T.I. kicked off his son King Harris‘ first Father’s Day with a straight-faced prank involving a made-up tradition that had the first-time father looking completely baffled.
In a video shared to social media, the Hip-Hop veteran greeted King with a warm “Happy Father’s Day” before laying out a bizarre rite of passage. “It’s your first Father’s Day, so I got to tell you about the tradition,” T.I. said. “Your first Father’s Day, you got to go climb the tallest tree and grab the weakest branch.”
King was confused, unsure whether his dad was serious. But T.I. kept going.
“And then you got to get pushed in the pool. But you got to do it before sundown,” he added, barely holding back a grin. “Your son gone’ watch you do it.”
T.I. wasn’t done. He said he planned to rope in another first-time dad — his eldest son, Messiah Harris.
“I’m about to call Messiah ‘cuz he got to come on and do it too,” he added. “It’s y’all first Father’s Day.”
T.I. ended the video, walking away with a smirk, telling King, “I’m going to pick you out a good tree,” before laughing directly into the camera.
T.I., 43, is a father of seven in a blended family with his wife, Tiny Harris. Together, they share three children — King, Major and Heiress. He also has three children from previous relationships — Messiah, Domani, and Deyjah — and helps raise Tiny’s daughter, Zonnique, as a stepfather.
T.I. has three grandchildren and a fourth on the way. Zonnique welcomed her daughter in December 2020. Domani has a daughter, and King recently became a father himself.
Messiah is reportedly expecting his first child this year.
