Kendrick Lamar

Rappers React To Kendrick Lamar’s Murderous “Control (HOF)” Verse

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar did not hold anything back on his latest verse off Big Sean’s “Control (HOF).” The TDE emcee took a huge step forward in claiming the “The Greatest of His Generation” title by telling several of his peers that the only ones in his league right now are rap veterans Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, and André 3000. He also caught people’s ear when he even claimed that he is “The King of New York.”

In what may be the verse of the year already K-Dot spits:

I’m usually homeboys with the same n*ggas I’m rhyming with
But this is Hip Hop and them n*ggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you n*ggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n*ggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n*ggas

It seems Kendrick’s message was heard loud and clear, because a few emcees took to Twitter to respond.

  • Saiyan Prince

“It’s like New York been soft ever since Snoop came thru and crushed the buildings.” Somebody from the East has got to address this verse cuz ol’ boy went IN!! I think the sun is setting on the BS rap, and Hip-Hop is coming back.

  • PorchBoySlim

KDot really spazzed on this shit yo……I had to rewind that shit like 10 times

  • vandyll

This nigga went retard on this shit. Hope this is a wake up call for all them wanna sound like they from they south spitting empty bars ass niggas. New York need to listen he telling you what this shit is about, he basically daring niggas to try and step the rhymes up. Hip Hop is slowly waking up again shit been sleep for a minute.

  • Judah Nazayar

STOP THE BOOLSHET. JAY ELECTRONICA SCRAPED THAT KID …DID U EVEN HEAR WHAT THE MAN SAID? lol IF WE CAN EXPECT MORE OF THIS JAY ELECT ON HIS ALBUM. U OTHER RAPPERS MAY AS WELL FILL OUT SUM APPS FOR THE GAS STATION

    • Casor_G

Yeah this Kendrick Lamar shit was over-rated…on second thought naw this boy killed it, and ya boy Jay got bodied

      • Frank White

Yeah Jay got bodied!! He should have went 2nd… cuz now his verse will never get heard again…

  • eddieknucks

Kweli tweet is on point! True shyt!

    • Nasir Isaac

I was gon say same, even before I read your comment.

  • Obi Won

Wake up Call anyone?!?! I’ve missed this type of Hip Hop dearly

  • dmoore1

I like Kendrick, but I think it’s a little too early for a take over. Please don’t under estimate Joe Buddens thou. I’m riding with Joe in the end. Plus most of K-Dots lyrics are like scrambled eggs…don’t get me wrong the boy is good. At the end of the day you gotta respect New York and I’m from Chicago. This verse is going to have alot of MC’s coming for his head…like you thing Fabulous is going to stand-by and let him say that about NYC. This verse will stir up something that will be good for hip-hop as long as it stays for the love of the game. Plus this will give the world another chance to hear the greatness of Joe Buddens that they keep missing. Joe is a under-rated MC with potential for greatness (granting no drugs) and remember he is a member of Slaughter House, so lyrical genius is all around him, not that he will need the assistants.

  • Big Sean was smart to go first.. cause if he went last we’d never hear his verse….

    • Frank White

Say word! They stopped playing Big Sean verse this morning on Hot 97. Kendrick didn’t even name Fab or Joe Bud.. I guess they betta step they game up…

  • BibatheDiva

What an exciting day in hip-hop. #happybirthday

  • lol… he killed that joint… not verse of the year though… Black Thought on Bird’s Eye View still got it so far…

  • Synista

    talib said it best!

  • Thomas Smith

This is what hip hop is all about, it don’t matter what coast you from if you know you got it bring it man he and jay E. killed that shit, but KDot….man got all these niggas upset…and that’s a beautiful things….Like Jeru the Damaja said back in the day “leave your nine’s at home, and bring your skills to the battle” its clear…very clear niggas need to get that rap music and bring that hip hop shit immediately….

  • gunnstarr

Kendrick-even if you were great-you would only be the best there is in remedial class (that is what ‘real’ hip POP is now)

  • King Cool

I think this is perfect. Now rappers will start putting their best foot forward on the track. Its statements to be made now!

