Puff Daddy: We Got Barack Obama Elected, Why Hasn’t Our Community Gotten Drastically Better? (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs played a big role in mobilizing young people and members of the Hip Hop community to register to vote with his “Vote Or Die!” campaign in 2004. Four years later, both of those groups helped elect Barack Obama the first African-American President of the United States. Puff Daddy is now looking to Obama for a return on the people of color’s efforts to get him to the White House.

“We got people to vote. We planted the seed that got Obama in office. That’s something I’m very proud of,” Puff Daddy told Ebro In The Morning. “We got Obama into office for the give back. Where are the things in our community that have gotten drastically better?”

The head of Bad Boy Entertainment added people should not stop voting or get disconnected from politics. While Puff admits he does not have the answers to solve some the issues facing Black America, he still wants to see politicians fight to improve the lives of the individuals that got them elected.

“The hugest group of people that get you into office – you have to change their lives for the better. You got to pick a side, because they got you into office,” stated Puff. “If the side so happens to be Black people and you’re Black, you still got to do what’s fair.”

Puff Daddy acknowledged some of the President’s accomplishments may not be fully felt for many years, but he also challenged Obama to send direct aid to Black communities. In addition, Puff suggested African-Americans need to come together to demand political and social changes in the way the National Rifle Association and the Anti-Defamation League influence politicians on behalf of their supporters.
