Chance The Rapper Tells Fans Not To Visit Chicago Bowling Alley

(AllHipHop News) Something went down over the weekend between Chance the Rapper and the management of Chicago-based bowling alley, Whirley Ball.

The Coloring Book rapper went to Twitter to speak out about how the establishment’s staff treated him unfairly when he made a recent visit.

Chance claimed that Whirley Ball used to be a family-friendly place, but with “new management,” the company has gone a different route with a strict age limit, armed security, and a confusing dress code.

Whirley Ball hasn’t responded to the Chance’s recent statements about the bowling alley through either social media or their website.

However, the rapper did throw shade at their recent tweet claiming that they loved having him.

Has Frank Ocean Teased Another Release?

It seems like Frank Ocean is gearing up to drop again. Do “we” care? I know the ladies are dripping with anticipation even though homie is really not about y’all. The album, Boys Don’t Cry, will apparently be dropping later this month. That’s the word, at least. According to an image, posted by Frank himself, in the form of a library card due sheet, the album is coming this month. Apparently, the lead single is called “Late.” I thought the homie had retired and went on to be a doctor or something. It has been that long, folks. The other key date is November so that could be the date. The album was originally set for a July 2015 release. Don’t get your hopes up too high, folks.

Azealia Banks Says Lightening Her Skin Does Not Negate Her Views On Blackness

(AllHipHop News) Azealia Banks has admitted to lightening her skin and now states that what she has done is no different than other ways non-whites adopt Euro-centric features.

“What’s the difference between getting a nose job and changing your skin color? What’s the difference between getting a hair weave or changing your skin color? Nobody was upset when I was wearing 30-inch weaves and tearing out my edges. You guys loved it, but what is the difference? I don’t understand what the difference is,” Banks said in a video posted on Twitter.

In the video, she says her changes in hue have not negated her bold stances on the state of Blackness as it relates to race relations in America.

Slim Jesus Is Back, Honoring His Dead Homies!

Slim Jesus is ready to rise like his Christian counterpart. And this time, he is not bussing shots, but paying homage to his fallen comrades. Just kidding – he’s bussing mad shots at all the busters out there. “On The Block” is standard fare, with a bunch of young goons and, maybe, criminals. One never really knows. Nevertheless, Slim Jesus took longer than three days, but he’s making an earnest effort to rise from the dead. Only God can judge him.

A Photographic Retrospective Of Jay Z & Roc-A-Fella – A 20th Anniversary Celebration

Photos taken by Biba Adams

Upon its release in 1996, Reasonable Doubt was not considered an instant classic. It was time, Jay Z’s own grind, and some would say the unfortunate end of the east coast/west coast rivalry that catapulted Jigga to the top of the hip-hop landscape. No matter what critics ultimately decide, Reasonable Doubt lives as one of the most classic debut’s in our culture, and its artwork is a huge part of that.

Jonathan Mannion was a huge part of that, as the man behind the camera in some of Hip-Hop’s most iconic images.

At  Mannion’s 20th Anniversary celebration (#Mannion20Anniversary), the first room of the Manhattan gallery was dedicated to traditional print media. Framed black and white photographs of Jay Z taken during the Reasonable Doubt photo shoot line the walls. The album’s concept, according to Mannion, “was more of a style piece, based on New York City.” Shot using 30 rolls of film where every single roll and frame aimed to tell a story.

The photog took some time to celebrate his success with a private event in the swank Chelsea neighborhood of New York City on Thursday, June 30th. Sounds were provided by the man DJ Clark Kent whose own hip-hop history is one of legend, Roc-a-Fella co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke and friend Emory Jones came through to celebrate the classic.
The second room was full of what Mannion hopes will happen with his art, the photos had been adapted into canvas pieces and interpretations that took the photos to a new artistic level. “The second room is about advancing and experimenting with art…with different colorways. It’s such an honor to be able to share that with the people.” And the people who attended the party were grateful.

