Russell Simmons Says He’s Being Extorted; Denies New Rape Claims

(AllHipHop News) Russell Simmons is “vehemently” denying new rape allegations against him.

Two new accusers filed criminal complaints against the hip-hop mogul with the New York Police Department last month, alleging he raped them in 1983 and 1991, respectively.

One of the accusers, Sherri Hines went public with her claims on TV in America last month.

She told cops Simmons raped her at his office in 1983.

The second woman, who has not been identified, claims Simmons raped her at his Manhattan home following a date in 1991.

New York Police Department officials are currently “in the process of reviewing” the allegations, but Simmons is now insisting they are not true.

“I vehemently deny all these allegations,” a statement issued by his representative reads. “These horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual.”

“The current allegations range from the patently untrue to the frivolous and hurtful,” he adds. “The presumption of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ must not be replaced by ‘Guilty by Accusation’.”

Simmons is also claiming he has been the target of extortion attempts.

“One woman attempted to extort me for $500,000 only to recant her ridiculous claim,” his statement adds. “In recent weeks, some former business, creative and romantic partners have aired grievances as claims I categorically reject. In some of these instances, financial motives and direct contradictory witness testimony has been supplied to the media, which has been completely left out of stories.”

Simmons is currently facing sexual misconduct and/or rape accusations from 14 women.

In November, he stepped down from his companies after former model Keri Claussen Khalighi and screenwriter Jenny Lumet accused him of sexual assault.

In December, he was hit with more accusations of sexual misconduct, rape, and assault from a group of other women in exposes published in the New York Times and Los Angeles Times.

The NYPD is reportedly investigating Simmons for at least seven claims of sexual misconduct.

‘Black Panther’ Breaks 1-Day Pre-Sale Ticket Record For Marvel Movies

https://youtu.be/PJBmeqpw3DY

(AllHipHop News) If early ticket sales are any indication, Black Panther is on pace to be a huge blockbuster. Deadline reports the Ryan Coogler-directed comic book movie is now Fandango’s best-selling Marvel Cinematic Universe entry for the first 24 hours of pre-sales.

Black Panther surpassed 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. That MCU title went on to earn over $179 million at the box office in its first weekend.

Deadline points out that industry estimates suggest Black Panther is likely to bring in $80 million to $85 million in its opening weekend with a possible shot at crossing the $100 million mark. The movie is hitting theaters on February 16, a date that falls in the middle of Valentine’s Day (2/14) and President’s Day (2/19) which could give the star-studded motion picture a boost.

The Black Panther cast features Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Andy Serkis, Letitia Wright, and Martin Freeman. Award-winning emcee Kendrick Lamar and TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith are producing and curating the movie’s musical companion piece Black Panther: The Album.

“It was initially my idea, but hats off to the Disney marketing team and the music team here for being completely open to it,” expressed Coogler to Fandango about the forthcoming LP. “I think that I was fortunate that I had a relationship with Top and Kendrick before signing on to do this film, but it was working with doing something that I really thought would be right for this project, specifically, and also happy that Disney was open to it and Marvel was open to it and seemed supportive of the idea.”

He added, “I can’t wait for the world to hear some of the art that they’ve been working on. I think that folks will be really excited to hear that stuff, man.”

Kendrick Lamar and TDE singer-songwriter SZA collaborated for the project’s lead single “All The Stars.” Another record with Lamar and Vince Staples appeared in a Black Panther trailer that premiered during Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship game.

K. Michelle On The Kardashians: “They Can Be Black, I Can’t Be Black”

https://youtu.be/RLJqzG0kQ6o

(AllHipHop News) K. Michelle has a song on her Kimberly: The People I Used to Know album titled “Kim K,” an obvious reference to reality show star Kim Kardashian. While speaking with Revolt, the R&B singer provided more commentary about the Kardashian /Jenner family’s connection to perceived cultural appropriation.

“They can be black. I can’t be black. I thought I woke up as the black woman, but I have to go to sleep as a Caucasian in order to make some money nowadays,” said K. Michelle. “Kim K and all them can take our culture – from our cornrows… you can throw cornrows to the back and put your face on top of Biggie and Pac. You can do that. If I did it, what would they do?”

She added, “They get away with being black. ‘Cornrows, it’s edgy, it’s new.’ B-tch, we been wearing cornrows when our mommas didn’t want to comb our hair. What’s next? Barrettes? Big lips? Big ass? That’s been us. African-American women are the culture.”

Joe Budden Slams Bizarre For Allegedly Ordering Backpage Prostitutes

(AllHipHop News) The Joe Budden versus Bizarre saga seemed it would be nothing more than a one day story, but Budden continued the feud by posting a new message on social media about the D12 member. Yesterday, he made claims about Bizarre’s alleged solicitation of female sex workers.

