Atlanta rap star Ludacris has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit by three producers from Chester, Pennsylvania, who claim the rapper stole their track and used it on his hit album The Red Light District.

The lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, alleges that Boogiii Men Entertainment Group sent a CD of beats to Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace label in 2004.

The three producers, Damon “Damethegreat” Mayfield, Markus “Vincent” Vick and Anthony Turner, claim their follow up calls to the label were met with lukewarm responses.

The men claim that when Ludacris released his CD The Red Light District in 2004, they noticed similarities between a track on the CD they submitted and Ludacris' track, titled "Get Back."

The producers credited for “Get Back” on Ludacris’ The Red Light District are The Medicine Men and Tic Toc.

Boogiii Men Entertainment Group is represented by James, Wells of Haines & Associates.

The Boogii Men have worked with artists like Charli Baltimore, Juelz Santana, Rampage of Flipmode Squad, Special Ed, Jaguar Wright and others.

So basically what this is, is..........

They sent the CD, inspired a hit, didn't get paid.

Suck it up and welcome to the Music Industry.  This happens all the time and is the main reason why REAL producers on the up and coming submit their music to artists and A&R's in person without giving them the actual beat untill a proposal/deal is made.

They broke there own compromise.

No empathy....

first of all why would u send a cd to a music artist. second y would u wait so long to try to sue ludacris. third it don't seem like the producers are working with the right people they stick with people who stay losing: charlie baltimore by itself is a shame, no hate she a good artist but where is she?

my question is y would he steal a beat when he has so many talented people on dtp, they wouldn't have a reason, it makes no sense to take a beat from just one particular cd that someone sent

Plus why shouldn't these guys tell the truth..get your head out of celebrities asses..this is BUSINESS...everybody is foul in this shit..and Luda might not have known the track was jacked...but he will have to come down with the money..he should talk to his producers and charge them on his turn...

What Up AHH Fam? Just some insight on what it takes to bring a suit against an artist who jacks for beats. 1st- you want to allow the song in question to have it's run on the radio and video outlets. That way you can determine how much money that song generated. Radio stations, video distributors have to be contacted to find out, what number of rotations (airplay), did the song get. All this can be sighted as a pattern that establishes the gross percentage worth of that single to album sales. Interviews with witnesses have to be done, the overall research can take more than a year. Boogii Ent. wanted to make sure all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed, so they can maximize the dollar amount of their lawsuit. Just some info for aspiring artist. So you don't get jerked with your eyes wide open. Always include a paper trail when dealing with people in this industry. Because record label people are SHADY! Peace Fam!
