(AllHipHop News) Rap star Kendrick Lamar is fielding offers from a number of music publishers, who want to manage his lucrative catalog.

Kendrick, who has moved over 9.5 million units since his debut album Section 8.0, is currently winding down a deal with Warner/Chappell Music.

According to Billboard, the rapper’s contract is about to expire, and he has been offered as much as $30 million dollars for the rights to administer his music.

While the offers have varied, none of them has fallen below $20 million dollars and one publisher is even offering the Compton rapper an $11 million dollar advance.

Representatives for Kendrick’s label Top Dawg Entertainment have yet to comment on the reports.

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Soulja Boy is facing legal action from a Las Vegas chauffeur who has objected to the unauthorized use of his image in a recent music video.

Kamilah Daily filed suit against the “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” hitmaker, real name DeAndre Way, after discovering the hip-hop star had allegedly filmed footage of the driver during a ride in February 2017 and used it in the promo for his track “Bling,” without the driver’s consent.

Daily is seeking unspecified damages for the disruption the video appearance caused to his employment, as well as compensation for the distress and mental anguish he has endured.

He also requested an injunction against the further distribution of the footage.

According to TheBlast.com, Soulja Boy lost a bid to have the case dismissed earlier this month with the judge overseeing the issue siding with Daily and allowing the dispute to move forward.

The MC also appears to be in need of new legal representation, as his lawyers recently asked to be removed from the case, citing a lack of payment so far, and a breakdown in communications with Soulja Boy and his team.

The rapper has yet to publicly comment on his legal troubles.

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rap star Common has linked up with award-winning pianist Robert Glasper and drummer Karriem Riggins to form a brand new group called August Greene.

The trio realized their chemistry was real, after they collected an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, thanks to their song “Letter to the Free” from Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th.

The longtime friends and musical collaborators felt the time was right to release music from August Greene, which has themes of optimism and black excellence. They have found a sound that does not solely fit into one genre but is truly an invigorating hybrid of R&B, hip-hop, and jazz.

The group, which bills itself as a hybrid of R&B, hip-hop, and jazz, released their first single today (January 18) titled “Optimistic” featuring Brandy.

The track is a remake of The Sounds Of Blackness’ 1991 song of the same name.

“August Greene actually formed before we chose a name before we even knew it was a band,” Common explained. “Karriem, Rob and I go back many years. It was something natural. When I started working with them it was like, ‘man, this feels like home,’ and it felt new and fresh. We love working together. The music takes us all to new places and it just feels like, everything I want to be as a musician is within the group of August Greene.” 

August Greene will make their performance debut at Robert Glasper’s sixth annual “GRAMMY Joint” on January 26th at The Highline Ballroom during the 60th Annual Grammy Awards week.

The couple, who is already parents to eldest daughter North, four, and Saint, two, welcomed their third child in the early hours of Monday.

Kim and Kanye have already fielded requests worth up to $5 million for photos of their little girl, claiming that such deals would “violate their morals.”

The couple, who married in 2014, have rejected money from news outlets vying for the first pictures, having resolved to prioritize “the safety and security” of their family.

Their newfound desire for privacy comes in the wake of Kim’s terrifying ordeal at the hand of jewelry thieves in Paris.

The reality star was robbed of $10 million worth of bling at gunpoint in 2016.

Previously, the superstar parents waited two months before posting the first pictures of both North and Saint, and TMZ reported that they plan to release photos of their newborn “on their own timetable.”

Kim, 37, and Kanye, 40, have yet to announce the name of the baby, who was born via a surrogate mother.

The mom of three turned to surrogacy after struggling with life-threatening fertility issues throughout her previous pregnancies, and told her followers that she and rapper Kanye “are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give.”

“Our culture deserves a spotlight for our icons. 10 Rings is special because it’s much more than a doc. You get inside the journey of a superstar,” Kid Art tells AllHipHop.

The next episode of the documentary is likely to feature Harlem native Jim Jones. Previously, Kid Art directed visuals for the Dipset member’s “Bando” and “Gigabyte” songs.

Kid Art’s filmography also consists of Yo Gotti’s “Lifestyle,” Jeezy’s “Bottles Up,” Diddy’s “Facts,” and other music videos. In addition, he was at the helm of the short films Darkest Before Dawn starring Pusha T and The Hated starring Dave East.

(AllHipHop News) Embattled hip-hop mogul Bryan “Birdman” Williams has been ordered to hand over the keys to his Miami, Florida mansion after defaulting on a $12 million loan.

The Cash Money Records boss purchased the luxury estate in 2012 for $14.5 million and took out a loan against the property from officials at EMG Transfer Agent in 2015.

However, Williams is accused of failing to pay back the funds, and last month he was reported to be facing losing the pad to foreclosure as financial executives moved to recover the loan, plus interest and late payment charges.

Now, according to reports, a Miami judge has ruled Williams, who had been trying to sell the home, must immediately surrender all keys and security codes to a court-appointed monitor, who will be allowed to arrange for the place to be rented out to raise funds while the legal dispute rumbles on.

Williams has yet to comment on the court decision or the allegations filed against him in EMG’s lawsuit.

(AllHipHop News) Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has spent years trolling Sean “Diddy” Combs online. For the most part, Diddy ignored 50 Cent’s jabs, but The Four: Battle for Stardom panelist did address his “rival” while on The Breakfast Club.

During his own appearance on the radio show last week, 50 was asked about his constant suggestions that Diddy was gay. The Bad Boy founder finally responded to the G-Unit leader’s comments.

(AllHipHop News) Pop superstar Justin Timberlake is set to be the halftime performer at this year’s Super Bowl. Previously, JT was part of the mid-game extravaganza in 2004.

The Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show is mostly known for Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” which was caused by surprise guest Timberlake pulling off her nipple shield. The former NSYNC member spoke about the infamous moment during an interview with Beats 1 Radio.

“That’s something that we talked about,” revealed JT. “It wasn’t too much of a conversation. It’s just one of those things where it’s like, ‘What do you want me to say? We’re not going to do that again.'”

Nipplegate became a national controversy. While Janet was routinely slammed in the media, many observers believed Timberlake was not publicly criticized nearly as much as his collaborator. He also faced backlash for what was perceived as timid support for Jackson following the negative response.

According to the “Filthy” singer, he and Janet have spoken since the incident. Timberlake stated, “I don’t know if a lot of people know that. I don’t think it’s my job to do that because you value the relationships that you do have with people.”

Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley was recently asked about the players that choose to kneel during the national anthem as a demonstration against racial injustice.

“They’re kneeling for the national anthem to stand up for people,” Grizzley told XXL. “They’re standing up so people could be treated better.”

The “First Day Out” rhymer continued, “Y’all got all this money. Y’all want people to be living better, go to the people that y’all feel like are treated bad and do something for them. At the end of the day, you’re there to play football. Play football.”

Colin Kaepernick ignited those NFL protests before he was unable to get signed by a franchise. It should be noted the former quarterback is donating over $1 million to over forty charities and nonprofit organizations.
