We lost a legendary contributor to Hip-Hop culture towards the end of last year and as such, we must continue to honor the legacy of Reggie “Combat Jack” Ossé. Check it below out as The Cipher Show honors the legacy of Combat Jack. Above you can hear the replay of Episode 1 as Combat Jack is honored posthumously.

Here is what The Cipher Show had to say about the tribute:

“Reggie “Combat Jack” Ossé was a lawyer, a blogger, a music executive, a father, and much more. But most people will remember him as a podcasting legend. The host of the eponymous Combat Jack Show raised the bar throughout his time as a media figure, becoming the most influential hip-hop podcaster and even the co-creator of an entire podcast network.

Ossé died on December 20, 2017. To celebrate his life, this is a revamped version of an interview we first did with him that aired in early 2013. It also includes tributes to Combat from some of the people who worked closely with him over the years.”

Nas And Kelis Reach Custody Agreement

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Nas and his ex-wife singer Kelis have come to a custody agreement after a lengthy battle over the care of their eight-year-old son Knight.

The two have divided up visitation rights and now Nas is able to spend time with Knight on weekends, according to documents.

The former couple has also agreed to avoid exploiting the child on social media.

In November, the “One Mic” star, full name Nasir Jones, filed court papers claiming Kelis was only allowing him visitation with Knight “when she deems it convenient for her,” even though he had done his best to co-operate with his ex-following their separation in April 2009, when she was seven months pregnant.

The rap star asked for an official custody schedule to be put in place, and suggested Knight spends the first, third, and fifth weekend of every month with him.

Last December, Kelis filed a request for a court hearing.

Nas and Kelis, who wed in 2005, finalized their divorce in 2010.

The rapper is also dad to 23-year-old daughter Destiny from his relationship with ex-girlfriend Carmen Bryan, while Kelis welcomed another son in 2015.

She has never publicly revealed the identity of the boy’s father.

Nas dated Nicki Minaj for seven months before the pair split last week.

Jimmy Iovine Shoots Down Reports He’s Leaving Apple Music

(AllHipHop News) Music mogul Jimmy Iovine is denying reports he is leaving Apple music.

Earlier in the week, news broke that Jimmy would be leaving the company around August, after his stock options vest later this year.

The Interscope Records founder, who has been with the company since 2014, has responded to the claims during an interview at the Grammy Museum earlier this week during a screening of the HBO series “The Defiant Ones.”

“All this stuff you’re seeing in the newspapers, let me tell you, my stock vested a long time ago. We need Donald Trump here to call it ‘fake news’,” Jimmy Iovine told the crowd.

Although Iovine claims he isn’t leaving Apple anytime soon, the mogul, who turns 65 in March, admitted he would probably be out of the business within the next 10 years.

“I don’t see myself at 75-years-old running around doing music. Eventually, I’ll be slowing down. But right now, I’m committed to getting streaming right,” Jimmy Iovine said.

Jimmy Iovine took over Apple Music four years ago, after he sold Beats to the company with Dr. Dre, for over $2 billion dollars.

Recently, at a presentation for Monster Electronics, Iggy Azalea announced that she will have a new song which will feature Migos frontman, Quavo.

Monster recently signed on Iggy for endorsement, which has been rumored to rub MANY people the wrong way.

Allegedly, Cardi was also pushed for the same position, along with another black woman, but only Iggy was signed on.

One would wonder why Cardi, who is clearly the bigger star, would be passed over for such an opportunity.

Inside sources claim that the company allegedly felt like Cardi didn’t fit the brand, but apparently Iggy’s “Murder Game” did.

But, nevertheless, maybe Iggy can finally gain some traction with a Quavo feature. Look for her song to possibly be apart of a Super Bowl commercial for Monster.

Rapper Kevin Gates Released From Prison, Hits Social Media

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Kevin Gates is a free man.

Gates was released from an Illinois prison today (January 10) after serving 9 months over a gun charge.

The rapper, born Kevin Gilyard, was ordered to serve 30 months in prison for felony gun possession back in April, just after he completed five months of a six-month sentence in Florida, for kicking a woman in the face at one of his shows.

Authorities in Florida Kevin Gates had an outstanding weapons-related warrant out for his arrest as he was preparing to be released, with the order dating back to a missed court appearance for a 2013 gun case in Illinois.

Now that all of that is behind him, Kevin Gates said he planned on speaking to young at-risk teens, in hopes of keeping them out of prison.