“Bizarre always ordered the worst back page prostitutes on tour, can’t take nothing he say seriously, they were gross,” wrote Budden in a since-deleted tweet.

The back-and-forth began when Bizarre blasted Budden over his critiques about Eminem, which Bizarre viewed as Joe being disloyal to his Shady Records label head. On his weekly podcast, Budden said he hasn’t heard Em’s new Revival album so he wasn’t even able to give his opinion on the LP.

However, Eminem’s verse on “Chloraseptic (Remix)” called out critics that gave negative reviews of the Revival tracklist before hearing the music. Budden was involved in a discussion about that tracklist on Everyday Struggle. He also put Slim Shady on his “trash” list of 2017 because of a “really bad album rollout” and for the single “Untouchable.”

Budden addressed his newfound beef on the “How Bizarre” episode of The Joe Budden Podcast. Biz responded to the show on Instagram by stating “f-ck it green light.”

The Detroit native wrote on IG:

Everybody go tuned into [Joe Budden] podcast called how Bizarre. This man Literally talks about me for 2 hrs straight …. talking d12 is wash up and I have not spoke to marshall in 15 yrs old .. wow that’s a long time … and I said I was going to be quite and not mention this clown no more … f### it green light …. ..👿👿..👿

Additionally, Bizarre used a live broadcast to call out Budden for not responding to 50 Cent saying the “retired” emcee has an “ass whopping coming.” 50 was also slamming Joe Budden in defense of his mentor Eminem.

Cardi B Addresses Why She Claps Back At “Haters” On Social Media

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YiQ0-SBbT0

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B is just as well known for responding to slights on social media as she is for breaking Billboard chart records. Apparently, Belcalis will have more words for the haters on her debut album.

“I’m always gonna talk about them because I hate them. I hate y’all. I wish y’all catch something,” the Bronx-raised rapper told Beats 1 Radio when asked about the topics on her forthcoming project.

Some observers question Cardi’s tendency to respond to online detractors. She explained the reasoning for her digital clapbacks.

“A lot of these celebrities do search their name on Twitter. A lot of them do see their comments. All of them. They really do,” Cardi B stated. “I feel like they don’t respond because it’s like the ‘celebrity’ thing to do, like you’re too cool.”

She continued, “I’m not too f-cking cool to tell your motherf-cking ass something. How is your f-cking square ass gonna talk sh-t about me? If you know me, if you know my struggle… This is not easy. My career was not given to me.”

The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker went on to talk about the “crazy rumors” she hears about herself. Cardi also admitted mean comments about her looks are bothersome.

“Women don’t ever want to feel ugly,” said Cardi.

Taraji P. Henson Understands Stunt Risks After “Proud Mary” Shoot

(AllHipHop News) Actress Taraji P. Henson has a new understanding of how fatal accidents can occur while filming complicated stunts after pulling double duty on new movie “Proud Mary.”

The “Empire” star portrays the titular hitwoman in the action thriller, which she also executive produced, and the long hours on set made her realize the importance of safety procedures when shooting daring sequences towards the end of the day.

“I don’t think people really realize how much work goes into an action film,” Taraji explained on U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America. “It’s so physical, and we often hear tales of people dying, and I’ll tell you why: because you’re in the 13th hour, you’ve been working all day, and you get to the end of the day and you still have this hugely dangerous stunt to pull off, and people are tired! And sometimes if fatigue sets in or you miscount a step, it can go really bad.”

Her comments come months after two stuntworkers were killed last summer – John Bernecker died from his injuries following a balcony fall on the set of “The Walking Dead” in Atlanta, Georgia in July, and Joi Harris lost her life in a motorcycle crash on the set of the “Deadpool” sequel in Vancouver, Canada just weeks later.

Meanwhile, Taraji has blamed her own exhaustion for suffering a minor mishap on the set of “Proud Mary” back in May, when she crashed a Maserati sports car into a fire hydrant while filming in Massachusetts.

Reports at the time suggested the collision had caused $12,000 worth of damage to the pricey vehicle, and the actress, who was not hurt in the incident, admits the cost was the first thing that came to her mind when the accident happened.

She recalled, “Man, let me tell you – if I was just the actress, I would’ve been like, ‘Oh, was that me?’ (But as an executive producer), I was just like, ‘How much is this gonna cost us?’ I benched myself! I was like (scolding myself), ‘Go to your trailer!'”

Despite the motor mistake, Taraji insisted she had so much fun fronting the new movie, likening her tough character to the female protagonist in the “Tomb Raider” video game and film franchise.

“I just felt like a black Lara Croft, that’s what I kept saying!” she smiled. “I had the ponytail and the combat boots, it was that (part) when she really goes to war, she has… a navy blue motorcycle jacket and these motorcycle pants, and I just felt like, ‘Dang, I could really hurt someone just with my outfit!'”
