shortly after.

“Chicago Thank Y’all For An Incredible Show 2nite!! Thank Y’all For You Patience w/ me over the yrs… Time well served. Motown Baby,” BJ tweeted.

He later wrote, “Follow your Dreams man… Damn what ‘they say.'”

Having already worked with the likes of Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Dom Kennedy, and Kendrick Lamar, BJ the Chicago Kid has onlookers interested to hear what he brings to the table on his Motown debut, tentatively set for release early next year.

The singing of BJ to Universal/Motown follows a string of deals being made with Chicago’s current crop of talent like Chief Keef, who signed with Interscope last month, and King L (aka King Louie), who inked a deal of his own with Epic Records in May.

BJ’s most recent release, Pineapple Now-Laters, is available now on iTunes.

(AllHipHop News) With his Warner Bros. debut, The Stoned Immaculate, now in stores, Jet Life Recordings C.E.O. Curren$y has begun sketching out plans for his roster’s upcoming release in both solo and group form.

In addition to his own forthcoming projects like Pilot Talk IIIPuff Daddy, Cigarette Boats 2 and Live In ConcertCurren$y is focused on getting his artists’ projects the shine and attention they rightfully deserve too.

“Young Roddy’s got Cantaloop, Trademark Da Skydiver’s got the Flamingo Barnes project. Fiend is working on a project that’s untitled at the moment, as is Corner Boy P,” Curren$y told AllHipHop.com. “Smoke DZA has Rugby Thompson right now, and I think we probably going to do something together. Me and Smoke might have to work one out together, some little short joint.”

“Other than that I’ve got New Jet City,” he continued. “That’s more like a compilation, but it’s not because I’ll be on like five records, and maybe Roddy will drive the majority and everybody else will be on it.”

Jet World Order 2 is Young Roddy and Trademark, that’s they thing. New Jet City is what I’m doing. That’s Curren$y Presents…New Jet City. The way I’m sketching it out in my mind, Roddy will probably drive and take the wheel on that one, like most of it. I’ll do like five, get out the way and let the homie drive.”

Floyd Mayweather Released From Prison, TMT Promotion Partner 50 Cent On Hand

(AllHipHop News) Rapper 50 Cent was on hand to greet boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was released from prison earlier this morning (August 3).

Floyd Mayweather was released from the Clark County detention Center in Las Vegas, after serving two months of a three-month sentence.

The boxer was sentenced to the jail time after being charged in a misdemeanor domestic battery case after a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Josie Harris.

Mayweather was greeted by dozens of friends and family members, but he left in a blue Bentley with 50 Cent and friends, without speaking to the media.

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather have teamed up for a new venture called TMT Promotions.

The new company will take on established brands in the boxing world, to market, promote and produce high level boxing matches.

TMT Promotions already has a formidable stable of boxers, including IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib, Andre Berto, Zab Judah, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Andre Dirrell.