Guests milled around the gallery, clamoring for shots of Dusse’ which were in short supply. As DJ Clark Kent spun record after record by Jay Z, people mouthed the lyrics like ancient chants. As hip-hop ages and begins to look back upon its humble beginnings, there will be more anniversary celebrations. “This is really the beginning,” Mannion says, “These are the milestones for the people who have been putting the work in for a long time.”

The 20th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt is an opportunity for hip-hop to reflect upon from whence it came and to marvel at how much farther it can go. It is an opportunity to give Jay and The Roc their flowers while they can smell them. It is an opportunity to also celebrate that the culture is larger than just the artist who create its soundtrack. DJ Quik once said that the world sees hip-hop through the eyes of Jonathan Mannion, and with so many classic album covers under his belt, that in and of itself is worth celebrating.

Drake’s “One Dance” Holds On To Top Spot On UK Charts For Record Span

(AllHipHop News) Drake’s track “One Dance,” featuring Wizkid and Kyla has held on to the top spot in the UK for the longest span in 22 years, with the track reigning number one for its 12th consecutive week.

In more good news for the rapper in the overseas market, Drake’s Rihanna assisted single “Too Good” also made a move from 5-3 on the UK charts.

According to reports from Billboard,  the single “One Dance” is the first track to maintain at number one in the UK for such a length of time since Wet Wet Wet’s#### “Love Is All Around,” which dominated the charts for 15 weeks.

This latest news follows reports earlier in the week of the track holding the top spot for the US Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth week in a row.

The Wizkid and Kyla featuring track “One Dance” is one of the standout tracks from Drake’s April 29 release Views.

As a collective piece of work the album has certainly received its accolades as well, with the project topping the US Billboard 200 for the eighth consecutive week.

Drake And Rihanna Get To Slappin’ Their Ugly Parts!

Drake And Rihanna Are LOVERS!

I know, I know…this is probably played out for you. But we do it for documentarian purposes as well. And we have to document that Drake and Rihanna are now a couple, or at least dating. Both of these two have had a lot of mates in the industry. God Bless.

https://twitter.com/DailyRapFacts/status/749056670840393728?

But, they are dating.

I guess Drake is the big winner here since he immediately gets to deflect that pesky Joe Budden rap battle that’s gotta be dogging him on the low. Then again, after watching this video, maybe not.

Rihanna is a bad mamba jamba! Drake is Drake.

NAH, Drake is cool. I just don’t like the thought of his hands all over my woman’s body parts.

I will be ok.

Bun B Urges NBA Star Kevin Durant To Bring His Talents To Houston

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop legend and Houston area representative Bun B urges Kevin Durant to bring his talents to Houston.

When asked about how he feels the team would handle the absence of Dwight Howard if deals fell through, Bun B says that it could free up cash flow for the team to make better choices and also stated that he felt the team may have already been prepared for such a scenario.

Moments later in the interview Bun B drops his best pitch to Kevin Durant to bring him to the team after letting it be known that the 27-year old millionaire is his top free agent choice and a close friend of his.

“If you got to leave OKC, come to H-Town, just come to H-town. It’s about as close to the feel and style of Oklahoma City as any other city, but we have all of the modern luxuries that you could possible want of any metropolitan city in America man.  And you got the Trill og here, so you know I’ma hold you down.”

The NBA’s most sought after free agent will be taking meetings with the Warriors, Clippers, Spurs, Celtics and Heat over the weekend after meeting with his current team The Oklahoma City Thunder this past Thursday.

Kevin Durant led the Thunder to the Western Conference Finals before they were eliminated by Curry & Co of Golden State after blowing a 3-1 series lead.

Yo! Joe Budden Goes At French Montana Or Did He!?!

Joe Budden looks like he’s about to go into the Battle Royale! He’s taken it to Drake and Meek Mill and now he’s about to go after French Montana – or not. Nevertheless, last night, Joe told French – his friend: “French, I’m talking to the ppl who can rap! Mind your f**king business.”

