T.I. Expected To Enter Into Plea Today

By Roman Wolfe

Rapper T.I. is expected to appear at the Federal Court House today (March 27) where he will plead guilty to multiple firearms charges.

The Associated Press reports that T.I. and his lawyers have been engaged in intense plea negotiations over the past several weeks.

The 27-year-old rapper will serve around 12 months in prison and will be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service, which consists of speaking to youth groups from around the country.

U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. is expected to review and accept the plea today around 1:30 P.M.

T.I., born Clifford Harris Jr., was charged with illegally possessing three machine guns and two silencers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

T.I. was arrested after he was set up by a bodyguard, who alerted agents with the ATF that he had purchased nine firearms on behalf of the rapper, who is a convicted felon and cannot legally purchase weapons on his own.

The rapper was caught attempting to purchase illegal machine guns and silencers on October 13 2007, from a man who was cooperating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.

T.I. is currently free on $3 million dollars bond, but is under strict house arrest at his Clayton County area mansion.

He is working on his sixth studio album, titled Paper Trail.

Yeah, congrats, you fucking blew it, T.I. Instead of being on the top of your game, you got popped for some stupid street shit.  Good thing you had enough money to minimize the penalty. 1,500 is a lot of hours of community service.

Like Jinx29 said, if it was anyone else, he would have been gone gone.

I like T.I.'s music as much as anyone, but I hope this post won't be flooded with a bunch of congrats for beating (sort of) this case. Another very public example of black folks not knowing how to act.

I know I may get a lot of hate for this, but really people, get it together. This is nothing to be proud of.

I feel where U comin' from, but @ the same time, do U really think these celebrities do ALL of their community service time?! Hell naw.  What T.I. did was wrong, but @ the same time, as a black person I would rather congradulate & support him rather than saying if it were anyone else they would've been gone gone.  All THEY want is for all of US to be in the system.  That's a given, that mane got money like fa real, fa real.  So when I say congrats, I'm not saying that what he did was right, I'm congradulating the sentencing he got and the opportunity he will have after his sentence to continue a normal life, if he doesn't make anymore mistakes.

He's doing some time and community service - that's good news for him and for us. Some of the comments here are startling. I think the important fact is that he's not a threat to society.

We're in a recession, we have troops overseas by the thousands... I'd rather my tax dollars were keeping criminals like child rapists, 1st degree murderers and the like locked up.

Good for TI! I'd rather have him out here making music for the people - not to mention how much good he'll do working in the community, talking to kids and such. Lord knows we need more people out there that they'll listen to.

Why would the government want T.I. in jail for 10 years? Look what happened to Shyne. He put out the "Godfather Buried Alive" joint and that was it.The government makes money off of all rap sales. The more albums an artist sells, than the more revenue the label makes (common sense I know) A higher revenue generated by the label equals more tax money. And guess what some of that tax money is used for? That's right...putting more brothers behind bars. How many relevant multi-platinum rappers (off of one cd) have spent more than one year in jail?

If T.I. gets the one year bid that will only increase his buzz. He's almost guaranteed of selling atleast 1.5 million.

Yeah, what the fuck happened to the mandatory minumums ??!?!?! That shit don't apply to T.I. ???? You know whats really fucked up. The government planting his ass back in the hood as a CI. And for everyone that thinks I'm hatin on the brother check the guidlines for yourself. My pops once told me the law only bends for niggas that bend. You do a favor for them, they do a favor for you. www.ussc.gov/r_congress/MANMIN.PDF

@ KST2G & Haughville,

Co-sign....

I so want to see the REAL PLEA AGREEMENT and not one that SABATINO has played around with....

**********************

Seriously though he had more guns then i can veer think of...How does a person walk from this? He was fully loaded....well armed.....and buying guns from his bodyguard wired....and recorded.....hmmmm, this don't sound like having money helps....cough snitch....cough snitch....

I like TI and all but something does not sound right here...yeah he has money but still come on....money does talk and let the bullshit walk but something very odd about a 7x felon walking....

This makes OJ SIMPSON look like his crime was a joke for him killing his wife and her lover at the time...

This basically lets American teens know that if they have money then go ahead and get caught because you will walk free...especially new and upcoming artists...

Fat Joe needs this type of case and walk to help him with his crummy album sales...lol

here's what they offered your boy febuary 28, 2008.

Atlanta based rapper T.I., who’s real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr was offered a 15 year plea agreement by prosecuting attorney David E. Nahmias.

The Mandatory min prison term for possession of a silencer is 10 years. The extra 5 years added to the prison term is due to T.I.’s extensive criminal history.

I got this from AP (american press) Now all of a sudden he cops to year. I understand people need a hero, but damn. You should have just went with Frank Lucas or Nicky Barnes.

Maybe its me, I know niggaz have little man crushes and all that but were missing key words like intense negotiations, and several weeks. What happen to living and dying by the decisions you make and eating the #'s when you get bagged (Hold yours Rem). Throw water on the little nigga cause it is impossible for those #'s to add up.  Word off advice for niggaz who know him personally or third party, get your lawyer game up cause niggaz is bout to start getting indicted!

@KST2G
It aint just about money cause I know regular niggaz who get away with shit everyday. The jails/prisons are so crowded that unless you commit a heinous act such as rape or murder, the chances of you doing a short sentence along with a fine and community service are high.

If all of you say the brother didn't flip then fuck it thats what it is, no one knows whats in a mans heart or what he does when his life or livliehood is on the line. If he didn't snitch bravo, I salute him and it shows the youth that if you have the money, you can buy guns, have felonies and do whatever you want because you'll probably only get 12 months and community service. But if he did snitch, then the nigga is a rat bastard who should be hung out to dry, but only he knows for sure. Peace

Poor Shyne got a raw deal, and he was only trying to defend his people. I hope to God he's able to get back into music when he's free and really be successful.

cosign@ Just_In you right man. Niggas on here is like crabs in a  barrel.

Man where is all this talk about niggas snitchin coming from? I'm just as curious as the next guy about how Tip got the deal he got but i ain't gonna go and label the guy a snitch based off assumption. At the end of the day I don't even care cuz it ain't like this nigga puttin food on my table.

What i also wanna know is how strict his house arrest is gonna be. Will he be able to go to the studio or even leave the state? If not, he need to do like Iverson did and have a party or concert at his crib. I'll buy them tickets!!
