I cosign with the school system part. When I was a high school junior, my Algerbra teacher missed the entire first week of school and a sub took his place. For 3 marking periods, all he did was tell us to do the questions that were in our textbooks. In the fourth marking period, he said that he was getting transferred to another school. For the rest of the year, he only came to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and never taught us anything.

Once, he actually sat at a student desk and fell asleep against the wall. His assistant didn't say or do anything, but she laughed a little. Sometimes, he'd bring his lunch into class and eat it at his desk, before or after he gave us the book pages. Since he was barely around for the 4th mp, he gave us the answers during our final exam.

I've yet to meet a substitute teacher who was willing to teach the class. They just sit at a desk and do nothing. Some of the subs I had even told us that he/she doesn't know much about the subject. That's crazy how people blame hip-hop for the dropout rate.
