Does this rap resurgence mean Jay is ready to return with a new body of work? Jermaine Dupri discussed his relationship with the Roc Nation head in an interview with Rap Radar.
“Me and Jay have conversations that I’m sure he probably don’t have with nobody else,” said Dupri. The So So Def founder later revealed Jay’s follow-up to 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail is close to being complete.
“I know the name of Hov’s new album,” added Dupri. “It might be done.”
Watch a snippet of Jermaine Dupri’s interview below.
Joe Budden certainly has no chill, a whole lot of time, and a serious petty itch! Budden stopped by The Brilliant Idiots podcast and told Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz why he started his diss attack on Drake.
He also said that he has 20 more diss tracks for the 6 God.
Budden feels like Drake has been really bothered because other people felt the same way he felt about Drakes “less-than-inspiring” ‘Views’ album.
Joe says Drake knows his pen game, and he doesn’t care anything about his fame, celebrity, as well as his successful run, as Drake used all of it to get at Joe.
Joe isn’t upset that Drake replied; he just feels some kind of way because he says Drake was a fan of him, and he says there aren’t too many emcees, Drake included, that can go toe-to-toe with him lyrically.
Even with Joe’s vault of 20 disses for Drake, it seems like no one really cares about this forced beef. It’s all good and fun when rappers can keep their beef on wax, but for some reason most are yawning at this one.
T.I. decided to speak out and give his take on the recent events of these past weeks, stopping by Hot 97 to chop it up with ‘Ebro In The Morning‘ for a lengthy discussion. The Atlanta rapper spoke on a variety of topics such as #BlackLivesMatter, police brutality, the problems facing our country and more.
A$AP Mob made an appearance during last night’s episode of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” performing their Yams-tribute single titled “Yamborghini High.” The Harlem bred crew is gearing up their upcoming compilation project “Cozy Tapes Vol. 1.”
Trap God Gucci Mane has to stay far away from all trap houses following his recent release from federal prison, after he served time for gun charges. Bossip has obtained Gucci’s parole documents, and Mr. Radric Davis must stay clear of all trap houses for three years as part of the agreement of his supervised release.
The document states,
“The defendant shall not frequent places where controlled substances are illegally sold, used distributed or administered.”
Although many of Gucci’s past musical releases have been based on trappin’, this actually may not be an issue for him, as it seems that his fiancee Keyshia Ka’oir has helped him to completely turn his life around.
The terms of Gucci’s parole specify that he will have to be tested for drugs randomly, undergo mental health counseling, attend drug and alcohol rehab, and he can’t possess any drugs. Don’t slip up Gucci! Don’t do it!!!
(AllHipHop News) The man who has accused Afrika Bambaataa of molesting him as a teenager is calling for an immediate ban KRS-One, whom he labeled “worse than a Catholic priest.”
“He [KRS-One] is a disgrace to every living man, woman and children all over the world. He poses a real threat to every child in this world,” Ronald ‘Bee-Stinger” Savage told AllHipHop.com.
“He is worse than any catholic priest who has molested a child,” Savage continued. “Any DJ, radio station or video show still playing his music SHAME ON YOU.”
The former New York politician has accused Zulu Nation founder Afrika Bambaataa of molesting him as a teenager.
And now he’s speaking out against recent statements made by rapper KRS-One.
Bambaataa and several top leaders were eventually removed from The Zulu Nation for their response to the crisis, but not before several notable Hip-Hop artists and activists weighed in on the matter.
“To turn around and say that an alleged child molester, because it’s Afrika Bambaataa, should be untouchable and pioneers of Hip-Hop should get a pass if they molested a child, is unforgettable,” Ronald Savage told AllHipHop.com.
It’s something Ronald Savage said was a problem in the community that is being grossly ignored.
“We have young kids out here. Being molested is not something new. This goes on in the black community, but it’s not talked about,” Ronald Savage told AllHipHop.com. “The voice of Hip-Hop is very powerful. For you not to talk about it or make statements like KRS, that’s like a slap in the face to every victim out there like myself.”
Read Ronald “Bee-Stinger” Savage’s full statement against KRS-One and check out the full interview with AllHipHop.com below the statement:
I Ronald “Bee-Stinger” Savage am going on record worldwide to state: KRS-One is the poster boy for keeping rapists and pedophiles safe.
He is a disgrace to every living man, woman and children all over the world. He poses a real threat to every child in this world.
He is worse than any catholic priest who has molested a child. Any DJ, radio station or video show still playing his music SHAME ON YOU.