  • JJones

I hope no true hip hop fan or artists takes this as a diss. This was a just a great verse by a great rapper who has arrived. He has mad respect for everybody he named. It’s like Jordan in his prime. He was cool with Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley, Charles Barkley, etc, but when it was game time he tried to destroy them. Hip Hop need this because it will make MC’s step they game up and stop with all this bubble gum, BS crap they been trying to feed us. Respect

  • Reblogged this on HUEY mix wit RILEY.

  • DollasTX

fab took exception to that LMAO

shots to kendrick for being confident enough to go hard but not jump all the way out

the damn window … GOOD SHYT YOUNG MAN!

  • Ronnie Piper

seriously Nas ain’t soft so i don’t know what y’all talking about…everybody else has their moments but Nas ain’t never slept cuz sleep is the cousin of death

    • Mongo Slade

      WORD!!!

  • Megaton

If you get on the mic and say you’re the best, you basically say this same thing… and that happens in every other MC’s other verses when they’re not caking a chick so… The fact that he named names is why people are taking exception… It’s not a diss when he raps with them all the time, he is just saying bring it on everything cause he will be bringing it.

  • scullyson

Whoa ! Cant knock kendricks attempt to wake up hip hops lyrical spitters. He definitely got everybodys attention. In other words get down or lay down. With that being said Im anxious to see which artist clips kendricks wings. I know of few that are more than capable.

  • Kingbiggz

Guess what! ITS HIP HOP! GO HARD OR GO HOME! Lets see who ready to BATTLE!!!

  • Kingbiggz

    Part 2:
This is really GOOD, lets get the TRASH rappers out the game!!

  • $27177313

Again, I’m a fan of Kendrick Lamar but he’s 0-2 on the mic when matched up with legends in my opinion. Jay-Z’s bars were better on ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Remix)’ and 50 Cent’s bars were better on ‘We Up’. K Dot should of saved this for an Eminem track instead of wasting it on Big Sean and the B-Version of Nas.

    • Mongo Slade

JAY Z GOT MURKED BY KENDRICK AND JAY Z IMO IS A PRODUCT OF THE CORPORATE MACHINE, KANYE’S GENIUS AND DAME’S HUSTLE DUDE IS COOL ONLY CUZ MEDIA SAYS SO always been average to me — Kendrick shoulda dissed that nigga the hardest but Nas, Andre3K those dudes to me are legends….. Kendrick is the truth!

      • killaa_mc

        just another jay-z hater

      • Mongo Slade

In the words of COMMON “just because I don’t like it don’t mean that I’m hating” I don’t like he guy as an artist that’s it… I did by Blueprint tho, those beats were sick — later on we found out who was the genius behind most of that music

      • killaa_mc

if theres someone with a better 3 rap albums in their discography then reasonable doubt, blueprint, and black album i would love to know..

      • Mongo Slade

NAS, NAS, NAS — first of all my nigga NAS blueprint was all in this swaggerjackers DNA — he wanted to be on everyone of his classics — Outkast, Kanye West has 4 classics and niggas can hate on Ye all they want bt that Yeezus is his first bulshit album but your guy was clingin to Ye’s creativity for the past few years hanging on for dear life — YE = a real producer and dynamic artist — Tribe Called Quest has 3 groundbreaking classics and maybe TUPAC rings a bell to you and that nigga made all his music before 26 and was still releasing classic material from the grave — BIGGIE technically had 3 Classics as he had a double CD and his first album PLUS BIGGIE was KING OF NEW YORK and had that whole persona on smash when he died here come this cornball mr softie acting like he was that nigga — what block or hood in BK or anybody’s projects was that nigga running? Like Fat Joe said niggas story ain’t checking out…. and dudes got the nerve to try and diss Ross?

