Drake Says He And J. Cole Are The "Only Two Kings" In Rap At Concert Kendrick Lamar Performed At (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Divide and conquer. Yesterday (July 23rd), Drake had some choice words about himself and J. Cole during his surprise appearance at J. Cole’s Dollar and A Dream tour stop in Los Angeles.

During the first of two shows at the Los Angeles, CA stop of Cole’s Dollar and A Dream tour, the North Carolina rapper brought out Drake as a surprise guest. At the end of Drake’s performance, he remarked “There’s only 2 kings in this sh*t right now, and they standing on this stage.”

During Cole’s second show, he brought out Kendrick Lamar as his guest. Drake and Kendrick Lamar are two of the only rappers who have debuted since 2009 that have released platinum-selling albums.

Check out a snippet of Kendrick Lamar performing “Backseat Freestyle” and Drake’s proclamation below:

Niccas is so soft they all got emotional like did yall miss the whole east vs west beef that was some serious shyt. Kendrick was just catchin a body fade amongst homies.. Niccas act like he sprayed they mama crib up… smh..

  • grabo2003

*sighs* miss drizzy, there can only be one king in a kingdom so kissing j cole’s ass ain’t convincing. He must just get on a song and clap back at Kendrick then it’s game on….in the meantime K.Dot rules the roost with just a single verse and a refreshing album among the new cats…..

  • gurdyghost

    sassy miss drizzy strikes again….

    • Celz

      Sassy? I’m dead… lmfao

  • The Arsonist

Drake Cramping. get him some Pamprin.

  • jd

Man Kendrick next album he’s definitely coming at mc’s

  • Calico Joe

Big K.R.I.T. over all these n*ggas

    • MikeBrownsKiller

lol your funny, he’s shit , so inconsistent ,
im not a hater though, one song will be nice then the next 3 are horrible

      • AlbertoRipRon

Just say it bruh, its cool. Homeboy is pure garbage.

      • John Q. Public

…please name who your top 3 in the game right now is?

      • AlbertoRipRon

Oh this is where I name my top 3 and you use my selection as the basis on declaring the validity of my previous opinion.

Not interested in that game bruh. Ask me later when you’re not trying to discredit my opinion on dude. Big K.R.I.T. is wack. My opinion. End of story.

      • John Q. Public

        how about now… top 3?

  • This is why I can’t stand him and refuse to listen to his music…Dude is way too cocky, let the music speak for itself…Let the fans give you the title, they are the ones who make you hot…Tired of these artists always talking smack, just perform and keep it moving.

    • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

Co sign that bro, he always throwing stones. He fears k-dot. Don’t sound like a man running hip hop to me.

      • acb87

jay feared nas and he was running hiphop at the time?the 2 things have nothing to do with each other

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

Jay Z and Nas have nothing to do with this either.

      • Nicole

Its an example of a similar situation. If you think kendrick is running hip hop at this moment, you’re delusional. A Classic made 2 years ago isnt going to cement his place.

      • BIG MIKE SOMETHING SERIOUS

Never Said kdot running anything. Drake always throwing shots at KDOT, this not the first time.

    • acb87

all rappers are cocky its a competitive form of music.

  • 313 Intelligence

Cant blame him for thinking that. Drake, J.Cole, and Kendrick are the only Rappers from this new era that are gonna be around 5 yrs from now.

    • RapItUp

The point I think this article is alluding to, is Drake specifically left Kendrick out of that statement despite the general consensus which would’ve included Kendrick in such a statement

  • Brindle

drake scary ass need to quit the scary disses

    • Drake

How is that a scary diss? Kendrick was there to hear me say that

  • Gonja

Hearing a drama queen call himself a King… Lmao

  • jeezuz_walkz

yea like drake is a prominent hip hop figure… ughh.. everyone on cash money is trassssssssh…… he aint a king his damn self!!! he’s a bitch and a half.

    • remi

numbers dont lie…. he selling the most… so he does have a point

      • haha

if its about selling then macklamore is on the list …..

      • Johnny Boy

        And MC Hammer. Lmao.

