(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop legend Nas is going to be one of the rap representatives to perform at the world renown John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ “One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide” festival in 2014.

The Hip-Hop festival was announced as part of the Kennedy Center’s 2013-2014 season on Tuesday. This will place Hip-Hop culture right along side other artistic mediums such as ballet, theater, and orchestral performance at the busiest performing arts facility in the United States.

Nas will open the festival by celebrating the 20-year anniversary of his classic 1994 debut album Illmatic. The Queens emcee will be performing material from the groundbreaking LP with the National Symphony Orchestra.

As the official orchestra of the Kennedy Center, the NSO performs over 150 concerts each year including ceremonial state affairs and presidential inaugurations.

Somalian emcee K’Naan and Puerto Rican Hip-Hop band Calle 13 have also been announced as performers for “One Mic.” The festival will include DJing acts and a graffiti exhibition as well.

“Hip-Hop is clearly something new and different for us,” said Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser. “I think to do something very current is important. We’re trying to speak to many different audiences.”

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is located in Washington, DC. The “One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide” festival featuring Nas and the National Symphony Orchestra will take place March 28 – 29, 2014.