      • killaa_mc

still havent heard 3 better albums listed.. Nas probably comes the closest.. and most of pacs albums came out after he died, so you cant really count a posthumous album since its only the rappers lyrics that are thrown together with producers beats, artist doesnt have input on the album.. so that 2pac guy who you said does he ring a bell? is one of my faves, but he dont have 3 albums that can compete with jays 3. sorry dude

      • johnblacksad

        WHOA… it’s a lot of hate and a lot of bullsh!t in that post…

You give Kanye 4 classics but you hate Jay so much you won’t even mention his name? Even Kanye’s conceited azz would not believe you

I don’t have the energy in me for a debate today

      • Mongo Slade

Kanye a bigger star world wide, sold more records, he produce and rap and BTW Dame put the nigga on ur guy hated on him heavy from day one bcuz thats what he do, told the nigga Ye he don’t need to rap — but wait now he wannna watch the throne with the nigga??? @Johnblacwhateverfuck ur name is u don’t know me my nigga GTFOWTBS and I’m far from a hater I got my opinion u got yours now like I said keep it moving my nigga

      • johnblacksad

        fcuk you and your momma!

Jay is Kanye’s idol… miss me with all that bullshit you write

      • Mongo Slade

I heard that LOL!!! Tuff talk from a queer with a cartoon for his profile — u probably wearing satin panties right now fagot FOH

      • johnblacksad

        no homo

      • Thomas Smith

Nas, outkast to name a few….

      • johnblacksad

sheeit… add American Gangster, Hard Knock Life & In My Lifetime… sheeeeit… add Magna Carta Holy Grail…. matter fact add Blueprint 2, 3, The Dynasty and Kingdom Come

  • Guest

ehhh. is this what people call the verse of the year now? this is mediocre at best. let’s be honest. nothing mind blowing here. the delivery isn’t even really up to par. forcing words into a bar, half offbeat. people gotta stop elevating these average rappers to messiah status. i heard about 4 billion better verses this year. dude is criminally overrated.

    • Thomas Smith

And who do you listen too again???

      • john lips

        mc’s that can spit.

      • Thomas Smith

        like who???

      • Thomas Smith

because from what you speak I know more then you easy….who you listen too????

      • Thomas Smith

and please no Jay-z, Nas, please we know them already….come with it

      • Thomas Smith

ok so your a m.c. so am I you can go all day like who??? just for you lets start old school….Go!!!

      • john lips

i’m not gonna sit here and name rappers back n forth. that’s for 12 year olds. half the game spits better than kendrick lamar. pick someone and they’re probably nicer.

      • Thomas Smith

12 yr old’s really, come on man you ain’t about hip hop you just rapper…..you got it in you but I can name some because I love hip hop not rap music but hip hop if you like

      • killaa_mc

kendrick really aint that good.. j cole ahead of him for sure.

and nobody finds it funny that kendrick can come out and drop all these names, but because shyne said he thought his album was trash everyone was up in arms. goes both ways kid.

      • Thomas Smith

But everyone was up in arms because even though that was shyne’s opinion and I respect that but this was the same guy who trying for his boy at the time diddy to sound like Biggie….so for him to say somebody album was trash…people was like “really???”

      • killaa_mc

ya but who cares if he even said that, his opinion if he thought it was trash.. his opinion counts more then mine and yours..and shyne aint trying to sound like biggie, that just the way he sounded, shyne was sik back in the day.. now he went looney tunes

      • Thomas Smith

yes but if you listen to his interviews when he was talking about diddy he said but i don’t have the quote right all the way to point “that diddy needed me to have that biggie style when he recorded his album”, because the tracks he did with premier back in the day he did sound like Big sorry…..and his opinion didn’t count that much kendrick sold 2.5mill and counting

      • killaa_mc

so he took some style from BIG, thats probably a good thing if anything..

You sure riding hard on kendrick daam son

      • Thomas Smith

no i’m not what he did in that verse took me back to park in New Jersey ’92 when lauryn hill, redman, tame one, the outsidaz use to rip shit omg…i missed those days…..kendrick is one of the quote on quote movement of rappers that are setting the standards….one guy they sleeping on is Domo Genesis of Odd future that “no idols” record with alchemist is crazy…..

      • $11625525

Your argument is weak. If you’re not going to give an example, hold your tongue (quit typing responses)

      • john lips

there’s many examples. many. you want me to start listing 100’s of rappers? for what? anyone in wu-tang, r.a. the rugged man, immortal technique, sean price, frank black, bronze nazareth, ill bill, papoose, kool g rap, action bronson, tech n9ne, reks, tragedy khadafi, talib, az, killah priest, krs-one, twin perils, brother ali, masta ace, mf doom, styles and jada, black thought,. saigon, canibus, common, diabolic, hell razah, cormega, etc. etc. i can be here all day. even blu spits better.