      • Judah Nazayar

MC HAMMER SOLD WAY MORE THAN HE EVER DID..
so i guess Hammer is the KING/GOAT/EMPEROR..
and vanilla Ice is heir apparent

      • Celz

Jay Z has more #1 albums than anyone ever besides the Beatles. If Drake doesn’t jump off a bridge somehwere..

      • Dennis

Drake passed him on the R&B/Hip-hop chart: Most #1

      • Celz

Oh yea Drake dropped 14 albums.. What are they called? I must have messed most of them..

      • Dennis

I misread your comment but give drake time if jay can keep his “work” this long im sure drake can

      • Dennis

Honestly Jay-Z is some shit …but his legacy can’t be denied as one of the rap kings

      • jeezuz_walkz

and thats means he’s hip hop? ummm no…

    • wickedjones

      0 to 100, ni@@a real quick.

  • regalpimp

Jay, Nas, Em, hell even Wayne to some degree…But Drake??? King of pop rap, maybe . But hip hop??? Nah dude…Kendrick is ahead of you on that list…

    • Nicole

Lyrics and storytelling, yes. But flow, sound, beats, album sales, fan base, bangers etc. Are all drake and they are about the same age.

      • Celz

        So yea thats pop rap….

      • Nicole

Pop rap is superbass. Drake dont do that shit. dont try and reach. I said kendrick Was better at that but drake is good with Lyrics and storytelling.

      • Dennis

To keep it hot drake doesn’t really go bar for bar he gets caught in melodies which is good but you can’t sleep on his lyrics either before or after he got signed && as for Kendrick ?…That’s a lyricist but his beats don’t cut it and he doesn’t have enough work out yet to make a valid point about his sales.

  • Clondyke Classic

My top 10 new school rappers list:

    5.) King Los
    6.) Drake
    7.) Freddie Gibbs
    8.) Propain
    9.) Nipsey Hussle
    10.) Kevin Gates

    • Judah Nazayar

gibbs, lamar… u have the rest of them niccas… straight armpit juice my dude

      • Clondyke Classic

        That’s your opinion

    • tywan mobley

no big sean no wale no meek mill no asap rocky smh

  • Clondyke Classic

If you really think Drake can’t rap I question your rap IQ. I don’t even fucc wit homie but I gotta give credit where it’s due

    • RapItUp

It’s not about his talent on the mic.. The guy can rap, ok. But his subject matter, wishy washy demeanor, the diva attitude.. Lack of solid, thorough brotha background.. Which isn’t a required prerequisite.. But he talks like he got it. Then we get girly antics like this.. You want us to respect him just because he got some flow?? Nicki can flow too, when she wants.. But…

      • Nicole

Why should he change when thats what’s selling? Drake dont even gotta try and he gets a platinum album. Why should he go hard when easy is successful (in his case) ?

      • RapItUp

I never said he should change.. But Nicole, when you come on ALL HIP HOP, don’t expect him to get love when he over there going ‘easy’. I’ll even go as far to say, he should remain easy, he’s got his fan base, making loads of cash.. Endorsements, etc.. But don’t scream that king of hip hop shit when there’s some real hitta raps out here.. Especially dude he trying to shit on. He just needs to stay in his lane, is my gripe. If he wants to come to that true hip hop arena, he needs to man up and handle that.. Or at least, that true (mainstream) hip hop arena, let’s say that.

      • Derrick Winding

Tupac Said it Best “Make Music For The Bitches, Not the niggas. Cuz the Niggas gunna Buy what the butches want”…..but im not sayin Drake is close to Tupac

      • RapItUp

Excellent rebuttal though.. Hard to argue w/ that logic lol

      • Celz

Drake don’t make music for the same “bitches” Tupac did…

      • Derrick Winding

Yeah but new times means new bitches

      • Celz

Pac rapped to women and high school girls could relate because they are becoming women. Drake raps to high girls and women don’t relate because they aren’t high school girls. I don’t know any women over 25 that take Drake seriously.

