Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against Jay Z & Dame Dash Over Roc-A-Fella Records Logo

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z and Dame Dash found out some good news this week.

A Manhattan federal judge has dismissed a $7 million lawsuit filed in 2012 against the Hip Hop moguls.

Clothing designer Dwayne Walker sued Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, Damon “Dame” Dash, Kareem “Biggs” Burke, Roc-A-Fella Records, and Universal Music Group for breach of contract and copyright infringement.

Walker claimed he created the famous logo for Roc-A-Fella, the record label co-founded by Jay, Dame, and Biggs in 1995.

The defendants said the image was actually designed by Roc-A-Fella art director Adrien Vargas .

U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter in Manhattan ruled that Walker was not entitled to any royalties.

Judge Carter’s decision stated there was not enough clear evidence an alleged contract between the two parties ever existed.

“This leaves only plaintiff’s own self-serving testimony that he drafted the contract, that he and Dash signed it, and that he lost track of it in 1998,” wrote Judge Carter. “This testimony alone is not enough.”

Walker asserted he designed the Roc-A-Fella logo in 1995 and license it to Jay, Dash, and Biggs in return for $3,500 and 2% of revenues for ten years after the first year of use.

His lawsuit was based on the argument he never received the 2% royalties and still owns the copyright to the logo.

Judge Carter also dictated Walker should not have waited five years to sue after supposedly finding out he was owed royalties.

Walker plans to appeal the court’s decision.

Lil Wayne has been ordered to give producer David Banner $164,00 over allegations the rapper failed to pay him for work. Banner sued the hip hop star’s Young Money Records label in July last year (15), claiming Wayne owed him money for work on three tracks, “La La” and “P##sy Monster” for Wayne’s 2008 album Tha Carter III, as well as the song “Streets Is Watching,” from a 2009 Young Money compilation album. According to court documents obtained by TMZ.com, a judge entered a default judgment in the producer’s favor after staff at the record company failed to respond to the case. The judge has ordered record label executives to pay Banner the $154,000 he initially claimed plus interest, making a total of $164,303.

Ty Dolla $ign Weighs In On Meek Mill & The Game’s Internet Beef

Meek Mill has given Hip Hop fans two pretty entertaining rap beefs.

Celebrities and fans alike have been torn between both sides as far as Meek & Drake and Meek & The Game.

While many have decided to stay relatively quiet or neutral, people like Russell Simmons and Ty Dolla $ign have decided to speak out.

Many would like to see the two fight it out, and the sensible want to see peace between all parties.

As far as Ty Dolla $ign is concerned, no matter what happens, he believes they need to keep the beef off of the internet.

According to Ty Dolla, the two rappers should be able to speak to each other like men, and stop with the social media petty behavior and memes.

Ty told XXL,

“I think we all gangsters and we ain’t supposed to be on the internet with our sh*t. N*gg*s should have learned that a long a*s time ago. I feel like when it’s real sh*t, if it’s beef or whatever the f*ck they want to call it, n*gg*s should speak like men together. Everybody’s watching on the internet so why would you want to talk sh*t on the internet? I don’t do that with girls or anybody. Let’s just keep it adult.”

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with Ty? Have there been a lot of senseless beefs over the years and recently?

According to Rolling Stone, Vic believes in voting as a great catalyst for change at both the local and national level.

“All my earliest memories with police officers are like, ‘Hey, get your fu##ing hands out that hoodie before I punch you in the fu##ing face!'” Mensa recalled. “‘What the f##k did I do? What’d I do? What law did I break?’ You live with that enough and there’s not really any turning back.”

In the five minute video the artist also reflects on being snatched up by police at a local protest of 17-year old Laquan McDonald’s death at the hands of police in 2014.

“We hadn’t broken any laws. We were just organizing on the street, as is our right as Americans,” the rapper stated.

Vic’s strong remarks follow the September 16 shooting death of unarmed Tulsa,OK black man Terrence Crutcher by law enforcement.

Did Mary J. Blige Top Her Fried Chicken Jingle With This Song For Hillary Clinton?

Now there is no denying that the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, has hits on hits, but many have argued over the years that she isn’t the greatest singer.

She’s won because of the soul in her music and the fact that her music explores the themes of love and pain that everyone can relate to.

Well, she just sung to Hillary Clinton about social injustice and police brutality and for most, it was a painful experience.

We adore Mary and her hits, but this was rough.

She may have just topped her legendary fried chicken jingle. The context is there, but eh… We’ll let you be the judge. What are your thoughts?

Although refunds were given, all has not been forgiven.

Maybe Fetty was with his newly emerged mystery child. A picture of Fetty Wap with a rumored mystery son of his has been floating around from this weekend.

