(AllHipHop News) The ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic is impacting nearly every industry in the country. Over 22 million Americans – approximately 13% of the US workforce – have filed for unemployment benefits in the last four weeks.
The entertainment business has been immeasurably hit by the economic downturn caused by social distancing and self-quarantining to prevent COVID-19 contact. According to Variety, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s Roc Nation is one of the firms that was forced to implement multiple furloughs and 10%-20% pay cuts as a result.
Reportedly, at least half of the company’s staff, mostly lower-level employees, were involved in the financial cutbacks. The record label and management agency made the cost-saving moves as nationwide “stay at home” orders halted music touring and sports events, two of Roc Nation’s key sources of revenue.
The label section of Roc Nation is home to Jay-Z, Rihanna, J. Cole, Jay Electronica, The Lox, Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, Rapsody, Vic Mensa, and others. The management wing includes acts such as Alicia Keys, Benny The Butcher, Big Sean, Fabolous, Lil Uzi Vert, Mariah Carey, Meek Mill, Megan Thee Stallion, Westside Gunn, and Yo Gotti.
Angie Martinez, Cipha Sounds, and Van Jones are also represented by Roc Nation. As far as athletes, the Roc Nation Sports roster consists of CC Sabathia, Dez Bryant, Eric Bailly, Jalen Rose, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kyrie Irving, Mosaad Al-Dossary, Robinson Cano, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Victor Cruz, and more.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak began, Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation has made several donations to various relief efforts. The billionaire Hip Hop mogul joined with musician/entrepreneur Rihanna and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to create a $6 Million coronavirus-relief fund. He also partnered with Meek Mill and the REFORM Alliance to offer 100,000 surgical masks to healthcare workers, inmates, and correctional officers in US prisons.
WE JUST DONATED 100k MASKS TO PEOPLE BEHIND BARS 🙌🏾 that includes 50k to #Rikers, 40k to @TNTDOC1, and 5k to #ParchmanPrison.

(AllHipHop Music) Hailing from New Jersey by way of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Dee Mitch is determined to carve out his own unique niche on the music scene.
Always having a penchant for putting words together, the emcee was able to captivate those around him with his witty sensibilities and infectious melodies.
It was at this point he headed north toward New Jersey where he became enamored with the likes of Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, and Nate Dogg.
Further honing his artistic craft, Dee Mitch later connected with his mentor Tony Walker, who signed the upstart to his World Won Music Group (WWMG) label.
The business / creative connection between the duo has gotten off to the right foot as it spawned Dee Mitch’s first single “Team Us.” Dee’s smooth delivery meshed with the thumping production allows the cut to resonate with a wide range of listeners. This is further evidenced by its success at digital radio, debuting on the DRT Top 150 Independent Airplay chart at #2, DRT’s Top 200 chart at #83 and DRT’s Top 50 Hip Hop chart at #24. Not bad for a first-time effort gaining organic momentum.
As of late, World Won Music Group (WWMG) has shifted gears a bit, opting to release the music video for “Team Us.” Inspired by the critically acclaimed film’Queen & Slim,’ the visual finds Dee Mitch weaving through traffic with his lady by his side, bringing the song to life in motion picture style. Watch the video below and the single is currently available for streaming and download on all top platforms.
(AllHipHop Music) ‘The Awakening’ is the first project from Mount Pleasant, S.C. native, Gotti Da Ghost.
The album is a true story of redemption, and faith as it follows Gotti from the darkest points of his life all the way up to the moment that he finally has his “awakening.”
Tracks like “Open Your Eyes” and “The Nightmare” serve as the album’s backbone, as Gotti speaks on his battles with depression and his desire to want more out of life, while songs like “Mic Check” and “Big Dawg” show why Gotti wants the top spot in the Carolina rap scene, and eventually the world.
Above all, “The Awakening” is a story that everyone can relate to, but first, you have to wake up and realize your dream.
The album boasts features from MGB, SheWillForWill, J Mood, and Cam B, and features production from Rain910, Big Boy, TunkKnockaz, Jerrod Hinton, The RMDY, Cornelius Moore, and 9th Wonder. Over the years, Ghost would master a versatile flow that focused on witty punchlines, complex rhyme schemes and wordplay, along with a unique delivery.
Ever since he was 13 years old, Donovan “Gotti Da Ghost” German knew that he wanted to be a rapper. Even before then, it seemed like it was his destiny to become one.
