A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of rapper Dolla -- we've learned he goes by the name Aubery Berry.

Here's what went down. Sources say after the shooting, the LAPD put out an alert that the suspect may have fled to the Los Angeles International Airport in an attempt to fly out of the city.

LAX police spotted a man who matched the description, sitting in the lobby area of Terminal 1. Cops approached Berry and almost immediately he said he knew why cops were there and then raised his hands and told them he had a 9 millimeter handgun in his waistband.

Berry (we have not confirmed if this is his legal name or an alias) -- a 20-year-old African American male -- was taken into custody.

I am a 38yrs old Black Woman,  I was born and raised in Inglewood California, the only reason I came to this site is because I wanted to find more out about the story, but after reading the comments I had to remark.  I seriously cannot relate to this ghetto ignorance that goes on in the black community these days.  When I was young, we lived in an area with nice houses, big back yards, pools, neighborhood associations,  spent weekends at the beach or the park, spent summers in Mammoth, Big Bear Lake, and Lake arrowhead, had parents who spent time with their kids, and neighbors who cared for each other.  Even though it was Inglewood, it was such a nice beautiful place, no thugs or gangbangers just working families who cared.  But now, I can say at times I am ashamed of my race.  Like Chris Rock said  I love blacks, I can't stand ni$%ers.   Here we have a black president and he can't get the respect he deserves because all you see if the black race killing each other, destroying their neighborhoods, and being ignorant.  What is with you people?  Why is do you not have respect for life and for your fellow man.  Here we are in 2009 and instead of being afraid of the KKK I am afraid of people of my own race.  I was lucky enough to be educated and have parents who instilled values and morals in me so I don't understand this mentality.  I watch the news every night and the first 10-15minutes is nothing but black on black crime.   It's like you people are hell bent on destroying the black race.  Decent black people can't get respect because of this hood mentality that is displayed on a daily basis.  Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are always complaining about the number of black men in jail, but watch the news , they are the ones committing all the crimes.  Whites sit back and laugh because we are just destroying each other so they don't need the KKK, hell these thugs out there act like they are getting paid by them they way they kill each other, and then you take innocent life with you as well.  I left LA because of all that, and here in Atlanta it is the same way.   Wake up black people, when are you going to stop?!!  You people will protest if a cop beats a thug or shoots a killer, but I have yet to see a march in the hoods anywhere in the USA about the black on black violence.  It's like it's ok if we destroy each other but no one else better do anythings.  I pray everyday that God will do something and knock some sense into our race.  What makes some of us this way?

Im 38yo from NYC, and I remember crime in the Black community being as big an issue in the 70's and 80's as today. Please chill out with the delusional 'good old days' history. Nothing going to be solved like that. That time you're talking about was Tookie Williams time, and the riots happened in the 60's. Crime in the 'hood' has been an issue since Blacks got to the cities in the 30's and 40's. Read Native Son or MalcolmX. They're talking about all that back then. Chill out with the fantasy worlds!

To Firestorm:  Yes there was black on black violence but it's worse today.  Also for me that wasn't a fantasy, that is the childhood we had,  I went to private schools, our family took vacations as did all the other people we grew up with,I had an older brother who thanks to good parenting and focusing on an education he is now a successful news writer.  Maybe we were just lucky.  See this is the problem with our race instead of saying yeah there is a problem, you point out that oh this has been happening for years.  It still doesn't make sense or make it right.  Maybe because I had enough sense not to be around that those type of people and had parents who were invovled in my upbringing I care about what is going on with my race.  

So sad...condolences go out to the family of this young man.

Have your people, meet his people...set up an arena, get some boxing gloves and duke it out for money, give half to charity, start a record label and help aspiring artists, make some t shirts and sell food and drinks at the event, sell lots of tickets and make money.

You may or may not shake hands in the end, but you will still be alive and won't have to answer to God while going crazy behind bars in a box like jail cell...you have just made yourself a statistic, you see it every single day, why were do you think you are exempt?
