Nicki Minaj Ends Her Social Media Hiatus

(AllHipHop News) The world had not seen Nicki Minaj on social media since late December. Four months later, the Queens spitter returned to Instagram with two posts promoting a new auto ad.

The IG uploads were in connection with the #TIDALXMercedesBenz campaign. Last September, the streaming platform announced a partnership with the luxury car brand.

Denmark Vessey – “Trustfall” (Produced by Earl Sweatshirt)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm6SOS_wqRE&feature=youtu.be

Denmark Vessey is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming Sun Go Nova EP, which will be released on 4-20-18 via Mello Music Group. Sun Go Nova is comprised of five tracks of eccentric raps strictly produced by Knxwledge and Earl Sweatshirt. Today, the cult rap hero premiered the trippy visual to “Trustfall,” which will elicit uneasiness from the chilliest of viewers with Billboard. “Earl is a gracious friend and I am humbled to have worked with him” Denmark stated to Billboard. “He reached out and exposed me to his fanbase; I’m forever grateful.”

The eerie video opens with someone entering a dark apartment building before pivoting to a ceiling fan running on high, with the screen reading, “Another Rap Video By Denmark Vessey” in various fonts. The narrative then introduces the star of the video, Jeremy, portraying the role of Sweden. The sinister scene switches to the main character sitting down at a desk ghostly staring at an open book with red tape over his mouth.

The visual interestingly integrates scenes from a 20th-century political cartoon that was way ahead of its time. The cartoon plays off the fact that national governments implement various economic and political systems referred to as “isms,” to seize control over and exploit society for the rest of time.”

5 Times Hip-Hop & Videos Games Made Great Music

By Micah Drago

AllHipHop Features) Fortnite is everywhere right now, from memes and the news to the UMBC men’s basketball locker room. Back in February, Fortnite solidified itself as the top game with 3.4 million players online at once.

If you’re old and dusty and wondering what Fortnite is, it’s a popular multi-platform battle royale game. Battle royale games are basically a video game version of The Hunger Games; players start with nothing and have to search for guns to fight to the death. 100 play, but only 1 wins.

So why does all of this matter in the context of Hip-Hop? Last week, Twitch streamer and Fortnite pro Ninja teamed up with Drake for what was the largest stream by an individual streamer in Twitch history, drawing 628k viewers at its peak. Travis Scott and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster even joined in for a few matches.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Hip-Hop and video games come together. The two may not be as intertwined as rap and sports, but you can find video game references and influence all throughout rap.

In honor of this unlikely yet entertaining moment, here are some of the best fusions of Hip-Hop and video games.

5. Beanie Sigel – “Mac Man”

A hardened street vet like Beanie Sigel may be the last person you’d expect to pick up the sticks, but his 2000 song “Mac Man” was a masterclass in video game metaphors. The beat is mostly comprised of Pac-Man eating dots while Beans imagines a world where he and his video game cohorts run the drug game. Donkey Kong, the Mario Brothers, and Frogger all play a hand in the virtual trafficking that makes this one of the best video game–related tracks of all time.

4. Def Jam video games

If you’ve never played the Def Jam video games, stop reading this, buy them off eBay, and dust off your PS2. As gimmicky as these games looked, all but the first actually had really solid fighting mechanics and a fire story mode. Plus, who wouldn’t want to beat the hell out of people with N.O.R.E. or show somebody what happens when you don’t move for Luda?

4. NBA Street Vol. 2

There were so many great things about NBA Street Vol. 2, from the odd cast of characters to the classic commentary. But what I remember most about this game is the soundtrack. As soon as the game is done loading, you’re greeted with Pete Rock and CL Smooth’s “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.).” From there, you get everything from Redman and MC Lyte to Erick Sermon, Nate Dogg and Eve.

As far as video game soundtracks go, that’s a hard lineup to beat.

2. Sonic the Hamilton mixtape

A lot of rappers like video games, but few have dedicated an entire mixtape and persona to it. For Charles Hamilton, Sonic the Hedgehog is more than a video game. Sonic the Hamilton was not only a great mixtape, it was unique; it used samples from the games’ various zones and was absolutely packed with Sonic references.

This is a great tape if you like some nostalgia in your music, and it’s one of the better Charles Hamilton projects.

1. “Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis…”

These words are so iconic that even the whitest of suburban dads could probably finish the bar for you. A Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis might not sound like much to today’s youth, but it was the stuff of dreams at one point in time. And for somebody who came from nothing and became the king of New York, these words symbolized a historic rise.

22 years later, BIG’s “Juicy” is still one of the most popular Hip-Hop songs and the blueprint for anybody on the come-up.

Man Charged With Killing Drumma Boy’s Brother Is On The Run

(AllHipHop News) The FBI is asking for the Public’s help and catching the gunman who killed Drumma Boy older brother.

In February, Ensayne Wayne, born Ferrell Miles, was involved in a shootout inside of Drumma Boy’s The House of Fresh clothing store in Northwest Atlanta.

Police have charged Syranard Eugene Watson with felony capital murder.