Meek Mill’s Boy Confirms Beanie Sigel Got Touched By Dreamchasers Over Ghostwriting Talk

What the hell is going on? Cats put hands on Beans? They really did? It was one thing for The Game to say it, but now, Dreamchasers are going on record admitting to it. That’s no bueno. Now The Game really won the beef, since Philly is all fractured. A dude name Teefy decides to talk about this in an interview. He denies that Beanie did any writing for Omelly, only that he made suggestions. He also said nobody wanted him to jump on it, but he jumped on regardless. He said stuff was all cool until…Beans did that interview. “I think he passed out from the diabetic medication,” Teefy said. He accused Beans of going back to The Game and talking on some double agent-ish! They deny that The Game was out there in Philly and that, if he was, he would have got his head knocked out.

UGH! Look below…just a few days, they were cool…in the studio.

Man Who Beat Up Beanie Sigel Explains Newly Released Footage Of Rapper Knocked Out

(AllHipHop New) Game was not lying when he went to Instagram a few days ago to reveal that Philadelphia rapper Beanie Sigel was knocked unconscious backstage during the Bad Boy Reunion concert.

Footage has hit the net of Beanie stretched out backstage before his performance on Friday (September 23) at the Wells Fargo Center, where Diddy and the rest of Bad Boy family was performing as part of the brand’s 20th anniversary tour.

Apparently, Meek and his crew were upset at Beanie Sigel for claiming he wrote parts of Omelly’s verse on Meek’s “OOOUUU” remix/diss record to Game.

An affiliate of Meek’s named Teefy Bey, who is the CEO of a local label Do4Self Records, did an interview with HipHopSince1987 and discussed the knockout punch delivered to Beanie.

“I think he passed out from his diabetic medication,” Teefy said as his crew chuckled. “Everybody know what it is…he told Game information only the camp know. And not the information that you wrote something, cause you didn’t. The information was more worse than that, and then some other s##t came into play, that I don’t want to talk about. But at the end of the day…you aint gonna try to play me or my family or play my ni##as out for that ni##a named Game. You broke the code of ethics on the street, Beans. ”

Teefy also denied Beanie wrote Omelly’s verse, but only helped with some adlibs.

“Mack never wrote nothing for nobody going at the Game, cause he’s a sucker. The whole world know. Nobody asked Mac to get on the track. He aint write nothing,” Teefy Bey said.

Teefy also laughed at the nothing Game appeared at Max’s Steaks, saying the Compton rapper never “stepped foot in the area.”

“If you was there [Game] you would have got your head knocked off,” said one of Teefy’s associates during the interview.

T.I.’s Step-Daughter Sentenced In Airport Gun Case

(AllHipHop News) Rapper T.I.’s stepdaughter Zonnique Pullins has been sentenced to community service in her gun possession case.

The 20-year-old was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia in June for allegedly attempting to carry a gun through airport security.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents reportedly saw a .380-calibre Ruger semi-automatic pistol with a clip and five rounds while scanning her bag through an X-Ray machine.

Pullins has never been in trouble with the law and a judge has taken that into consideration and sentenced her to 60 hours of community service.

According to TMZ.com, she also has to pay a $500 fine and take a gun law training class.

Pullins has 90 days to complete the judge’s orders and if she does the charge will be dropped.

Zonnique previously spoke out about the incident, insisting it was just a mistake because she forgot the gun was in the bottom of her bag when she packed for her flight.

“I know that’s really irresponsible on my part, but it was really just an honest mistake,” she told People.com. “I was at home, rushing to get to the airport, and I was throwing everything in my purse. The gun is really, really small. It looks like a toy gun. It was just at the bottom of my purse. When I went through security check, I was like, ‘Oh, I forgot it was in there’.”

She said her mother, T.I.’s wife Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle, bought the gun for her for protection, adding, “I’m not usually with anybody or security or anything, so I always feel like I have to keep myself safe.”

Her mom added: “I just want her to be safe and feel safe at home by herself because if someone comes in or if something happens, she’s all alone, then what is she going to do?”

T.I., real name Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., shares three biological children with Tiny and she is stepmother to three of his kids from previous relationships.

Drag-On Jumps In The Beef, Disses The Game With Response Track!

Former Ruff Ryders artist, Drag-On was not too happy about the way his name was dropped in The Game’s “92 Bars” diss track aimed at Meek Mill. The Game rapped,

“I’m the old DMX, you n*ggas Drag-On.”

The New York rapper didn’t take too kindly to the slight diss. Drag-On decided to record a response titled “It’s Game Time” over The Game’s “Higher” instrumental. It seems like folks on both sides are fed up with The Game and Meek Mill.

What do you think of Drag-On’s response?
