Lebron James Will Not Play Next Season If Donald Sterling Is Still Los Angeles Clippers' Owner (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In this catpitalist world where a billionaire can remain an NBA after a decade of allegations of racism, Lebron James is putting his money where his message is. In a trailer for an upcoming episode of Jim Rome on Showtime, the Vice President of the Players Association outlined Lebron James’ plans for next year if Donald Sterling remained the Los Angeles’ Clippers head coach.

While current President of the Players Association, Chris Paul and his Los Angeles Clippers are entrenched in a playoff battle with the Oklahoma City Thudner, the Players Association VP Roger Mason Jr discussed the Donald Sterling controversy. In the short clip, Mason Jr made a declarative statement that could change the entire 2014-2015 NBA season:

I was just in the locker room, three or four days ago. Lebron and I talked about it. He ain’t playing if Sterling is still an owner.

Lebron James signed a 6 year / $109.84 million deal with Miami in 2010 with over $67 million guaranteed. However, James has a clause in his contract that allows him to opt-out and test free agency by the June 30th deadline.

Roger Mason Jr’s full interview on Jim Rome on Showtime will air tonight (May 14th) at 9pm.

I would love to see this

  • Jonathan Bacher

If this goes down, I assure the NBA is backing him from this point on already.

  • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

He playing regardless. These new niccas aint built like that to stand for something. Truth no hate!

  • YouKnowNothing

That’s a cute bluff but the world knows you’re lying. You would never leave $22 million on the table. Never. But hey, that’s cool if you do sit out. The NBA will go on…

  • WORLD DOMINATOR

F*ck Le Bron, the egomaniac, in his lil hussy fit! We DON’T WANT HIM playing, uif he thinks he can dictate the rules of the league! Like he hasn’t said an anti-white, latin or asian remark in his private life….F*CK HIM!

    • RapItUp

**key word, private life.. Difference is, Sterling’s words became public (doesn’t matter how). Soo.. When you’re in a position of power and liable for such things, you’re more careful of saying what you REALLY feel… Mr. Bigot

    • Brooklyn Stoop

lol, damn donald you mad at lebron now

      • $42709766

how is what he said in anyway racist

      • Brooklyn Stoop

where did i say he said anything “racist”

      • $42709766

“damn donald you mad at lebron now” what else would you be saying with that statement

      • Brooklyn Stoop

what else would i be sayign with that statement????

i said what i said. damn donald you mad at lebron now. now AGAIN where did i say someone comment was racist, your leaving comments but havent addressed YOUR post “how is what he said in anyway racist”

    • NYComicBookGuy

Damn, Donald! Shouldn’t you be staying quiet? And why are you on All Hip-Hop anyway? you jerk!

  • $42709766

So if the NBA cant legally do anything to make him sell or if it gets drawn out in court hes not gonna play? The NBA already made it clear theyre gonna try to oust himt what else does he want them to do. Aside from that youre willing to hurt the NBA brand even more as their Superstar by sitting out and in turn influencing others to sit out? irrational thinking.

  • Brooklyn Stoop

Your bark was loud……….but the bite wasnt vicious.

you dont tell someone what your gonna do NEXT SEASON if the problem from THIS SEASON isnt fixed…………..all that do is give the league a time frame to do whatever they want to do. if they woulda stopped play NOW during the damn Playoff TRUST AND BELIEVE donald sterling woulda BEEN out cause the bite WAS vicious. but if the players couldnt sacrifice the playoff and the BIG money that generates to DEMAND change then what power you think they gonna have next season when every player get that notice saying “if you engage in any form of protest of boycotts then we will do this to you.-signed the NBA”

    • Keith N.

If you would’ve said Lebron’s statement was “so bootylicious” I would’ve called this the comment of the year.

    • therealjjohnson

Right. Now if he said he was sitting out of the NBA Finals this season then he would get some movement. I understand all of the hoopla but you cant just make someone sell something of theirs. Its doesnt work like that in a society of rules and laws and court proceedings. People are speaking off emotional and not realizing this is not a simple task and will take time.

      • Brooklyn Stoop

and thats my thing, if he or any player wanna make a REAL point then you make that statement NOW, not later when the smoke clears and life goes on and the fire is out. its like me wanting to have a million hoodie march for trayvon this weekend, who gona show up? thats why they say strike while the fire is hot…………..

  • DC King Of Hearts

While I do not see this having the effect he’s going for, gotta give bruh props for standing up. What I would like to see is not just LeBron, but other big names joining him and gettin involved

  • MrNoName2K

Man he just talking to talk.. as if he didnt know Sterling and co. was already on they way out..

    • Dubz

Sterling will still be owner before the start of next season….eventually he will be outed but not by the time next season starts…especially if he serious about taking it to court.

    • Mark Lamount Burns

Maybe he does know about Sterling on his way out, but maybe he also knows that when racial slurs have come out the mouths of famous Caucasians, they were reprimanded/fired and then were brought right back to doing the SAME JOB (Imus). I’m guessing that LeBron sees this trend and is taking a stand where many of us need to be. But I could be wrong.