      • Derrick Winding

Bro Women Love Drake, Stop showing shade bro, You think just High school girls like drake….thats dumb

      • Celz

Stating the truth isn’t throwing shade. Dude is a shallow artist like the whole young money roster. Drake caters to the 25 and under demo. I don’t know any women in their thirties that’s Drake fans. I already have him props for being one of the best all around writers out, you’re nuts if you think his shallow ass should be heralded as the king of Hip Hop because he sells and writes good. Hip Hop is more than that. He’s barely ahead of Macklemore in even being included in Hip Hop in the first place. So what is Frank Ocean and Trey Songs Hip Hop too.. Stop it..

      • Clondyke Classic

I didn’t say respect him or not. I was just pointing out that niggas that say he can’t rap just hatin. I’on like this nigga music but I aint gon deny his talent just cuz I’on like him

      • RapItUp

I’m in the same boat.. Don’t knock his music because I don’t listen to it. But I’ve heard him featured on a few verses and know what he’s capable of.. But.. Just not my style

    • Judah Nazayar

u seem to okay alotta boolshit..
      (furious styles voice)…
OH YEAH,, SUMN WRONG.. TOO BAD U DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS

      • Clondyke Classic

You seem to be a hater. I aint gotta fucc with a nigga to salute em. That’s just real

  • Tyler Durden

Tucked a sensitive rapper back into his pajama clothes… Ha-Ha, Drake is still on his period !!!

  • Pingback: Drake Says He And J. Cole Are The “Only Two Kings” In Rap At Concert Kendrick Lamar Performed At (VIDEO) | I Am Mo Better()

  • mma slappy

Drake if you didn’t make 30 chick songs on your album you would probably sell 4 albums

    • Johnny Boy

      Preach

  • Nemesis_Enforcer

I see what Drake TRIED to do but I can’t respect it. Kendrick sold more albums on GKMC then J. Cole’s first two albums combined. So how can Cole be a king but Kendrick isn’t? #JustTheFacts

    • Drake

Are you mad that I said that shit infront of his face? And you can’t compare his to mine because I dominate him in album sales.

      • Judah Nazayar

are u still getting ur salad tossed? get off that soft shit

      • Celz

You didnt sell shyt. And Drake sells commercial radio ready r&b and fake thug rap that is either playing to women’s emotions or following whatever is trending.. Kendrick went plat on a concept album with no club singles and one radio single. No comparison if you ask me. No hate either Drake may be the best all around writer in the game today (talkin hit songs in general not emceein here).

      • Drake

The time it took Kendrick to go platinum, Drake went double. I took kendrick damn near a year to go platinum. And that one radio single was produced by OVO “Swimming Pools”. And listen to Kendricks interlude on Take care, you’d hear him talking about how drake schooled him about the women being the tastemakers for the shit they making. Shit even 2pac said that bro.

      • Celz

You aren’t Drake you fuccin wierdo. And Drake targets a much broader audience so he would obviously sell more. Minivans outsell sports cars.. So your point is irrelevant. Drake is the walmart of r&b that occasionally raps about fake thug shyt when he feels insecure… He’s talented but lame.. And his fakeness is tarnishing his legacy..

      • Drake

Lol “walmart”, You hating ass niggas crack me up. Drake is a legend and has had a much harder impact on the community than Kendrick, Shit if I had the most number ones and sell albums as a hip hop artist I would be calling myself a king. And what song does he rap about “Thug shit” He never raps about himself doing anything pertaining to that. It’s about the people around him. Drake damn sure releases more content and is more consistent and is better than Kendrick. He’s not fake, Kendrick couldn’t beat drake one on one. And drake is so high up he doesn’t even have to rap to pay the bills unlike kendrick.

      • Celz

You sound stupid cheerleading for a lost nicca that wouldnt even speak to you. Rappers I look up to like Common and Nas had convos with me when I crossed paths with them. And making someone around him catch a body like that is called green lighting someone in the streets, and its so illegal you get the same charge as the murderer. This is allhiphop dot com Drake is only even mentioned because he’s a great writer therefore he raps good. Nothing else about the man is hip hop hes obviously more comfortable with r&b there is nothing wrong with that btw. He just needs to be himself legends are made by being true not chasing trends. And he’s 0-3 in battles right now he doesn’t want it with KDot. Hip Hop heads remember when Luda, Common, and now Jay Z served him.