Screen Shot 2016-07-01 at 11.17.29 PM

But it looks like Joe was quick to fix damage done or at least retain a friend.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BHV1_KLh5_S/

The important thing is that it seems like Drake had a diss for Joe Budden lined up, but French intervened and/or shut it down. It is not clear. I’m thinking the rapper in Drake really wants to get at Joe like he got at Meek. But, the industry around him is probably not with it.

Read: “Dear Drake: You Need This Joe Budden Rap Battle”

Reminds me of a scene from Rocky with Clubber Lang.

Joe really seems to want to battle for the sake of battling.

Kendrick Lamar To Celebrate July 4th With President Obama At The White House

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar and Janell Monae will be performing at the White House for a special event this 4th of July.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will be hosting military veterans and their families for fireworks, barbecue, and a concert for which Kendrick and Janell will be performing.

According to White House press secretary Josh Earnest, White House staff along with their families from the administration will also be attending the July 4th event.

“On Monday, the President and the First Lady will celebrate the Fourth of July, as they always, do by hosting military heroes and their families for an Independence Day celebration, with a barbecue, a concert, and a view of the fireworks on the South Lawn of the White House,” Earnest said during a press conference. “White House staff and their families from throughout the administration will also attend this event for the fireworks viewing. T

Kendrick Lamar visited the White House last year after he shook the music industry up with his uplifting and controversial effort To Pimp A Butterfly.

Following the visit, President Obama even told People magazine that thought provoking cut from the record “How Much A Dollar Cost” was his favorite song of the year.

Bad Boy songstress Janell Monae has also made an appearance at the White House, as she paid a visit to the landmark earlier this year to discuss Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative regarding criminal justice reform.

Dear Drake: You Need This Joe Budden Rap Battle

Drake, you need this Joe Budden battle.

This is Hip-Hop.

First, let me establish where I am with this whole thing. I’m a fan of both you and Joe Budden. I’m also a fan of Hip-Hop. I’ve owned the standard of this online rap ish in AllHipHop for a minute. I did the first big interview on Joe Budden for the Source magazine many, many moons ago. That was a glorious period of time as I penned him “the one” (a nod to the movie “The Matrix). I’m not like folks like Big Ghost LTD. Those guys are not fans of Drake and they let it be known. I appreciate you, homie. For real and my Spotify playlist speaks truth. I appreciate albums from the first (So Far Gone) ’til the last joint with Future (What a Time to Be Alive).

This is Hip-Hop.

My respect for you was solidified when I interviewed you in 2010 and you put actor Leonardo DiCaprio in your “Top 5 Dead or Alive” when everybody was only putting rappers in their lists. You stood on your square even when I told you AllHipHop’s audience would likely eat you up in the comments. But your star only shone brighter. Ballsy move.

This is Hip-Hop.

Now is the time..pardon the expression…to let ‘em hang. You doubled up on Meek Mill – back to back. To a certain degree, you bullied him relentlessly in the media, at shows, on the mic and overpowered him. There was no mercy. We all sat there with vats of popcorn and enjoyed the show and waited for Nicki to dump the Philly representative. The case when very different with Kendrick Lamar when your Compton counterpart said lovingly:

“But this is Hip Hop and them n****s should know what time it is. That goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron[ica], Tyler [the Creator], Mac Miller. I got love for you all but I’m tryin’ to murder you nas. Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you nas,  they don’t want to hear not one more noun or verb from you n***as. What is competition? I’m trying to raise the bar high.”

-Big Sean’s “Control.”

I know some people questioned if it was a diss. I didn’t. I consider that a diss. Not shade. Not a sublime. A straight-up-calling-out-names-diss. Rappers reasoned their way out of that battle by any means necessary. I presume most cats didn’t want any parts of that young lion. Some emcees, like Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden responded even though they were not being called out. They didn’t care about political connects, album sales or who had the most money.

This is Hip-Hop.