      • $11625525

        John Lips

Kendrick called out “New” rappers, with the exception of Pusha T who’s been around for a minute, most these guys have been out 5 years or less, unlike the list you’ve presented.

I’m feeling a some of the rappers you’ve mentioned, but some lack consistency, namely; Cormega and Tragedy, but that’s my preference.

Black Thought, I need to listen to more of, because he took over Ghost Face’s “In the park” … Owned It!

I’ve, admittedly, been sleeping on the Roots for a few years, I think the last album I got was “Things fall apart” :(

      • johnblacksad

Now if you wanna get into Black Though no homo, I humbly suggest the following tracks :

-Can’t Stop This (J Dilla tribute on a J Dilla beat… listen to all three verses… I hardly know other songs that have three verses this perfect each… the song is amazing, the beat is amazing, his delivery will leave you in awe… his vocabulary is exceptional “This debonaire style of my words is high caliber / Speakin my mind for everyday that’s on the calendar”… it’s one of my favorite hip hop songs ever… you know, along with the Moment of Truths et caetera)

-Bird’s Eye View (Listen to the final verse by Black Thought… 32 bars of butchery… he fcukin ripped it… another incredible azz delivery, and he be on point with the content… “You got a couple homies down to catch a homi for you?/Well I’mma fold n!ggaz into origami for you”… i don’t read them XXL/source magazines and stuff but I don’t see how this could not be the verse of the year… fcuk this current Kendrick debate, no disrespect)

-Kool On (he only dropped one verse… once again incredible, delivery is there, the beat is there… lyrics as usual… “the minute before the storm hit is what I’m calm like”)

I wanted to limit it to three songs… just off the head the first three ones that came to mind but Black Thought’s whole catalogue is the bizness…

        Peace!

      • Thomas Smith

        Immortal Technique…cool
        kool g rap….cool

But no phonte from “little Brother” really?
mos def, common, az, masta ace…I listen all those matter fact I have all there catalogs on file….I still have some of the vinyl too
hell razah…nah not feeling him…..cormega, saigon I fucks with too….black thought is a easy pick too….I don’t see J-live either, or elzhi……grandmaster caz, busy bee, I don’t either….the funky four plus one more….need them….bronze nazareth i’m not feeling either….where is jedi mind tricks and binary star….

      • Thomas Smith

where is grand puba or brand nubian period, devin the dude where he at???? Lord have mercy, where’s he at???? where’s Krumbsnatcha at…….jeru the damaja, where evidence at too??? no Jean Grae???? hieroglyphics???? another easy pick mobb deep???? really come John Lips your killing me…..no guilty simpson, beanie sigel????? living legends???? Lone Catalysts???? come on John lips no Lord finesse or percee P., Planet Asia???? Mood???? and you disrespectful even if they on your list but you say bronze nazareth before M.O.P. smh…..

      • Thomas Smith

man you didn’t even a say Punisher….what’s up with that…. GZA???? Ed o.g.???? Median???? Mr. Lif???? Supernatural???? wtf come john lips what’s good

      • john lips

how many mc’s i gotta name? lol. i literally think 100’s of mc’s are better. i mean pick one. i’ll body kendrick myself.

      • johnblacksad

        damn… Evidence don’t play on a mic.

Planet Asia doesn’t either… that 360 Waves Durag Dynasty is still on repeat like Lebron and’em…

      • Thomas Smith

also John lips how do you mention ra the rugged man, but you don’t mention Edan first….smh

      • john lips

planet asia is a good example. pain language > kendrick’s whole career.

      • Thomas Smith

I got you on that…that album is classic DJ Muggs did that whole my nigga

      • john lips

i like m.o.p. of course bro. bronze is fam, so his name popped into my head.

