Attorneys Defending Police Officers Behind Freddie Gray Case Wants Charges Dropped, Prosecutor Gone

THE FREDDIE GRAY CASE IS UNDERWAY, BUT LAWYERS WANT MOSBY GONE

It’s been a week since prosecutor Marylin Mosby charged the six police officers behind Freddie Gray’s case with manslaughter, second-degree murder, and assault. But now, not only do the officers’ attorneys want the charges dropped, but they also want Mosby dismissed from the case entirely if their request isn’t granted. According to the New York Times, the lawyers believe that Mosby’s office is motivated by “conflict of interest”. The lawyers tell The Times:

“Rarely in the history of any criminal case has a prosecutor so directly maintained so many conflicts of interest,” the defense lawyers stated in the motion.

The motion adds: “At best, the charges levied against these officers are extraordinary prosecutorial overreaching. At worst, they are something far more nefarious.”

The lawyers also have a 109-page document to help defend their requests for the six police officers. The death of Freddie Gray has caused a series of riots in the city of Baltimore in the last couple of weeks.
