According to Billboard, MMLP2 is headed to a first week total between 700,000 and 750,000 units. That would give Eminem’s eighth studio album the second highest selling opening week in 2013 behind Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience. JT’s comeback album pushed 968,000 in its initial 7 days back in March.

This will be Em’s sixth consecutive number one solo album. None of those projects sold less than 600,000 copies in its first week. He also reached the top spot as one half of Bad Meets Evil with Royce da 5’9″ when they released the Hell: The Sequel EP.

Three of the top five opening weeks of the year have been from Hip Hop artists. Number three comes from Drake. His Nothing Was The Same sold 658,000 its first week. That is followed by Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail with 528,000 units, and Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories with 339,000 units.