Inspired by the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Lloyd Banks, Fabolous, and Andre 3000, Ghost’s number one goal was to prove that southern emcees can be just as lyrical as their New York and West Coast counterparts, especially now in a time where being lyrical is a rarity.
Born in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Ghost’s earliest memories of Hip Hop came from his family, whether it was riding to Biggie and Mase in his pop’s pickup truck, or watching music video blocks with his cousins.
Born with a physical condition called cerebral palsy, Ghost used Hip Hop as a way to motivate himself when things got rough.
In middle school, he would start to write poetry and songs in his spare time, and would record them after being encouraged by some friends. Over the years, Ghost would master a versatile flow that focused on witty punchlines, complex rhyme schemes and wordplay, along with a unique delivery.
When it’s all said and done, Ghost just wants to inspire the world with his music, and be known as one of the illest to ever touch a microphone. He has no doubt that he will, considering the pedigree he comes from.

(AllHipHop News) Future is not the only Atlanta rapper in court for baby mama drama.
Offset, one-third of Quality Control’s Migo and the husband of mega rap star and political darling Cardi B, will be putting on a sensible suit to stand before a judge next month regarding child support for one of his many kids.
His child’s mother, Shya L’Amour whose real name is Nicole Algarin, is taking him to the towers of justice to get money for her child.
Her lawyer, Fani T. Willis says that the L’Amour has a challenge paying her bills— especially now with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“She’s like all of us, she’s struggling. She’s an hourly wage worker, she’s got two beautiful little girls…she’s not doing well in terms of resources people need.”
There is no dispute about the child’s paternity. Offset has four children, including his child with Kulture with Cardi B.
Cardi B and Offset started dating in 2017. At that time, Kalea was just about one.
(AllHipHop Rumors) Family, Black Panther 2 is not slated for release until May 6, 2022. That is a real number that was hard for us to process last year when they announced it. Love to Ryan Coolger and all the people that created that billion-dollar masterpiece. But…people are worried about the star of the movie…Chadwick Boseman.
In recent history, Chadwick has been very thin. But a very recent post scared us all!!
Why has Chadwick Boseman been losing weight so much? There have been a few theories.
1) The first theory that seems to be plausible is that the homie is staying thin for a movie role. Some allege that he is working on a movie with Spike Lee about Black Viet Nam vets and he has to stay thin to properly represent those brave souls.
2) He is sick. I was told quite some time ago that he may be sick. As you may have noticed, he has been losing weight for quite some time now. What could this sickness be I don’t know and won’t even speculate.
3) He is just losing weight dramatically. Dude is a vegetarian now and lost a lot of weight, which spans to before Black Panther 1 even came out. “Yeah, we had a couple of diets. It went through some stages. At first, I was eating a lot of meat, and then I felt like it was too much for the amount of energy we needed to extend every day. So my diet became more vegetarian as we went along,” he told Variety in 2018.
(AllHipHop News) British rapper Dappy received a warning from British police after he flouted COVID-19 lockdown rules by going on a fishing trip with a friend near his home.
The former N-Dubz star, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, was spotted by a dog walker next to a lake that is now closed to the public in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire in England last Friday evening.
A Hertfordshire Police spokesperson told the publication that officers were called to the scene and warned the pair of the importance of social distancing while Britain struggles to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
“Police were called at 6.38pm on Friday to reports of two males fishing in a lake in Gobions Wood, Brookmans Park,” the police official said.
“Officers attended the scene straight away and found the two males heading home. Words of advice were given in relation to the importance of social distancing.”
Dappy’s trip was also documented on his friend’s Instagram Stories page while locals expressed their fury with his behavior on Facebook.
According to reports, one member of the organization that runs the lake claimed the “I Need You” hitmaker had sworn at the dog walker when approached about his illicit fishing trip.
(AllHipHop News) Kanye West is the main feature of the upcoming May 2020 issue of GQ magazine, where he proclaims that who he will be voting for in November.
Unshockingly, the polarizing rapper said he is going to voting for Donald Trump, with whom he says he shares “dragon energy” with.
Also, not shocking the 42-year-old has never voted in a presidential election in his life, despite repeatedly stumping for Trump. In the interview, he said he would be running for president in election year 2024. “So look, I’m not telling anybody who they should vote on, what they should wear, where they should live. I’m doing me,” he told the magazine.
We see he still only likes to flaunt and admit to his influence when it benefits him.
Here are some portions of the interview. It should be noted that this portion of the conversation took place earlier this year, way before COVID-19 took hold of the world.
