I own the movie Oldboy. I hope this remake is just as good as the original...

I like will but I want him be a bad guy just once. Will is a great actor though. Remember him crying on fresh prince when his pops skipped out on him.

I swear Hollywood's ran out of ideas. They'll water down the remake to shit, I guarantee it. You really expect the Hollywood version to be covering subjects like incest, ripping man's teeth out with a hammer and munching on live squid? Worst idea ever and typical of Hollywood to take other films and happily fuck them up. Go watch the original along with the rest of 'the vengeance trilogy' if you ain't seen them yet, this remake will be shit in comparison

Will Smith in Old Boy- i just cant see how he pulls it off.  I like Will and all bu he's too pop/mainstream 4 something like old boy.

Will Smith is a very good actor with some range but please chill with the comparisons- Denzel is a top 5 -10 actor of all time. Period. Up there with DeNiro, Pacino, Sam. L, Nicholson, Hackman, Hopkins, Hanks lot.  

As much as I like Will Smith, there is NO way this film will be better than the original.

All of you, all of you that like movies, even if you HATE movies, you should watch Old Boy.  Then reread the article, then recomment.

Will Smith is the man, but this is a movie that 1. should not be/can't be remade to be "better" and 2. should not be starring the Fresh Prince!

Personally i believe Will is the greatest black actor of our generation. I mean, regardless of what you have to say, dude is a true inspiration. You go from being a young kid rapping about how "parents just dont understand", to being the first hip-hop artist to win a grammy, to a critically acclaimed tv show, to making blockbuster after blockbuster, to being one of the highest paid, most sought after actors in entertainment today. His kids are even tackling movies. Not to mention having a beautiful wife who is tackling her own corporate world. That's someone to aspire to be like

I see I'm not the only one who has seen the original Oldboy. Good movie indeed. How did you guys hear about it? I've been living in Asia for the past few years so its relatively easy to come by such things. I don't think such movies get as much advertising back home in the States. I could recommend a lot of classic movies from both Korea and China (where I'm living now) if you're interested.

I'm afraid I skipped over both of them... but have you seen the Thai movie Ong Bak? There's a lot of good fighting in that one. Check out Young and Dangerous too, which is a HK movie from the mid to late 90s....I got the whole set at my house right now. Young and Dangerous is about four guys who grew up together in one of Hong Kong's most notorious projects...it got so popular that for a short time it was banned by the Mainland government because so many people were joinin' up as a result of watching it. Korean movies, check out Bittersweet and Friend. The Korean "American Pie" is called Sex Is Zero in English and there's a part 1 and part 2. My Wife is a Gangster also got really popular in Asia and I think there are like three parts if I'm not mistaken. Switchin' to Europe, have you ever seen Layer Cake with Daniel Craig or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? It's almost 1 in the morning here, gotta hit the sack for the busy day ahead. I'm very selective with the movie choosing, especially since in China they like to pump up a movie and then when you go see it.....it sucks.... There's a recent HK movie which is pretty good though...the English name is Connected. The funny thing is that if you give me the English names of some of these movies I might not know because I only know them in their original language.....you ever been to Asia? How do you get up on these things because they usually fly over most people's heads in the States...