KRS-One has offended the many child victims who have come forth after years of dealing with the pain of being molested by the Godfather of Hip-Hop, whom have taken this brave step for everyone who has ever been molested before, then to be slapped in the face by Hip-Hop’s own KRS-One, whom once was homeless and was embraced by the music industry with his testimony about being homeless.
Then to turn around and say that an alleged child molester, because it’s Afrika Bambaataa, should be untouchable and pioneers of Hip-Hop should get a pass if they molested a child is unforgettable.
I Ronald Savage, a child victim of one of the pioneers of Hip-Hop is demanding from the entire music industry, the immediate ban of KRS-One, from the music industry.
E-V-E has come a long way since her Stevie J days, clearly, as the female emcee is married to billionaire Maximillion Cooper, and Stevie, well Stevie is on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
Although Eve seems to only want to focus on the present and future, people always ask her about her past, particularly her past with Steebie.
Eve recently stopped by The Wendy Williams Show and told Wendy she didn’t remember much about dating Stevie J.
Of course Stevie didn’t take this well and he decided to throw a couple of jabs at Eve when he stopped by VH1’s new show VH1 Live.
Marc Lamont Hill brought up the fact that Eve hosted the VH1 Hip Hop honors recently, and the fact that Eve said she didn’t remember dating Stevie J. Stevie said,
“I showed her how to be a woman. I raised her. We dated for a while. When I met her she came into my living room with cut off jean shorts and Timberlands. I turned her into a Chanel, Fendi, Prada, Louie girl.”
Oh Stevie. Shout out to Eve for sliding out with the upgrade.
(AllHipHop News) WorldStarHipHop has been hit with a lawsuit from rapper Rubin “Khaotic” McFadden.
According to a press release from attorney Richard Wolfe, the Miami area performer is suing the website for invasion of privacy, defamation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
WorldStar posted a 45-second video of McFadden and female acquaintance Nina Allimpic engaged in consensual sexual acts in a private bedroom.
The lawsuit claims the video received more than 350,000 views and numerous other websites/media outlets picked up the video posted on WSHH.
“My clients had no intention of the video being released to the public,” said Wolfe. “My clients have no knowledge on how the defendants obtained the video, as the video was only stored on McFadden’s personal cellular phone.”
This litigation follows the highly publicized case involving Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea winning $115 million in compensatory damages and $25 million in punitive damages from Gawker Media for posting the pro wrestler’s sex tape.
The McFadden/Allimpic video has since been removed from WorldStar. However, Khaotic asserts the unauthorized posting and dissemination of the video fostered an unfavorable public perception of him.
“My client has devoted a substantial amount of time and effort developing his career, reputation, and brand,” said Wolfe. “These efforts have created considerable commercial value in his name image, identity, and persona.”
The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial to award compensation of damages in excess of $15,000. WorldStarHipHop and its owner Lee “Q” O‘Denat are named as defendants in the lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court.
The Game and Jeremih team up once again, following up their last month single “All Eyez,” with a new collaboration titled “Let Me,” produced by Bongo The Drugahd. Be sure to check Jeremih’s new album “Late Nights: Europe,” which he released earlier this week.
(AllHipHop Features) I had the chance to speak with noted spoken word artist Malik Yusef. After discussing his contribution to musical work by Vic Mensa, Beyoncé, and Kanye West in the first part of our conversation, the second installment has Yusef speaking further about Ye’s The Life Of Pablo.
The product of Chicago’s South Side also gave some insight into the follow-up to Common’s 2014 LP Nobody’s Smiling. Yusef shares his views on his hometown’s current Hip Hop wave as well.
You worked with Kanye on his latest album. One of the things I like about Kanye – and what I think a lot of people appreciate – is that he reinvents his sound with every album. At what point in the creative process was the decision made that you’re going to go in this gospel inspired direction?
I think we’re always trying to get to that gospel feel. Kanye’s relationship with Kirk Franklin helped pushed that. Fonzworth Bentley, who’s super-duper Christian – they all have that Christian feel, sound, and desire. I think that had a lot to do with it.
I just came at and made it more hood. What do I bring to everything? I just bring hood sh-t. I’ve been on the street, gang banging since I was 12 years old. Everything I try to get to is hood.
I’m a poet. I got homies that ain’t never seen me perform in their life. When I first started doing poetry, n-ggas thought I was gay. They were like, “What happened to make you turn gay?” That’s what was said to me by my OGs. Like, “What did we do wrong that we didn’t save you from turning gay?”
I don’t know if you saw this, but Boosie did an interview where he said he believes TV is making kids gay.
I’m not a scientist, but I do think that you can become gay. Some of my friends that are gay think that you are born that way. Some of them think that it’s a choice. I think the gay community itself is polarized about the same thing.