      • Thomas Smith

I’m glad that we can fellowship on hip hop without cursing each other out…

      • Thomas Smith

but come John when you start your list you gotta put Lord finesse man you gotta….lol

      • john lips

no question. lord finesse is a legend. i started listening to hip-hop back when run-dmc’s first album came out. that was my first hip-hop album. jam on it by nucleus was probably the first joint i heard. beatstreet/breakin’ era.

      • Thomas Smith

yeah my father had me listening to the last poets first, then my uncle gave me run dmc first album as well…..

      • john lips

nah yo. it’s all good. talking hip-hop is like talking boxing. sometimes people don’t agree, but it ain’t personal. respect.

      • Obi Won

All of those are well established LEGENDS with their name engraved in stone already, if this was 94′ then they would be in the running for an argument. They’re saying someone that’s young in the game. Stop ducking wreck dude

      • Thomas Smith

I listen to Blu and he don’t spit better then kendrick….

      • MrJayK

        Haha….you know what it is!

      • Thomas Smith

I like what you said about the wu-tang to the grave, they are also on the list……

      • MrJayK

Half the names on that list don’t spit better than Kendrick. I’ll go with Wu-Tang to the grave, but only Ghost, GZA, Deck, and maybe Rae can hold a candle to Kendrick. And before you even start talkin about how you been down since ’83 or whatever, I’m right there with you. Just because the kid’s from the new school doesn’t mean he’s “average”, or can’t spit on a higher level.

      • johnblacksad

“Wu-Tang to the grave” …love that part of your post!

      • Thomas Smith

hol up phonte formally of little brother do spit better then kendrick???? you crazy, mos def, you crazy….az??? you crazy

      • john lips

kendrick couldn’t wash az’s jock strap. come on now. you serious? you did NOT just say kendrick is better than az…did you? lol. i can’t man.

      • Thomas Smith

oh I did say that MrJayK said that

      • johnblacksad

        i co-sign for Killah Priest…

        >>>didn’t mean to interrupt, please proceed gentlemen… ya’ll are goin in… no homo

      • Casor_G

So basically you got caught talking out of your ass

      • john lips

no, basically you think average rappers are the lord and savior.

      • Thomas Smith

yo John Lips I respect your opinion there’s no disrespect your list so far is cool but them one’s that I list you have to have them on your list man

      • Thomas Smith

I’m waiting, oh and please don’t say rakim because he and KRS-One because they were what KDot’s, J. Cole’s, are now please give me somebody right now that going bar for bar with that verse that even got the balls to name drop without dissing sir….I’ll wait….

      • john lips

lmao of course you don’t want me to say rappers that would eat him for breakfast. nice cop out there. next you’ll be telling me he’s a better mc than g rap. smh.

      • Thomas Smith

G Rap back in the day was a storyteller rhymer back in the day, now he’s a verbal assassin unfortunately cannibus got in that ass on allied metal forces….

      • Thomas Smith

that was ok but try again sorry that doesn’t cut it….need to come better than that

      • john lips

lmao. new jack downplaying kool g rap now. that’s how the game is these days. rookies idiots thinking they are legends. pathetic. i don’t need to do shit. kendrick lamar doesn’t cut it.

      • Thomas Smith

I will never downplay any rapper of Kool G Rap’s caliber but to say that the new real mc’s are wack your killing yourself…..

      • Mongo Slade

        WORD!

      • Thomas Smith

nah I disagree, what’s going on is that money is root of rap music fame and that is what allows all these no rapping mc’s to get there name called and kendrick’s not rookie I got his first mixtape 10yrs ago…..please come better then that

      • john lips

you just said “money is the root of rap music fame.”
i want you to think about that. hard. for the rest of the day. that’s some of the most misguided shit i’ve ever heard.
        PLEASE….come better than THAT.