There are rumors of ghostwriting, which some say are all facts – you know, Quentin Miller stuff. I still haven’t gotten through Views, which was a bit too much singing for my tastes. You have had minor skirmishes with thoroughbreds like Common (who lowkey beasted you on “Sweet” and “Stay Schemin,“) but nothing battle-wise to really escorted you into the annals of Hip-Hop greatness. Remember you said, “I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella Then I turned into Jay” on “Summer Sixteen”? Cute lyrics. The only thing is, Back when Jay was in his 20’s and beyond he was battling rappers left and right. He vanquished many foes and perhaps, depending on who you speak to, lost to some. Still he took on two major emcees in “The Takeover” alone. Brazen. The point is, this is some gladiator sh*t if you are waving the flag of Hip-Hop, King.

Take on Joe Budden- if you are waving that flag.

THIS IS HIP-HOP!

Make no mistake about it, Joe is one of my favorites – no question. He’s resonated with me and you since he dropped. I’ve seen some mumble mouths talk about “Love and Hip-Hop” this and so-called relevance that. Those people are voyeurs. Most of them don’t know the Tahiry stuff or the presumed subliminal disses you’ve thrown out at Joe or the competitive nature of Hip-Hop. And frankly, they can’t see the similarities between the two of you. Vultures and pseudo rap fans – you know, the ones that don’t know who Slum Village is –  don’t even know the undercurrent of history you two have.

THIS IS HIP-HOP!

Jay Z and Joe Budden may be in different places in life – AND IT MAY NOT SEEM LIKE IT ALL THE TIME – but they both know their responsibility to Hip-Hop. Jay Z fed the culture, ate from it, and ate off it and still understood deeply the responsibility of striving to be great or “the one.” So he and Joe Budden have entered that ring – head to head too – to vie for or defend the title. Sometimes they did it with poise and other times, things got messy. Hip-Hop battles are a duel of words…lyricism. Gun play and shoot em up talk is irrelevant for the most part and certainly secondary to clever bars and wordplay.

THIS IS HIP-HOP!

Battle rapping is the foundation of Hip-Hop. The the true greats know this. Battles are Hip-Hop’s truest and most sincere form of articulation. There aren’t too many more ways to demonstrate prowess as an emcee. That is assuming you consider yourself an emcee still. Perhaps you are an entertainer now and I can respect that too if you say it. But, Hip-Hop doesn’t take hostages, brother. We may play the art of war, but we don’t hide from confrontation. Hip-Hop doesn’t throw stones and hide hands. Hip-Hop doesn’t poke a gorilla from behind steel bars.

THIS IS HIP-HOP!

If you ain’t Hip-Hop, no biggie. I have plenty to listen to. David Banner, Tef Poe, Eshon Burgundy, Karega Bailey, Ill Camille, The Game, Tsu Surf, Kendrick Lamar, A$Ap Ferg, AKA (African rapper), Westside Gunn and so, so many more talented, emcees overflowing with swagger. Heck, I won’t even stop listening as long as the music is quality. However, if you are Hip-Hop, here are my final words. There is no honor in being a symbolic rapper. If you are not “Hip-Hop,” I suggest you remove rapper from your list of occupations so that we are clear on what the expectations are. Hip-Hop expects you to respond to Joe Budden, a legend by your own admission, that devoted over 100 bars of fury to you. Propelling the culture forward is what emcees do – the kings and queens of Hip-Hop. Stepping up to a challenge is another thing emcees do too. You are already the man, now I think its time to truly step up there with those you idolize. Those of us that still claim Hip-Hop, even as it evolves, won’t allow folks to exploit and perverse it by playing it safe and watching from the sidelines.

That’s what vultures do. We jump in the cage with gorilla.

We hate vultures.

In Peace, Positivity and Progress,

Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur

GZA Lights “The Spark” With NASA and Apple In Honor Of The Planet Jupiter

(AllHipHop News) Wu-Tang rap star GZA has joined forces with Apple and NASA to help publicize the agency and its mission to explore the universe.