      • Drake

Well you must not know drake because this guy loves his fans bro, he even visited a sick girl that reached out to him on twitter. Drake is a down to earth ass person. And c’mon pls Common was mad because Drake was messing around with his girl lol. Luda is irrelevant bro and Common got destroyed by drake in “Stay schemin”. And Jay Z didn’t serve anything but a weak attempt of coming at Drake. No one has really ever won against drake, if they did his career still hasn’t took a big hit yet. Only compitetion I see out of the three you named is Jay Z. But even jay Z sold like a million albums to samsung to go platnium he aint do it like Drake.

      • Celz

Did you just compare Drake to JayZ? Really? Jay has more number 1 albums than Micheal Jackson, Elvis, Garth Brooks, Beyonce, etc etc etc. There is no solo artist in the history of music with more number 1 albums than the man. And only 1 group tops him, the Beatles. You’re delusional. Listen to some rap that goes platinum without following high school trends. That’s music. When you appeal to people younger than you to sell records it’s Pop Rap. Listen to Andre 3000 and see if you can spot the difference between him and Drake.

Drake raps about basic subject matter. I definitely won’t go into how to rap and how writing a story is twice as hard as stinging together incoherent punchlines (Lil Wayne). But I rap, and I am good, better than most on the radio. Not better than Drake honestly. But his type of music is much easier to write than Kendrick’s I know, I’ve done both.

The problem is you’re not a Hip-Hop fan.

      • RapItUp

lol skimming through related articles, funny seeing people mention Drake as a writer now.. haha

      • Celz

Yea he’s a writer in the pop sense.. Drake writes hits for himself, and for others, and let’s others write his hits.. He’s not an emcee though.. He’s in competition with Dream not Kendrick.. You get it?

      • RapItUp

oo, I get it, alright.. loud and clear. Def. not an MC..

  • Maitreya One

haha clown shit! Hiphop needs it’s own city

  • AlbertoRipRon

How did we let these lames into the rap game is beyond me. This butterfly biscuits horse whisperer needs to shut up.

  • Immortal

I feel it’s another one of these moments……

  • Judah Nazayar

these nikkas??? man, thats the weakest kingdom ever!!!

  • tdot

what is a KING??? IS IT DETERMINED ON how many albums sold? who has more money? someone who has revoluntionized hiphop? or all of the above?

its def! a shot he’s throwing at kendrick obviously so ppl don’t get your panties in a know…kendrick needs to go at drake and take his stance and show why he’s #1 for all the naysayers and to put drake in a position to fight back and settle the score

If anything, Drake should get on stage with Kendrick and say the same thing while J Cole watches off to the side. J Cole is almost on the same level as Tyga/Juicy J/2 Chainz… Drake is closer to the level of Lil Wayne, Kanye, 2014 Jay-Z. Drake + Kendrick is much bigger than J Cole + Drake or J Cole + Kendrick.

    • Clondyke Classic

      You talkin stupid

    • Kandice

Haha funny. No need to bring one down while the others are uplifted. All of them have a unique rap style. Drake is more emotional, while Cole is more raw and about struggle, same goes for Kendrick he has the more West coast rap style.

  • coolspidey

As far as relevance and importance in the game K.DOT, Drizzy, and Cole are the kings of Hip-Hop, maybe not of flowing, hard rhymes, or persona in the community. But obviously we are all here to debate because these three all came to together sparking massive amounts interest in the Hip-Hop community. I’m a fan of all three of these dudes because of the music they all put out. Not just because of their street cred, at the end of the day its all music bruh. None of them front about their past, pretending to be something their not. Therefore all of their popularity is based of opinion, skill, and overall record success.

  • Dennis

Em, Nas are the only kings I know ..As for drake ? : He’s a new refreshing style honestly nobody’s done it quite like him don’t knock his work until you actually listen stop assuming he can’t rap at & at the same time kendrick is signed with aftermath for a reason !? that nigga can spit POINT BLANK… personally I think drake should go bar for bar & kendrick should put out more work S/O to Hopsin he nice to:)

    • bisolabliss

Emmmm…No! Eminem ain’t the king of jack. Have a blessed and good day!

      • Dennis

How is he not ? …Lyrics, numbers, time Em has done it all and still puts out good work. Give me one good reason he isn’t the G.O.A.T