GQ: So this is an election year, and I’m curious how your faith plays into your thoughts on politics. To go back to when you put on the MAGA hat, how do you see that moment from where we are now, sitting on this plane, in January of 2020?
Kanye West: Both my parents were freedom fighters, and they used to drink from fountains they were told they couldn’t drink from, and they used to sit in restaurants where they were told they couldn’t eat from. They didn’t fight for me to be told by white people which white person I can vote on. [laughs]
What do you make of how that moment reverberated? Did it have the effect that you intended?
I didn’t intend for anything except to speak my mind and express how I felt. I have no intention other than to be free, and I don’t intend to be free—I just simply am.
What was at odds to me about you wearing the hat is that “Make America Great Again” is about looking back. Whereas, to me, you are a perpetual forward thinker.
I buy real estate. It’s better now than when Obama was in office. They don’t teach you in school about buying property. They teach you how to become somebody’s property.
For the election ahead, do you plan to speak more about it, or are your interests elsewhere?
No, I’m definitely voting this time. And we know who I’m voting on. And I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over. Because guess what: I’m still here! Jesus Is King was No. 1! I was told my career would end if I wasn’t with her [Hillary Clinton]. What kind of campaign is that, anyway? That’s like if Obama’s campaign was “I’m with Black.” What’s the point of being a celebrity if you can’t have an opinion? Everybody make their own opinion! You know?
(AllHipHop News) Rihanna has dropped another big cash bomb on the coronavirus crisis a week after teaming up with Twitter boss Jack Dorsey to give millions to domestic violence charities battling the health crisis in Los Angeles.
This time, the “Umbrella” singer has joined forces with her mentor Jay-Z and Dorsey again to give $6.2 million to COVID-19 relief efforts.
Rihanna has announced the money will benefit organizations in the United States, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa, like Doctors Without Borders and the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
RiRi’s Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) also donated $5 million to the coronavirus response in the U.S., Caribbean, and Africa, while Jack Dorsey previously donated $1 billion of his money.
Chrishan is far more than just a producer and songwriter, he’s an artist in his own right.
Having done over 200 records alongside Hitmaka, his biggest placements include Meek Mill’s “Dangerous,” A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s “Look Back It,” Drake’s “Jaded,” and French Montana’s “No Stylist.” The dynamic duo has been killing radio over the last couple years, to say the least.
The Toledo-bred, Los Angeles-based creative is CEO of his own company Right Now Sound, which also serves as his producer tag. In addition, he co-founded Makasound with Hitmaka, someone he works on all projects with.
Being nephew to the legendary Lyfe Jennings speaks volumes in itself, and Chrishan’s talents arrive effortlessly. His most recent single “Sin City” went viral online, and later even received a standout remix from Ty Dolla $ign.
AllHipHop caught up with Chrishan at the Kandypens house in Los Angeles to discuss
AllHipHop: How did you meet Hitmaka initially?
Chrishan: We actually met through J Grand over at RCA, he put us together in the same room 3 years ago. We did “Party” by Chris Brown, the first record out of the studio. Ever since then, we’ve been rolling.
AllHipHop: How does it work? Does he do the beat, then you add in?
Chrishan: So we have a team of producers we work with. I produce as well, but he curates everything and puts it all together. He runs with a different concept, then I go in the booth and we write together. I’ll demo the whole record out, then the artist comes in. The artist cuts it, and it goes on the radio.
AllHipHop: Being from Toledo, Ohio, what was that like?
Chrishan: That’s where I’m originally from. My dad had a group with my uncle Lyfe Jennings. My uncle went to jail, the group disbanded. We moved to Minneapolis, so my dad used to do music up there. Watching him, I had a whole platform to do everything musically so I took off from there.
AllHipHop: When did music become real for you?
Chrishan: Honestly, all of my life I knew. He molded me how Joe Jackson did with the Jacksons. I already knew I was supposed to be doing something with music, but I took it in my own hands when I was 17.
AllHipHop: You were mainly a producer and songwriter?
Chrishan: Yes, but I was always doing my own music trying to be an artist. I was an artist first, then a songwriter. Because it was so easy for me to play songs for other people that I took a backseat on my artistry.
AllHipHop: How does it feel to become an artist?
Chrishan: It’s cool because everybody that I’ve worked with, I’ve stayed quiet about the artistry. Sometimes when you’re working with different artists, they don’t want to be in there competing with the person who’s writing their songs. I didn’t really say anything. Now it’s a respect thing to where they’re like “damn, I want to jump on your s##t. Now that I know you have an artist project, you’ve been so cool about everything. I really want to know what you have going on.” It worked in my favor.