Today, Kevin Gates, 31, returned to Instagram, with a cryptic message, and he received well wishes from a variety of rappers including Gucci Mane, Famous Dex and Lil Baby.

(AllHipHop News) Rap newcomers Cardi B and 21 Savage have been tipped for continued success after landing on Forbes magazine’s Hip-Hop Future Moguls of 2018 list.

The poll, formerly called Hip-Hop Cash Princes, highlights the stars on the way to raking in the big bucks and joining the ranks of multi-millionaires like Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, on the publication’s annual Highest-Paid Hip-Hop Acts countdown.

In addition to “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker Cardi, rapper/singer Lizzo, and producer Wondagurl also give the Class of 2018 the feminine touch, which is partly why the panel of judges decided to rename the list.

Meanwhile, Post Malone, Playboi Carti, and Lil Pump are also featured, alongside Dave East and Tyler, The Creator.

Eligible participants have to be under 30 years of age, and cannot have featured on the list in previous years in any capacity.

Joe Budden has been making waves since starting his podcast and being a host of Everyday Struggle. The two shows led to Joe allegedly securing a deal with Revolt TV.

His opinions are honest, but their honestly ruffling feathers due to his honest critics. Musicians and artists are becoming frustrated with his opinions and taking offense.

This led to issues between him and Quality Control after he critiqued Lil Yachty. That later led to issues with the group Migos after they had a small disagreement on the BET Awards red carpet after an interview with the Everyday Struggle cast. Which further led to Migos dissing Joe by releasing their “Ice Tray” single featuring Lil Yachty.

As a member of the group Slaughterhouse it was expected that Joe would have good things to say about Eminem due to the group being signed to Em’s Shady Records imprint.

To everyone’s surprise Joe Budden did the opposite and offered a different opinion critiquing the album.

This led to this week’s social media engagement between Bizarre of D-12 and Budden then later 50 Cent offering his opinion on the matter.

Yesterday, Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg took to radio to offer his opinion on the matter.

In a discussion with Ebro and Laura Styles, Rosenberg expressed his confusion after being asked by Laura.

“He probably didn’t need to go that honest. You know what I’m saying. He’s part of the team. Slaughterhouse is part of Shady.,” said Peter Rosenberg. He continued, “I totally get it. I understand why at our job working at an independent radio station. We have no business with Eminem. Why we have to. Even if it’s hard sometimes cuz we love the guy to say “hey that’s not our favorite thing.” But in the case of Joe doing Everyday Struggle. It’s an entertainment show on Complex.”

Joe Budden’s insider opinions on Hip Hop have been both loved and hated. However, his opinions are respected. Which is why Hip Hop musicians have taken his voice seriously.

(AllHipHop Rumors) Drake is slowly becoming Hip Hop’s International Man of Mystery. This has been a headline blazing week for the self proclaimed “Champagne Papi.”

It all began on Sunday night at a Golden Globes after party where he is rumored to have rekindled his past romance with Zoe Kravitz. While the rumor may be speculation. It might have some substance to him as Drake always went viral twice to begin the week.

The first viral video features Drake apparently curving actress/comedian Bresha Webb as she reached for his hand in an attempt for a dance. In the clip Drake can be seen declining the offer at the Golden Globes after party. To Drake’s defense, he was DJing at the time.

The second viral footage shows Drake ecstatic after placing a wager on the Alabama/Georgia football game.

Monday night saw Alabama win a thrilling College Football Playoff game. The game against fellow SEC opponent Georgia was for the National Championship.

Georgia led for most of the game until Alabama rallied in the second half. The second half rally eventually led to Alabama winning the game in overtime with an dazzling touchdown pass.

Drake, always the passionate sports fan, took to social media after the game to express himself. Drake took shots at Migos rapper Quavo in the Instagram clip. Alluding to a bet that the two made before the game started.

“Quavo, I need my chips with the Huncho Jack dip, my boy!,” said Drake while taunting Quavo and referencing the Travis Scott/Quavo joint release.

Fellow Georgian 2 Chainz was also in the room with Drake watching the game and looked disappointed with the finish. Drake would also name Alabama coach Nick Saban “Best Coach of All Time” as he spoke with Quavo on a call and continued to taunt him.

“I’ll come pick you up from the airport… yeah, dat way!,” said Drake. Mr. Graham is a funny man at times and Monday he was thrilled to get the last laugh.

Drake is a proud sports fan. He currently holds a position with the Toronto Raptors as their NBA Global Ambassador.

Tuesday he also took to Instagram to showcase his vintage LeBron James high school basketball jersey.
