Doug E. Fresh will headline the National Hip-Hop

Forum at the Cobo Center in Detroit, presented by the Freedom Institute for Economic,

Social Justice and Political Empowerment.

According to Reverend Wendell Anthony, chairman

and founder of the institute, the forum will focus on the evolving business

of Hip-Hop.

"We are not just doing a summit or a session

on Hip-Hop," Anthony said. "While that is important, what’s more important,

is to use this medium as an opportunity to inform and educate young people."

Anthony said that budding entrepreneurs must

be fully aware of how to be in control of their futures and the responsibility

that comes with running a business.

"The forum this year will focus in on marketing,

professional development, voter

education and mobilization and how to protect their royalties, health awareness,

HIV/AIDS prevention and building positive character," Anthony added.

The day will be topped with a competition for

the best rap written around the themes of the importance of voter registration

and how to stop violence in the communities.

Atlanta Hawks co-owner Dominique Wilkins, Tyson

Beckford, AJ, host of 106 & Park and others will also participate.