      • Thomas Smith

really well think about this do you remember when puffy was bringing out old dance records and making hits in ’96 while the other labels still had real hip hop on there roster….nobody was really listening after puffy did that so record labels who had the real mc’s got push to the side because money was more important than lyrics…how is that misguided when the soulja boy’s, trindad james, gucci mane, old school twist mc hammer’s, and lil’ wayne’s in world are getting millions and can’t…the only savior we had left back in the day Rawkus records????? real hip hop wasn’t interesting anymorer…rap music took over hip hop along time ago….so now we have the J.Cole’s and Kendrick’s who are underground rappers who have the backings of Dr. Dre and Jay-Z now and are able to be in the spotlight next to rap music wack ass rappers but I’m misguided because he’s trying to take his game to the next level….. GTFOH……

      • Mongo Slade

people kill me who think real hip hop is one type of style WTF yall niggas talking about? The first hip hop song ever Rappers Delight was dance / party music — party music and fun will always be a part of the culture as it should be — if anything the game just lacks balance and originality and style Kendrick has all of it — Puffy made dope music and bought out Biggie so niggas can say what they want but truth is besides Mos Def and Pharoe Monch and maybe a couple of others most of that Rawkus shit was underground wackness!!! However much respect to Rawkus bcuz it gave Talib Kweli and Mos Def a platform

      • Thomas Smith

your missing the point, I understand that the point was that was a party record with dope rhymes and a message…..we are not getting all those type of records from dope mc’s like, the fact is most of the rappers that are out are not that hot with the exceptions that we are talking about on this page……

      • Thomas Smith

And I know hip hop very well sir….

      • Mongo Slade

I don’t doubt u don’t know hip hop but IMO a lot of people base what is considered “REAL” hip hop or even real music in general on their childhood experience but that is a foolish and subjective argument at best — many people that I see discuss hip hop are biased and far from objective in their analysis

      • Thomas Smith

true but I don’t I a sure you of that I guess you can say been there don’t that I remember the first records I was listening to was the last poets who to me became the standard of what hip hop is as a society though times have changed but the game of hip hop doesn’t

      • john lips

i doubt it. i’ve been listening to hip-hop since 83. and i’m an mc.
        ain’t nothing you’re telling me.

      • john lips

1000’s of mc’s spit better than kendrick lamar. i could be here all day.

      • Dubz

You saying a lot but not mentioning names…who do you listen too.

      • Obi Won

        Such as….

    • Judah Nazayar

if anything..he had a dope delivery and approach. technically….hes not that technical. as anybody with sense… saw who cleaned up…

    • JMack

your ignorant and your favorite rapper is prob immortal technique those aren’t rappers them niggas are deranged idiots who got bars but say demoonic shit that’s not rap rap is a lifestyle you relate to ppl

    • BigHomie337

I been saying this for the longest homie.

  • Live Well

Kendrick is saying Hip Hop needs a good purging.

    • Dubz

Word….I love it too. You see how many rappers are hyped and ready to spit.

      • johnblacksad

        Mission accomplished! Good look Kendrick!

      • Live Well

  • Slience

I’m Glad that a rapper from Compton Name Kendrick Lamar Told these Rappers to step their game up. I hate the music I listen to nowadays its the same shit, no substance, no rhythm just rapping about fronting about how much money they have, or how many bitches they bang. what happen to the art of hip hop? out of the artists I hear I love listening to AZ the best rapper not mentioned or appreciated top 5 in my eyes I love k-dot,j-cole, big krit, jay electronica those are rappers I can say lyrically sick drake sounds like a lil wayne vanilla ice deutchbag no offence drake fans he’s still a gifted artist but lyrically just a another dude. wake up hip hop no more rappers sounding like bamas and wait a minute put 2 chainz on there how the hell you given a guy for songwriter of the year? and he’s the wackest of them all? put waka flocka on there sheesh who’s setting the bar? the music, lyrist or the fact that someone caught the bullshit and letting y’all know to step their shit up.

    • BigHomie337

U sound dumb as hell. U actually wrote that u hate the music u listening 2!! Lol. Stop listening 2 wack shit than. It’s really that simple in case u didn’t know.