Investigators say the men were involved in a confrontation which resulted in both of them drawing weapons.

Ensayne Wayne was struck in the chest and pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.

The FBI has warned the public that Watson should be considered armed and dangerous.

Drumma Boy explained Ensayne Wayne’s importance to his production in a statement issued shortly after his brother was killed.

“He paved the way for me, introduced me to everybody he could, continuously bragged about me and gave me an alternative route to take.”

Take a look at Syranard Eugene Watson:

Tupac’s Stepdad Says U.S. Government Is Illegally Holding Him In Prison

(AllHipHop News) Tupac Shakur’s stepfather Mutulu is trying to get out of prison after 30 years.

Mutulu just filed a lawsuit against the government, claiming his Constitutional First Amendment rights are being used against him, to prevent his release.

“Plaintiff has led a highly productive and exemplary life in prison, influencing his stepson Tupac Shakur’s career as a worldwide renowned hip hop artist with messages of non-violence that reached millions of young people,” Dr. Mutula said in a lawsuit filed earlier this week.

“As established by letters in the record and Plaintiff’s statement at several parole hearings, throughout his incarceration Plaintiff has been outspoken against gang violence and crime.

“He has consistently expressed support for peaceful and constructive changes in all matters involving racial disparities and social justice. He has never in 30 years of incarceration supported or in any way implied support for criminal conduct or violence to achieve social justice,” the lawsuit reads.

In 1987, Dr. Mutulu Shakur was sentenced to 60 years in prison, for his role in robbing a Brinks armored truck of $1.6 million dollars and killing three of the security guards during a heist in 1981.

The robbery was re-enacted during the scene in Tupac’s 2017 biopic “All Eyez on Me.”

https://www.google.com/sorry/index?continue=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N073QpCiEHk&q=EgQi3HnaGLyGg_kFIhkA8aeDS13GZn5fP20000zQq9qaDJtsoB3EMgFy

Mutulu Shakur was also convicted of helping Joanne Chesimard AKA Assata Shakur, escape from a New Jersey prison, where she was serving a life sentence for the murder of a police officer in 1973.

The federal government abolished parole for federal prisoners in 1987, which made Mutulu eligible because he was sentenced prior to the new law.

In April of 2016, Mutulu’s request for freedom was denied over a “single positive drug test,” which happened 27 years before the parole hearing.

The parole board also cited telephone violations, over a phone-in interview Mutulu conducted with students at California State University Northridge.

According to the latest court filing Mutulu, who was once a target of the FBI’s infamous Cointel program, says his First Amendment rights are being trampled upon.

“The commission has failed to adopt or apply any known standards on the meaning of frequent rule violations. A handful of old telephone rule violations over 30 years do not show Plaintiff frequently violated prison rules or is likely to re-offend If released on parole,” said the lawsuit which filed by a handful of lawyers, including Benjamin L. Crump.

Is Chris Brown Out Here Choking Chicks?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Chris Brown levied one of the most famous incidents of domestic violence in the history of domestic violence. You just don’t beat up Rihanna! Chris has paid a price ever since, and some have lobbied for the masses to forgive him. But, the brother may have violated again! I have news for you! Bhris Brown is not out here hurting people! His lawyer spoke: “She’s a friend. It’s obviously playful as she confirmed. Whoever invaded their privacy will be held accountable.” It is a sin and a shame that that man cannot continue to live in peace. He’s not perfect, but now people are calling him names like “Choke Brown,” “Chokestopher” and “human waste.” Let him live until he shouldn’t be allowed like those that murdered Stephon Clark!

Promoter Wants Six Figure Deposit Back From Travis Scott

(AllHipHop News) New dad Travis Scott has been sued for skipping out on a gig on the eve of his baby birth announcement.

The rapper became a dad last month, when his girlfriend Kylie Jenner gave birth to daughter Stormi, and now a promoter claims he bailed on a gig in Minnesota so he could be with the reality TV star.

Scott was reportedly handed a six-figure advance that he has yet to pay back.

According to documents, PJAM LLC officials claim they paid the star $150,000 of a $200,000 fee to perform at Myth Live in Minnesota on February 3, while his agent also allegedly secured a $10,000 booking fee.

The promoter claims Scott refused to show up amid reports suggesting weather conditions were preventing him from getting to the gig.

The rapper did however make it to a show in Las Vegas the same night.

He and Kylie announced the news they had become parents the following day.

PJAM bosses insist they’ve suffered “reputational harm” based on Scott’s failure to perform.

They also allege they paid “significant sums” to advertise the event, lease a venue and “to hire a staff of waiters, bartenders and other assistants for the night.”

Youngboy NBA Ordered To Stay Out Of Clubs And Gets Banned From Social Media

(AllHipHop News) Youngboy Never Broke Again avoided a ten-year prison sentence earlier this week, after a judge ruled an incident in Georgia was not enough to violate the rapper’s probation.

The rapper is currently serving 10 years supervised probation for his role in a drive-by shooting in Baton Rouge in December of 2016.