  • HATER PROOF

good….stand for nothing and fall for anything…..KEEP THESE (FRANCHISES)
IN CHECK…..that clippers jersey and (LOGO)….is (N.B.A. merchandise)
Donald just (own the real estate)…not the N.BA. hes…(voted in) now (voted out)…
and gone buy you out for top dollar too…bet the rest shut they mouth in public or private! talking down on a BLACK MAN

“if Donald Sterling remained the Los Angeles’ Clippers head coach.”

It’s too serious of a matter to be having the habitual typos… jus sayin

    • Oh, I thought I was just late & Doc Rivers quit!

  • I like what he’s doing, but he was gonna opt out anyway. we will see how this plays out though. i think if players on the clippers demand to be free agents the league should pay their legal fees if they TRULY SUPPORT the players.

  • EniggaMA

    i call bullshit

  • Sydewayz Soundz

BULLSHIT>>>HE AINT GONNA PASS ON ALL THAT MONEY>>>HE FULL OF SHIT

    • Twonpass

maybe you dont have principles that you abide by , but he has shown that he is a man of principle.

and money aint everything, once you realize it

      • ShortDogg

I agree big homie! I agree! This guy shows nothing but weakness! I feel sorry for his kids, if he have any!!!

    • ShortDogg

He has enough money! When he look into his kids eyes that is all what matters. He can make a stand for all man kind and abroad. Our future children will benefit from his boycott! It is a voice homie! Stand up!

  • yesanditcounts

I think not only will LeBron not play, but most players won’t. I applaud them. The players have the real power in the situation, and I believe they will display it. The owners know this. Besides if Sterling doesn’t want black players let him start an all white league and see were that goes.

  • AK

lebron acting like he was gonna go to the clippers

  • John Q. Public

Lebron needa say it himself for me to believe any of that

    • Elayorx El

      Exactly.

  • Reblogged this on Msstraightnocut.

  • David Gonz

HE WAS NEVER THE COACH LOL.

  • Mack

IF this happens I for one applaud LeBron. People need to take a stand way possible for racists to lose power. It’s about time to make idiots like Sterling obsolete.

  • ShortDogg

I hope this is true with Lebron. Our voices can be heard together once again around the world that we are not accepting ignorance!!!!

  • BigMikey

Obviously Donald Sterling should be moved out of the NBA as his opinions are definitely wrong; however, what is the difference between this and what Lauryn Hill supposedly said regarding her album and white people and then her statement in defense claiming what she meant was she “loves her people, black people and will continue to make music for them” I can just imagine if a white singer said they would continue to make music for “THEIR” people….and what backlash would ensue. And Spike Lee addressing the Donald Sterling issues is just laughable…considering he has something in common with that man.

    • Brooklyn Stoop

“what is the difference between this and what Lauryn Hill supposedly said regarding her album and white people ”

Besides the fact that your boy donald have a HISTORY of this type of “opinion” as you say………….Besides the fact that your boy donald have a TRACK RECORD of having this type of “opinion” as you say. putting those two things aside……….the DIFFERENCE is this, donald DID say what we know he said…………your bringing up something according to YOU Lauryn Hill SUPPOSEDLY said regarding her album and white people. thats the difference, your bringing up a supposed statement and we are talking bout a documented event.

my question to you and your people is this
why yall associate black people getting along and loving one and other as a threat to white (supremacy) people?

    • Ipullcards

Creative art and a business with by laws and rules are 2 different things bro

  • Aurelijus

so i hope donald stays. 2015 nba champ kobe

    • Cedric Page

Sucky way to get a championship…

  • he a owner now and he still playing lebron james need to stop fronting chasing 3500 trophy and a 200,000 ring and bragging rights when hes worth millions.

  • Brooklyn Stoop

Heat downplay Roger Mason Jr.’s talk of LeBron-led boycott if NBA doesn’t force Donald Sterling to sell

  • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

He will play regardless. Stop playing yourself LeBron!

    • Sean Taylor

      Of course he will.

Magic tweeted he’ll never go to a Clippers game as long as Stering was the owner. A few weeks after that tweet (few days ago) he was at the Clippers game. He didn’t loose anything going to a game…no way in hell ANYBODY is giving up millions to not play if Sterling is still the owner.

  • Black Is Beautiful

Would all these even be an issue if Sterling’s PRIVATE conversation was never recorded? Let’s pretend for a second that their conversation stayed private. He would still have those same racist opinions but still be a part of the Clippers. The only thing different is that he didn’t offend a lot of people.

Now I don’t agree with nor am I trying to defend Sterling’s opinions, but as far as I know, he didn’t run his organization in a racist fashion. He might have had a history of racist opinions but he’s smart enough to know that he can’t really act on those opinions in today’s society.

What I’m trying to get at is do we really want to start a precedent where it’s okay to prosecute individuals if enough people disagree with one’s opinions? What was Sterling’s crime that justifies society of taking away his property? Is it a crime to have an unpopular opinion?

    • Sean Taylor

There was NO crime committed and it was a private conversation that was illegally recorded as per the laws of California being a 2 party state.

This all sounds like a good gesture, but what’s the point if the league is already in the process of removing Sterling? These dudes had their chance to take a stand when the tapes came out, and all they did was turn their shirts inside out.