When people go to prison and have love affairs with somebody of the same sex, is every criminal gay? That’s a big indictment right there. I don’t know if we want to go down that path – that everybody that has committed a crime and incarcerated is gay. I don’t think that makes sense to me.
We don’t have enough scientific evidence right now to understand what it is, but there has been a huge proliferation of people living a homosexual lifestyle. Maybe because we have more freedoms, but definitely some chemicals are involved.
Can you turn gay? I believe yeah because I don’t believe everybody that went to prison or every criminal just happens to have a predisposition to crime and to homosexuality. That’s a huge indictment. I don’t think we want to start going down that path – that every bad person, killer is also a homosexual.
That gets scary. That sounds like Nazi Germany, exterminate this group of people before they do a crime type sh-t. I want to be very careful in that area.
Some of my close friends that are gay say yes you can turn gay, it’s a choice. Some say, “I was born this way.” I don’t think either one is wrong or right. It’s what they feel. I can’t pass judgment from being Malik Yusef. All I know is that I’m not gay or feel the need to be gay.
Going back to Kanye’s album. Another thing that I found interesting is that he continues to tweak the album. He’s called it this “living expression.” Do you see that becoming the norm in the future?
It’s the norm for me because I’ve been doing it with G.O.O.D. Morning, G.O.O.D. Night for five or six years. If you look through all of those, you’ll see different versions of G.O.O.D. Morning, G.O.O.D. Night.
I’ve definitely been doing it. I don’t see anything wrong with it. I’m surprised that a mainstream artist like Kanye did it. I’m more like the independent artist, the underground guy.
Are you working on another version?
Yeah, I think this is the fourth version of G.O.O.D. Morning, G.O.O.D. Night.
What about the Cruel Winter album?
We’re working on it now.
Do you expect that it will be out before the end of the year?
I have no expectations on release dates anymore. I learned my lesson on that with Yeezus.
So you have the Cruel Winter album and a fourth version of G.O.O.D. Morning, G.O.O.D. Night. Do you have anything else in the works?
Yeah, Vic’s project obviously. I’m also working with The Band Perry right now. They left Big Machine, and now they’re at Interscope.
What about another project from Common?
Common is coming right now. He’s almost finished. It’s crazy. Common is a superstar now, so he can get away with anything. But he’s still making the best music. He’s a superstar. When you become that, you can get away with way more sh-t. He’s still like, ‘I’m not going to cheat my way through it though.”
It’s still kind of weird. I grew up listening to “rapper” Common, and now he’s “Academy Award winner” Common. That’s kind of crazy. [laughs]
That’s how I feel too. When we go to dinner, and people say, “Oh, Common’s here. Let Common sit right here.” He’s a b-boy for real, and I feel like they don’t even know that part of Common.
He’s the Grammy award winner, Oscar award winner. He’s that guy now. To me he’s still Common but also that guy. I feel like it’s a weird thing to see your friend be such a superstar. You know that’s not who he really is, but he’s kind of forced to be a superstar.
I really love what the Chicago movement is doing right now. You can look at the legends like Kanye and Common, but then you also have Vic, Chance [The Rapper], and even G Herbo. The city seems to be in a really good creative space.
It is. I’m more excited about Chicago music than I have ever been. I see it as this real industry now, not just a bunch of guys that rap here or there.
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Young Buck cooled his heels behind bars, after he allegedly threatened to set his girlfriend’s apartment on fire.
The rapper allegedly threatened his ex girlfriend on Wednesday (July 20), went to her apartment and kicked down the door during another domestic dispute with the woman.
Young Buck was arrested for the encounter yesterday (July 21), but he was quickly released on $5,000 bond.
The altercation could prove to be problematic for Young Buck, who is on probation after serving 18 months for possessing a handgun and ammunition in 2013.
In March, prosecutors wanted to lock-up the rapper after he threatened a man who was attempting to collect back child support owed to one of his children.
(AllHipHop News) According to DJ Khaled, the Miami representative was willing to relocate to Jay Z’s hometown in order to make sure the Roc Nation boss would jump on one of his tracks.
“It took me years to get Jay Z to do a record for me, and it’s not like he did not want to do it. It’s just I had to make it known that I wanted Jigga on my record,” Khaled informed Music Choice. “People don’t even know – I never really told this story – I basically got a condo in New York City for a whole year to stay close by him and let him know how hungry I was for that verse.”
He added, “It was a year process that I had to go back and forth from Miami to New York. I had a condo in New York, so I stayed in New York. I had to let him know I’m not going nowhere.”
Jay collaborated with Khaled for 2014’s “They Don’t Love Me Know More” which also featured Meek Mill, Rick Ross, and French Montana. They also recently teamed up with Future for “I Got The Keys” off Khaled’s forthcoming Major Key album.
