Hip-Hop Rumors: RhymeFest Says Chief Keef & Waka Flocka’s Music Is Destroying Minds

Conscious rapper RhymeFest released a blog recently that calls out Waka Flocka Flame and Chief Keef for “destroying young minds.” Check out an excerpt from his blog below:

Chief Keef is a “Bomb”, he represents the senseless savagery that white people see when the news speaks of Chicago violence. A Bomb has no responsibility or blame, it does what it was created to do; DESTROY! Notice, no one is talking about the real culprits, the Bomb maker or the pilot who is deploying this deadly force (Labels, Radio Stations). Its easier to blame the bomb. Bombs are not chosen for their individual talents, they are tools used for collateral damage.

To think of the persona of Chief Keef as a person would be the first mistake, he will more then likely come and go without us knowing much of anything about his personal pains, struggles, great loves and ambitions beyond rap. He is a spokesman for the Prison Industrial Complex. Every corporation is expected to grow at least 4% each quarter, many prisons are privately owned with stock being traded on the open market. If these corporations were to do commercials, jingles and promotions who would they hire? You got it, most of the main stream rappers we salivate over like Rick Ross the former correctional officer turned Drug Lord Boss rapper. Waka Flocka Flame gang bang “GO HARD IN THE PAINT” and Chief Keef the newest lottery pick in the “Get paid to destroy young minds, like we destroyed yours” Sweepstakes.

Lets stop giving our intellectual power resources and admiration to destructive forces while ignoring and starving out the good that is being done, sung and rapped about by artist like Killer Mike, Lupe Fiasco, RhymeFest, Dead Prez, Brother ALI, Maimouna Yusef, Invincible, Jean Grey, Mikkey Halsted etc.

Trailer For Spike Lee’s New Joint “Red Hook Summer” Arrives

“There’s some shady people up here, this is not Atlanta.”

For the past few months, we’ve been reporting on Spike Lee’s new joint, Red Hook Summer, and today the first trailer for the two-time Academy Award-nominated director’s new flick has hit the ‘net.

Red Hook Summer, which is set to hit theaters on August 10, stars Clarke Peters, Jules Brown, Toni Lysaith, Nate Parker, James Ransone, and Thomas Jefferson Byrd.

The film will also feature Spike portraying the classic character of Mookie from his 1989 film Do the Right Thing. Red Hook Summer is also the latest entry in Lee’s “Chronicles of Brooklyn”, which also features such films as: She’s Gotta Have It, Do the Right Thing, Crooklyn, Clockers and He Got Game.

Following the release of Red Hook Summer in August, Lee will begin production on the American-language remake of the critically acclaimed 2003 South Korean film, Oldboy, which is set to star Josh Brolin (Men In Black III), Sharlto Copley (District 9) and Elizabeth Olson (Silent House).

Check out the trailer for Red Hook Summer and the film’s official plot below:

Red Hook Summer tells the story of Flik Royale (Jules Brown), a sullen young boy from middle-class Atlanta who has come to spend the summer with his deeply religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch Rouse (Clarke Peters), in the housing projects of Red Hook. Having never met before, things quickly get off on the wrong foot as Bishop Enoch relentlessly attempts to convert Flik into a follower of Jesus Christ. Between his grandfather’s constant preaching and the culture shock of inner-city life, Flik’s summer appears to be a total disaster–until he meets Chazz Morningstar (Toni Lysaith), a pretty girl his age, who shows Flik the brighter side of Brooklyn. Through her love and the love of his grandfather, Flik begins to realize that the world is a lot bigger, and perhaps a lot better, than he’d ever imagined.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Diss Or Punchline? Game Tells Kanye West To “Share That Hoe”

L.A. rapper The Game is at it again! After releasing a “Burn” freestyle yesterday calling out St.Louis rapper Nelly, Game has remixed French Montana’s “Pop That” that mentions Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Is it a diss or punchline? You decide. Check out the lyrics referencing Yeezy and Kim K. below:

“Cope The Yeezy’s Never Wear That Tho, You F*** With Kim K? N#### Share That H*e.”

Game also name checks Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, ex-stripper Amber Rose, Drake’s stripper ex, Maliah, and Tyga’s stripper girlfriend Blac Chyna. See a pattern here? Anyway, below is the lyric:

“Amber Rose ain’t got nothin’ on Maliah, Meagan Good ain’t got nothin’ on Chyna and I know Tyga, how I know Tyga?, Meagan Good ain’t got nothing on Chyna,” Game spits. “Sh*t, Japan ain’t got nothin’ on Chyna/Wish that was me, nothin’ on Chyna/Damn, there I go again, I ain’t tryna start nothin’ about speakin’ nothin’ on Chyna!”

The Game is not trying to make the moves on Blac Chyna from what we know of. In fact, he was just in the studio with Tyga last night and tweeted that they just finished a 24-hour studio binge. Check out his tweet below:

“Just wrapped a 24 hour studio session wit the team @chrisbrown @tyga @lifestylemusiq & @kidred …. 10 songs, 6 ace of spades bottles, 2 henny’s , 27 redbull’s & 18 blunts later & we still standing !!!”

EXCLUSIVE: Lawsuit Breaks Out Over Former Death Row Artist J’ewell’s Tell-All Biography

(AllHipHop News) A lawsuit has broken out over the unreleased memoirs of Death Row Records R&B singer J’ewell Caples, titled My Blood, My Sweat and My Tears.

The book was supposed to be released in October of 2010, but was originally delayed due to “legal precautions,” that were not explained when the announcement came that the book would be delayed.

In an interview with AllHipHop.com in October of 2011, J’ewell said the delay of the book was the result of controversial content about her peers at Death Row, which she called home from 1992-1996.

On June 25, Best Hand Entertainment filed a lawsuit in the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division.

The lawsuit claims that Best Hand Entertainment had artists like Picasso, Bobby Sealz, and J’ewell as artists on a label.

Best Hand Entertainment claims they entered into a distribution agreement with RBC Records to release and distribute the CD, as well as the book.

The lawsuit claims that John Payne and the new owners of WideAwake-Death Row Entertainment, did not want the tell-all autobiography to be released.

The lawsuit claims that the owners of WideAwake-Death Row encouraged Best Hand’s owners to form a new company, D-Sound Syndicate, that would be funded by WideAwake-Death Row with $300,000 in capital.

Without permission, despite the fact that none of the original Best Hand masters were transferred to the new company, an agreement was executed on behalf of D-Sound with WideAwake-Death Row.

The lawsuit also claims that WideAwake-Death Row attempted to sign J’ewell directly, but she never accepted the offer.

As a result, the legal entanglement between the company’s, J’ewell’s memoirs never saw the light of day.

“Payne and WideAwake-Death Row Entertainment own the old Death Row catalog and did not want Best Hand to profit from the J’ewell account of the history of Death Row Records,” the lawsuit reads.

Best Hand Entertainment is suing for federal copyright infringement, the car is an infringement, contribution rate infringement, false attribution, and false representation.

Best Hand Entertainment is suing John Payne, WideAwake-Death Row Entertainment and eOne for millions.
