(AllHipHop News) “Why hasn’t Jay Electronica released his album yet?” has been asked repeatedly over the last few years. The Roc Nation rapper revealed some personal information at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival that may help answer that question.
Speaking with Revolt, Electronica confessed he battled with drugs and alcohol in recent years, but the New Orleans native states he overcame those vices to get back to a good place in his life.
“I’ve gone through my own personal struggles and living my life. I backslid for a while. Got into the drugging, drinking, and smoking, and now I’m back reformed. All praises due to Allah,” said Jay E. “I just wanted to come out today, clean, sober and with my family, and taking control of my life, taking control of the game.”
Electronica received good reviews for his performance at BHHF. His set included appearances by Jay Z, J. Cole, Talib Kweli, and Mac Miller. The successful return to the spotlight may inspire Jay E to finally give the world his Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn) album in the near future.
