(AllHipHop News) Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson is set to appear on another Fox show next year. The Emmy and Oscar nominated actress will be part of the upcoming season of The Simpsons.
Entertainment Weekly reports the animated series will air an episode which is being described as a Hip Hop homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. “The Great Phatsby” will focus on a friendship between Mr. Burns and a rap mogul named Jay G.
“Burns is an old-school Gatsby and Jay G is a new-school Gatsby and their mutual Gatsbyism brings them together,” said Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman.
Henson’s Simpson character will be similar to her role as Cookie on Empire. Key & Peele star Keegan-Michael Key has been tapped to play rapper Jazzy James on the episode as well.
The Simpsons has a long history of featuring rappers as guests on the show. Cypress Hill, 50 Cent, Ludacris, and others have appeared on the series.
The Fox network previously broadcasted a Hip Hop themed episode of The Cleveland Show which included animated versions of Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Will.i.am, Questlove, and Bruno Mars.
“The Great Phatsby” is scheduled to air in January 2017.