      • Slience

you a dumb ass i’m old school I listen to rap that matters big, pack, jay, nas the music I listen to now is shit get yo shit straight homie you internet fool I know u be typing all day going back and forth and i’m a educated nigga with a bachelors degree who’s sound dumb as hell me speaking facts or the fact you can’t handle heat that’s coming out of the kitchen bitch

    • johnblacksad

2chainz is far from wack… he might not be ‘deep’ nor ‘conscious’ but he got one hell of a nice way with putting words together…

“court date, skip trial, my rep is a reptile
nine later, alligators, i stepped on the world like a stepchild”

If 2chainz was a painter, he’d be a surrealist like Salvador Dali

  • om3n78

ok when things fall out the booth and he the streets i dont wanna hear the media started it

  • om3n78

the only new york dude that can reply to this is killa cam not camron but killa cam and yes there is a diffrence

    • Obi Won

Killa is chilling now, he’s in a different Era, and wouldn’t reply, he would have to get his young boy Vado to do it

      • Thomas Smith

vado ain’t got it in him my man….sorry

  • killaa_mc

the man from compton and say he the king of new york, pac never even said he was king of new york.. that disrespect imo.. either disrespect or just a stupid thing to say, dont make much sense really.
i think ive heard 1000 rappers proclaim to be king of new york, add another one to the list..

kendrick too scared to mention wayne, meek mil, ross, etc. them guys wackest of them all.. guess he knows where the moneys at.

    • Thomas Smith

But he did mention meek mill…smh

      • Thomas Smith

and why would he mention lil’ wayne that nigga garbage, he’s been getting shitted on by drake since he sign him……

      • Freebe Jackson

now i have to question if that man even listened to the song lmao…he definitely mentioned meek mill…..

    • MrJayK

Why would Kendrick be “scared” to go at the wackest cats?? That doesn’t make any sesnse, kid. He name-checked the best of the new generation, and compared himself to the best of all time. That ain’t “scared”, that’s confident and hungry. That’s hip-hop.
And, @om3n78:disqus – Cam, Cam’Ron, Killa Cam; whatever you wanna call him, ain’t ever been in this kid’s league homie.

      • killaa_mc

haha cam aint in the same league cuz he above kendrick, givin too much props to the kid way too soon.. but thats what happens when there aint many solid rappers out there..not many to choose from.

drake also said he was the best “last name ever first name greatest”.. every fukin rapper says they r the best, kendrick aint even top 20 all time, kids gotta relax

      • MrJayK

What has Cam ever done to get on a list of “great” MCs?? C’Mon man! Not even close. Nobody’s saying he’s the best of all time, they’re just recognizing real.

      • killaa_mc

never said he was great, just above kendrick.. cam’s only problem is he will body a track then the next track is just some dumb shit, doesnt try enough.. SDE and come home with me are where its at when it comes to cam

      • MrJayK

Sorry. I have to disagree homie. Cam’s not touchin Kendrick lyrically.

      • killaa_mc

that’s hiphop, aint nobody agreeing on anything when it comes to hiphop lol.
if everyone agreed, we’d all be listening to the same thing.

      • Thomas Smith

I think he knows that too…..

    • Freebe Jackson

he dont need to mention ross or wayne…he said he better then all the old niggaz and put his self in the same category as nas, jay, em, andre 3k…..he saying he the best new nigga and names the well known new niggas that people say can rap as a challange to prove he the best…basically if any of the people he named think they better then prove it ….stop making all this bull shit molly rap and step ya bars up

    • Global_Mission

Hey Dumb Ass he did say Meek Mil..smh.

    • killaa_mc

haha i missed meek mill names when i read it and every jumps on u.. okay people, everyone’s Einstein now..

Talib Kweli’s comment said the most. Had me laughing out loud up in the crib.

    • James Cali Greene

he just said what needed to be said for a long ass time

    • johnblacksad

Me too… he killed’em all with one tweet!

      Talib’s my man no homo

  • Global_Mission

Every Rapper and Every Fan should throw away every verse they heard this year bc Kendric just killed the MF Game!!

    • og kush

Lupe poor decisions bodies this verse

      • Global_Mission

I like that verse too fam, but this verse by Kendrick is it for me.. Shit is fire plus it put a pulse back into the game.

      • og kush

Word. I wish Lu would call out half the game but he on that harmony tip.

      • Global_Mission

Don’t count Lu out tho. He friendly but he aint no punk when it comes to the Mic.

      • og kush

Def not a punk, half his shit is g6s flyin over niggas heads

      • Obi Won

As a Lupe fan, nobody would take him seriously, right now, it would take a dude like KDOT to spit that verse. Those two are similar, but Lupe is on the friendlier side of things like u said. Lupe proved himself a plenty, with SLR “Super Lupe Rap” as an example in response to when Soulja Boy said his ish.