Jay-Z’s Former Engineer To Sue LAPD, NYPD & Roc Nation For $220 Million

(AllHipHopNews) Jay-Z’s former engineer Chauncey Mahan will be suing the LAPD, NYPD, Roc Nation lawyers, and owner of Baseline Studios over recordings he believes were wrongfully seized.

Mahan originally filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z in 2014 over the masters for Life and Times of S. Carter, and The Dynasty albums, which the engineer claimed were stolen between 1998 to 2002.

The lawsuit was dismissed, but now Mahan has decided to target a plethora of other parties in relation to the incident.

In the documents for the lawsuit Mahan took issues with Jay-Z’s lawyers, who he says falsely claimed the tapes were stolen property and part of an extortion plot.

The engineer will be suing Roc Nation lawyers for $80 million.

In addition, Mahan will be suing the LAPD for $10 million for seizing the tapes in his storage facility, and will be suing the NYPD for $10 million, as the recordings were made at Baseline Studios in New York.

And finally, for good measure Mahan also will be suing the the owner of Baseline studios for $20 million and the cities of Los Angeles and New York for $50 million a piece.

In total Mahan will be suing all of the parties involved for a total of $220 million.

Is Drake Planning To Reply To Joe Budden? [POLL]

(AllHipHop News) In Episode 71 of Joe Budden’s “I’ll Name this Podcast Later,” the rapper discussed his diss record “Making A Murderer Part 1” during his hour-long Internet radio show.

Joe Budden made it abundantly clear that he has no personal issues with Drake, but was being proactive in releasing his “Making a Murderer Part 1” record.

In fact, Joe said he was a fan of both Drake, but he went on the attack, after French Montana posted a video that appeared to feature Drake mocking Joe’s#### 2004 single “Pump, Pump it Up.

Towards the end, Joe got a call from an associate, who forwarded him a Tweet that was recently sent out by Drake’s close associate, OVO Noel.

The Tweet simply featured a recording studio monitor, leaving many of OVO Noel’s followers to naturally assume some sort of reply was being planned.

The was enough to get Joe Budden excited.

“Tell your f##king boss, ni##a, worker ass ni##a, new slave ass ni##a, tell your boss that before I got word of your monitor picture, I was going to the studio to celebrate anyway, not rap. I am going to sit there and bask. I can post a picture of a monitor too. There’s an OVO Radio tomorrow, I am sure there will be something I think is a diss. Hopefully it will be aggressive. I just want bars…” Joe Budden joked. “OVO Noel, I love Drake. I am going to tear him the f##k and you with your pictures.”

If Drake does reply, he better be ready for a long a battle.

Joe Budden revealed that he had already recorded a bunch of diss records for anyone who might have something to say over the July 4th holiday.

And Joe Budden is unrestricted in what he can release, since he is 100% signed to his own label, Mood Muzik.

Ian Connor & Amber Rose Go At It Over Rape Allegations

It looks like Ian Connor may never fully take off as he has been plagued for months with rape allegations. Ian’s claim to slight “fame” was being a stylist and collaborator with Kanye West. Ian’s life began to spiral out of control when several women came forward accusing him of rape. Amber Rose decided to jump into the controversy with her recent interview with TheDailyBeast. Rose says 21 women have reached out to her saying they have been raped by Connor. Rose says,

“Because I have my SlutWalk, all of the women have reached out to me as well. They want to come to my SlutWalk and tell their story on my stage. I have that platform for them to do so. I’m not a lawyer. I can’t prosecute anyone or say what she’s saying is exactly the truth. I’m assuming there are more coming out. It’s innocent until proven guilty, but when you have 21 women from all over the world that do not know each other but have similar stories, it gets to the point where it’s like.. enough.”

Ian wasn’t here for Amber Rose or her SlutWalk. He tweeted,

“Attention seeking will be the death of so many inside and out. .. Lol c## this bald head b-tch is now the law. 21? Why the f-ck hasn’t one charge been pressed. Something’s not right.”

Do you think Ian raped all of these women?
