(AllHipHop News) HBO is airing the 4-part documentary The Defiant Ones which covers the rise of Andre “Dr. Dre” Young and Jimmy Iovine.
In one section of the program, Dr. Dre and his rap star protegé Eminem discuss the first time the two Hip Hop legends connected to make music.
“I’m looking at Dre like, ‘Dude, I see you on TV all the time. You’re one of my biggest influences ever in life,'” recalled Em.
Dre added, “I’m like, ‘Man, listen. I think this sh-t is f-cking incredible, and I would love to work with you.'”
That initial meeting in the studio led to Eminem creating his first big hit “My Name Is.”
Of course, the Aftermath Entertainment pair went on to work together on multi-platinum albums like The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show.
The Defiant Ones part 4 airs on Wednesday, July 12 at 9 pm ET.
All episodes are available for streaming on HBO GO and HBO NOW.