  • I love it!! He got niggas talking! Hopefully these garbage ass rappers step up their game and spit lyrics now and not that pop gum rap shit. I know some NY cats are fuming also at what he said..
im fine with it though. I know bronson and troy ave gonna hold us down

  • NEWSKULL

WOW Kendrick went Hulk on US… lmao voice change and everything or maybe that was his true swag from the beginning… mmm naaw! he went extra hard that’s all…
shit and I was thinking Kendrick didn’t have that ambition… like dude could co-exist with Drake and Cole… I guess it is on… let’s keep it healthy though …
So let break it down: Leader of the New school TOP 5
    1- King COLE
    2- Kendrick Lamar
    3- Drake
    4- ASAP ROCKY
5- Big Sean/Wale tie… man on some real shit 5- WALE … Forget Big Sean…

    what y’all think?

    • killaa_mc

def agree with cole at number 1

    • Global_Mission

Kendrick then J. Cole for me. They both run neck and neck so either way you flip it its a good start to the new school list. Oh and Wale > Big Sean and Asap Rocky

      • NEWSKULL

Concerning Wale I thought the same thing but I feel like ASAP Rocky got way more potential… I feel like right now he is just playing around with his rhymes cauz the level is so low… but if he decide to go hard like Kendrick did, Wale can’t mess with him…and IMO The verse he spit on Rihanna cockiness is proof of it…

      • Global_Mission

Time will tale. Kendrick has just made Rappers hungry again. I can’t wait to see what comes of it.

    • JMack

bro you niggas really ignorant if you think drake is that nice meek millz is betta than that bum nigga drake yah ppl like too much, mainstream dudes Joey badass and ab soul and schoolboy betta then that Canada dry bitch drake my mane common smoked that nigga already please actually listen too these ppl before you idolize this ass rappers like they dope

    • Juan M. Cabrera

      Who are these people????

    • Juan M. Cabrera

Seriously…when it comes to lyrics top 10 now would be

      1. Eminem
      2. Lil Wayne
      3. Talib Kweli
      4. Skyzoo
      5. Fabolous
      6. Joell Ortiz
      7. Joe Budden
      8. Termanology
      9. Kendrick Lamar
      10. Wale

Yo King Cole gotta be under a lot of pressure… You made Nas proud and he gave you the crown …now you must STAY number one… Kendrick didn’t really give a damn about all the other rappers his real target is J COLE… Drake want J Cole head too… But Niggas better watch out y’all don’t want Cole to “ETHER” PART 2 your ass…

    • JMack

you buggin if you think Cole betta then Kendrick mane all I’m gonna say is Cole talks facts but he tries too much to be like hov kdot bats are vividly raw and real that’s why on forbidden fruit he didn’t want Kendrick to have a verse cause he would of killed it and really pusha t too me better then Cole niggas be smoking think in Cole is that real

  • Mec-One

“HOF”???? FOH it was good but not even his best …. the beat was sub par and cats is only proping him up cause he named names ….plus he said he tryin’ ….not saying he will or can body all the names named ……. voice aggression don’t cut it …. I need bars

  • BigHomie337

Once again the media and music executives succeed in force feeding an artist 2 us and making something bigger than it really is. He dropped names but never dissed any1 really. Kendrick is a good artist but there’s nothing gr8 about him and 2 say he’s been anointed the next big thing, he still hasn’t given us the big record that makes ppl on the fence about him jump over the fence. He hasn’t even has a true hit. And as fat as proclaiming himself 2b the best, rappers have been saying that 4eva.

    • Surf

How can you judge by having a true hit in this hip hop climate when bullshit songs are usually the ones that are top of the charts?

    • Chico Dusty

No disrespect to your comment but its everything thats wrong w/ hip-hop. Listen to his music, that whole Good Kid, Mad City album is dope and its actually art! Rap has gotten into selling albums rather than building the culture. If we went strictly by billboard success, I guess Flocka and Gucci are better than Jay Electronica…*_*
