It’s safe to say that Dr. Dre is having a pretty bad week as details surrounding his abuse towards Michel’le have resurfaced with the release of her biopic, ‘Surviving Compton’. Former Dre fans are horrified and outraged and have apparently threatened to boycott the Hip Hop mogul’s ‘Beats By Dre’ headphones due to his portrayal in the television movie.
The movie really should be called ‘Surviving Dr. Dre’ as it seems to chronicle Michel’le’s abuse at the hands of the legendary producer and rapper more than her own musical career.
Dre’s character is seen punching Michel’le continuously and even pulling a gun on the singer. Dre has threatened to take legal action against Sony Pictures for his portrayal, but Michel’le dares him to do so as she says there were witnesses to the abuse.
Michel’le says the opportunity to do a biopic came once she was omitted out of the film ‘Straight Outta Compton’. Fans have pointed out that both films depict two totally different Dr. Dre’s.
While many are allegedly ready to boycott, others have pointed out the fact that Dre no longer owns the majority stake in Beats Electronics after selling it to Apple for $3 billion in 2014.
It looks like Dre’s pockets won’t be affected. What are your thoughts?