AllHipHop: What’s the best part of transitioning from songwriting to artist?
Chrishan: The best part is that I can get my story out there.
AllHipHop: What is your story?
Chrishan: I wouldn’t say the underdog now. Coming from where I come from, a lot of trials and tribulations. Situations that I put myself in: bad relationships, trusting the wrong people. I want my music to be able to express the things I’ve gone through. I have a song called “Bad Idea.” It’s a bad idea when I’m messing with someone who loves somebody else. I know they love someone else and they know I love somebody else, it’s a bad idea.
AllHipHop: You’re not talking about your girl are you?
Chrishan: Nah, I pull everything from past relationships. Past everything.
AllHipHop: How was releasing your single “Sin City” and having millions of streams off audio alone?
Chrishan: It’s nice. It’s definitely a record I had out there, I don’t know how it took off so late. It’s gone viral a couple of times. I want to build on it and give people what I’m doing now, because that song is from years ago. I’m happy that it’s bringing people to me, it’s bringing me to light. I want them to see what I’m really doing.
AllHipHop: What’d it mean to get Ty Dolla $ign on the remix?
Chrishan: I worked with Ty$ on the Drake record, “Jaded.” Ty brought that to me like “yo I have this record Drake sent over, he wanted me to work on it.” If you listen to it now, we added to it. It’s a bunch of backgrounds, etc. But the original version, Ty has a whole verse and it’s crazy. That same day, he said “I heard you got this record called ‘Sin City’ that’s crazy. My fans keep on asking me to get on it.” I’m like “what? You trippin’ bro.”
AllHipHop: Were you guys tight before?
Chrishan: Yeah, but not like that. I don’t realize how cool I am. I’ve been in this game for so long that I’m real passive to a lot of stuff that goes on. Because we’re going to continue doing more, I’ve never wanted to baby anything. When he said that to me, he ‘s like “you’re a cool ass n##ga so I’ma jump on the song for the love.”
AllHipHop: What can we expect from the TyeDye 2 EP?
Chrishan: TyeDye is everything I am, all the emotions bottled up into one. It’s a swirl of colors. You get the good and the bad. I did this mixtape called Night & Day, because you have the records that you want to hear during the daytime, but you also have the records you want to hear during the nighttime. I want people to understand you can be happy and sad at the same time. You can go through all these emotions in the course of the day, and there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s human person, that’s who you are. I want it to be TyeDye.
AllHipHop: Who’s in your Top 5?
Chrishan: I listen to primarily songwriters. James Fauntleroy, he’s all-time for me. Artists that I’ve worked with: Kandi, Ty$, Jeremih. We did that album they had together called Mih-Ty, them two together is something. I like Meek too. He got snubbed from that Grammy, but that’s just me. For real rap, what he came from and overcame, Meek deserved It.
AllHipHop: How does it feel to make it from where you came from?
Chrishan: It’s cool because obviously, I wasn’t the first one to come from my family who made it.
AllHipHop: What’s it like being Lyfe Jennings’ nephew?
Chrishan: We were close in regards to if he came out here for shows, I was always at them. But we’ve never worked together. When you spend so much time trying to become somebody, you have a very close circle of people you associate with. Obviously extended family and different people that you touch every now and then, but that’s not something I want to reach my hand out to. Because we have our differences that are independent from each other.
AllHipHop: What are some goals for yourself as an artist at this point?
Chrishan: To keep on making more music. I want people to love this, I really do. It’s coming out this summer!
(AllHipHop News) The Champagne Papi decided to join the #AllInChallenge to help raise money for the novel coronavirus and its after-effects, but of course, it is just different when he gets involved.
Drake took to Instagram to accept the challenge and the very first thing he did was break some of the tension that trails along anything connected to the respiratory disease. Drake joked that HE was going to give away all of Buccaneers’ quarterback’s assets.
According to Business Insider Brady’s net worth is almost $200 million and combined with his wife’s net worth, the household is sitting on about $540 million in cash, stocks, and assets. This is without their stimulus check!
The #AllInChallenge taps rich people to donate some of their most luxuriously gluttonous toys or experiences to raise money to feed those devastatingly impacted by the novel coronavirus.
Drake then shared what was his auction submission was for the winner of the challenge: a flight in his $200M private jet, Air Drake. He will have some OVO exclusive merch, a Nike care package, get to touch down in the sunny streets of Los Angeles and get put up in a swanky hotel.

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West fans have his pastor’s son to thank for saving the rapper’s career.