Youngboy, born Kentrell Gaulden, ran afoul of the law over an altercation with his girlfriend in Georgia, which resulted in a slew of new charges, including being a fugitive from justice in Georgia for alleged assault, weapons violations, and kidnapping.

During a hearing last week, a judge stopped short of sending Youngboy to prison, and put a GPS monitor on the rapper, ordered him to undergo counseling and obtain his GED.

His rap career will also suffer, since he is barred from leaving New Orleans, and can only travel to Atlanta, for his court appearances.

The judge also banned Youngboy NBA from nightclubs and bars, and social media.

XXXtentacion’s Lawyer Downplays Old Assault Footage

(AllHipHop News) Recently-unearthed video footage appearing to show embattled rapper XXXtentacion hitting a woman was filmed “in jest,” according to the star’s lawyer.

The “Look At Me!” hitmaker is already under investigation relating to his 2016 domestic violence arrest, but prosecutors in Florida are now reportedly examining old cell phone footage, which emerged online this week (begs26Mar18), showing XXXTentacion dancing with a woman, before smacking her on the side of her head.

It’s not clear how the video may affect the MC’s ongoing legal issue, as he is also facing felony charges of witness tampering, after allegedly coercing his girlfriend to not testifying against him.

However, XXXTentacion’s attorney, Jaclyn Broudy, has played down the cellphone video controversy, telling TMZ.com the rapper and the woman in the clip are good friends, adding, “The video was taken completely in jest.”

Broudy also questions the suspicious timing of the video’s release, and claims her client is a changed man.

The new drama comes days after XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was granted permission to head out on tour while serving house arrest.

He was handed the punishment and ordered to wear an ankle monitor in December after authorities filed the 15 counts of witness tampering against him.

He will now be able to promote his new album, ?, which landed him his first U.S. number one on Sunday.

Did “Hip-Hop” Diss Craig Mack In Death?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Craig Mack died. We didn’t want to face the fact that Hip-Hop and music had long moved on from the musical founder of the Bad Boy empire. That’s right, Craig Mack’s “Flava In Ya Ear” got it poppin for everybody – even Biggie. But, when it came to the funeral, it seems like that just didn’t matter anymore.

DJ Scratch posted something that has gotten people talking, because he said he was the more “famous” person at Craig Mack’s memorial service in New York City.

https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/?next=/p/Bg4nEXklEZn/

I ain’t the type to tell people how to mourn, pay respects or salute a loved one. But…a guy like Craig Mack, you would think he’d get more attendance.

RIP, CRAIG.

Is Bobby V. Purposely Dodging Police Over Rape Allegations?

By Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) Singer Bobby V. has become an R&B quagmire over the past few years. Last year he gained attention on the web after a transgender woman attempted to expose the singer.

Once again Bobby is making news headlines for a situation with a woman. Only this time it’s for a more troublesome and shocking situation.

Bobby V is being accused of raping a woman in Georgia and charges were filed earlier this month. The singer is currently wanted for the rape, but has yet to turn himself in.

Officially the police report was filed on March 19, a day after the alleged incident. A rep for Bobby has denied the rape and claims the victim is out for money.

According to reports, Bobby V isn’t even attempting to hide from law enforcement since the singer has been spotted working out in Atlanta area gyms.

Hopefully Bobby clears up the situation with law enforcement soon if he is indeed innocent.

Kanye West Splits With Longtime Manager

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West has ended his working relationship with longtime manager Izvor “Izzy” Zivkovic.

According to editors at Billboard.com, the hitmaker has taken the decision to end his working relationship with Zivkovic, a discreet figure in Kanye’s camp who avoided the spotlight.

The Croatian born manager, who was considered to be a close confidant of the multi-hyphenate musician, is believed to have joined the rapper/producer’s team around the time of the release of his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

No details have been given concerning the reason for the split, which comes two years after the rapper added talent powerhouse Scooter Braun, who was primarily responsible for handling the artist’s non-music ventures such as his clothing line and Yeezy shoe, to his management team.

The 36-year-old, who boasts Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande among his clients, is now expected to take on all management responsibilities for Kanye, who is represented by CAA.

Meanwhile, Zivkovic will be kept busy at his Split Second Management company having added Arcade Fire, Banks, Jack Garratt and Kevin Garrett as clients in recent months.

The news comes as Kanye faces the possibility of a legal battle with a Chinese company which scooped up the rights to sell clothing using his Yeezy brand. The rapper lost the trademark to sell Yeezy clothing last year.

He filed documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to reclaim the mark for use selling apparel, but discovered a Chinese firm named Fujian Baby Network Technology Co. swooped in and trademarked the term ‘Yeezy Boost,’ the name of the shoes the hip-hop star designs for Adidas, as a clothing brand – two months before he did.

A letter from Trademark Office officials to bosses at Kanye’s Mascotte Holdings company states that they have suspended his application due to the “likelihood of confusion” with the Yeezy Boost brand.

The rapper launched his first Yeezy clothing collection, in collaboration with Adidas Originals, in 2015, and is currently preparing to debut his seventh season of apparel.