Fresh off his joint album with Juicy J and producer TM88, Wiz Khalifa continues to bless fans with new material, serving up a new Ricky P-produced joint titled “Wit The Kids.” The Taylor Gang captain is set to hit the road soon with Snoop Dogg for their “The High Road” tour.
Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Prince did more than just accept his award when he was honored for his local contributions at the 2016 Go DJ Awards in Houston.
Prince also took a moment to take a shot at Birdman as he referenced Birdman’s popular phrase about putting respect on one’s name.
J. Prince expressed that he refused to beg anyone to put respect on his name, and he feels that some people need to put some respect on their own names.
“Lot of people look hungry out there and I’m hungry up here. It’s a beautiful thing. Let’s just respect it. We don’t want to go around beg nobody to put respect on our name. We not them kind of people. We put respect on our own name therefore we ain’t got to do no plea bargain to put respect on our names. Just know that and represent that,” said J. Prince.
Remember J. Prince’s son Jas Prince sued Cash Money for $11 million dollars after Cash Money failed to pay him royalties after he brought Drake to their label.
It has been reported that Cash Money and Jas Prince reached a settlement, but perhaps Papa Prince still doesn’t respect Birdman either way.
(AllHipHop News) While his opening lines on French Montana’s “No Shopping” were directed at Joe Budden, Drake has yet to commit more than a few bars towards the Slaughterhouse member.
Even though Budden has now released three separate diss records aimed at Drake, the response back from the OVO leader has been light.
Drake did find time to offer some more words for Joe during his “Summer Sixteen Tour” stop last night.
“We got that good energy going on. I should’ve brought Joe Budden up here and let him do ‘Pump It Up’ one time tonight,” Drizzy told the crowd. “Pump, pump it up! F##k the ni##a!”
Making fun of Budden’s 2003 song “Pump It Up” has been a regular shot by Drake.
He also mentioned the record on “No Shopping” and suggested the New Jersey emcee is a one hit wonder.

(AllHipHop News) There has not been a large number of rap albums to experience huge sales in 2016 so far. Drake’s Views is the only Hip Hop project to cross the one million mark.
The OVO leader’s fourth studio album has pushed 1,313,000 copies in the first six months of 2016, the second highest for any album among all genres behind Adele’s 25 (1,403,000).
As far as rap releases, projects by Kevin Gates, Kendrick Lamar, and Future are the next three highest selling through the mid-year. Gates’s Islah isedging closer to half a million sales with a total of 307,000 purchased copies.
Kendrick Lamar’s surprise 8-track EP Untitled Unmastered has pushed 245,000 copies. Evol by Future now sits at 163,000 copies sold.
When looking at overall equivalent album units (sales plus streaming), G-Eazy jumps near the top. His When It’s Dark Out collected 605,000 units.
Drake again leads that tally as well. Views has 2,609,000 equivalent album units. Islah (690,000 units) and Evol (487,000 units) make the top 4 as well.
(AllHipHop News) “When Alton Sterling getting killed for nothing, two cowards in the car.
They’re just there to film. Saying Black Lives Matter should’ve died with him,” rapped Schoolboy Q on his “THat Part (Black Hippy Remix).”
Those words were met with some negative feedback for the California rapper, and he addressed the controversial lyrics during an interview with Complex.
“There’s no need for four or five people to film another black man die. We get it now. We keep seeing black men die on camera,” said Schoolboy.
The Blank Face LP album creator was then asked what would he have done in that situation.
“I see one person filming, that’s all I need. It’s two cops, they can’t do nothing with him, and so I think it’s my job now to stand right next to the situation,” stated Q. “If that means I have to get tased or if I have to go to jail for an hour because I’m in they way just to save this man’s life, I’ma do it. I’ma sit there. I’m going to have my hands up. If they shoot me, so be it – I’m doing something that I think can stop this man from getting killed.
He added, “I’m about to sit here and watch and film and not say anything? Don’t get me wrong, we need at least one person to film. But if it’s multiple people who are witnessing it, there’s no purpose in getting different angles of it. I’m starting to think you just really like to get this sh-t now. You wanna go around screaming ‘black lives matter,’ right?”
Warner Bros. is gearing up the release of their upcoming film “Suicide Squad,” with both the film and soundtrack hitting everywhere next week, August 5th. Today, we get the Skrillex and Rick Ross collaboration from the album titled “Purple Lambroghini,” which is most likely in reference to Joker’s vehicle, who’s seen driving a purple Lamborghini in the trailer. Zane Lowe premiered the track earlier on Beats 1 Radio.