The Jesus Walks hitmaker has revealed he seriously considered turning his back on music following his conversion to Christianity after a bout of alcoholism, but a child gave him faith that his rapping could be inspiring.
“I was thinking of not rapping again, because I rapped for the devil so long that I didn’t even know how to rap for God,” he tells GQ magazine. “Then one of my pastors told me, ‘My son just said that he would want a rap album about Jesus from Kanye West’.
“He didn’t say, ‘Kanye West, you should do this’, or, ‘You need to do this’. He just told me something that a child said. And that one thing made the difference.”
Kanye bounced back with the album Jesus Is King last year (19), which helped him conquer the Christian charts.
In the interview, the rapper also addresses his issues with alcohol, revealing he often started his day with a vodka.
“One day I was in my office working on the couture collection, and there was some Grey Goose in the fridge and I was just going to get a daytime drink, and I looked and thought, ‘Devil, you’re not going to beat me today’,” he explains. “That one statement is like a tattoo.
“I haven’t had a drink since I realized I needed to take it day by day, but I never owned up, or was even told, ‘Hey, you’re a functioning alcoholic’. People have called me a crazy person, people have called me everything – but not a functioning alcoholic. And I would be drinking orange juice and Grey Goose in the morning.”

(AllHipHop News) R. Kelly’s lawyers are begging a judge to reconsider her decision last week to keep the singer locked down in jail despite the threat the disease is posing to prisoners.
The 53-year-old “I Believe I Can Fly” singer has been trying to get out of prison, claiming he is at a greater risk of contracting the coronavirus because of his age, and a recent hernia operation.
Last week, Judge Ann M. Donnelly rejected R. Kelly’ request to be released because there were no cases of the coronavirus at MCC.
But things have radically changed since last week’s decision, and MCC has verified there are at least six cases inside of the jail.
The only prisoners who are being tested are those who are showing symptoms, leading many inmates to become paranoid and stressed out over worries of getting the virus due to a lack of ability to social distance.
R. Kelly’s lawyer Michael I. Leonard described the dreadful scene playing out inside of MCC in Chicago in a renewed emergency motion for release.
“The detainee population at the MCC, including but not limited to Mr. Kelly, is experiencing tremendous stress and anxiety in light of the recent
COVID-19 developments. Inmates are reportedly banging on doors, walls, and windows begging for help,” Michael I. Leonard said. “The only thing the MCC has done is lock things down, making conditions feel more like solitary confinement; and possibly, because of the nature of this virus, locking in healthy inmates with those who already have the virus but who may not yet be symptomatic. The virus has now more than “hit home” at the MCC Chicago.”
R. Kelly is asking Judge Ann M. Donnelly to free him immediately so can focus on mounting a defense for his trial, which was supposed to take place in May.
“He would be perhaps the most obvious and recognizable person on the streets of Chicago, or anywhere else in the country, in light of the
severe stay-at-home restrictions that are and will continue to be in place and enforced. There are no flights for him; he is afraid to fly, and he has no passport or other identification to go anywhere,” said Michael I. Leonard.
They allege Rich, real name Dimitri Roger, has repeatedly ignored their requests for payment, and they dropped him as a client in April 2019.
Now they claim he has been dodging calls to show up in court to defend himself against the accusations, and as a result, Blueprint bosses are seeking a win by default, which would require Rich to pay them $1.6 million immediately, according to The Blast.

The Florida singer born Faheem Rasheed Najm recently teamed up with Harlem rapper Sean “Smoke DZA” Pompey. Apple Music’s Beats 1 host Ebro Darden chatted with DZA about his collaboration with T-Pain.
“Working with Pain, a hitmaker himself, I knew I had a shot at making a good ear candy record that’s possibly something that could be big for me,” said the A Closed Mouth Don’t Get Fed album creator.
The 36-year-old emcee continued, “Going into that, making that melodic record with him and really having him actually work with me and respect my artistry and send it back in a reasonable time, I think it’s something different for the Smoke DZA brand.
Darden also spoke to DZA about New York City Hip Hop artists, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Griselda collective, and the creation of his new studio LP. A Closed Mouth Don’t Get Fed alsoincludes features by Westside Gunn, Flipp Dinero, Dave East, Wale, and more.
“I’m a movie guy. And I like Mob movies. While I was recording that, I was watching Goodfellas,” explained Smoke DZA about “Frankie Carbone” featuring Nym Lo. The track is named after the Lucchese Crime Family character from Martin Scorsese’s classic 1990 crime drama.
