Mos Def Arrested In South Africa, Ordered To Leave The Country

(AllHipHop News) According to reports, Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) has been arrested in Cape Town, South Africa. The Brooklyn rapper, born Dante Smith, was taken into custody at the Cape Town International Airport over charges related to a “fraudulent passport.”

South Africa’s Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete addressed the situation via Twitter, and he revealed Mos and his family have 14 days to depart the country.

Mos reportedly relocated to South Africa in 2014. Last year, the “Ms. Fat Booty” rhymer did an interview with Beats By Dre where he explained why he moved away from the United States.

“America’s really a very challenging place for me,” said Mos. “Sure there’s great business opportunities, but given the current social, political, economic climate it’s very difficult, unnecessarily difficult, to create to the degree of fullness, the type of robust creativity I like to have – it’s very difficult for me to produce that [in America].”

Ice Cube Talks ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Oscar Snubs, Rock Hall Of Fame Induction & ‘Ride Along 2’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson Sr. has had a memorable few weeks. The Hip Hop legend’s group N.W.A was announce as part of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame class of 2016, and his latest movie Ride Along 2 is set to hit theaters today (January 15).

While there is a lot to celebrate in the Jackson household, some fans were disappointed the movie Straight Outta Compton did not receive Oscar nominations for Best Picture or in any of the acting categories. Cube dropped by The Wendy Williams Show, and he was asked about his group’s biopic getting snubbed by the Academy Awards.

“I thought you guys would get more [nominations],” said Wendy.

“Me too,” replied Cube. “I’m not p#####. I’m not surprised. It’s the Oscars. They do what they do. The people loved the movie. The people supported the movie. Number one at the box office, over $200 million worldwide – I can’t be mad.”

The 46-year-old actor/filmmaker also spoke about getting inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. Again, Cube was not too concerned with receiving accolades from the entertainment industry.

“It’s nice to be recognized, but N.W.A was anti-establishment,” expressed Cube. “We’re used to people trying to dismiss what we got to say. We’re used to the industry looking down on us. We were the black sheep of the industry.”

Wendy and Cube also chatted about Ride Along 2. According to Cube, it was a lot of fun working with his co-star Kevin Hart who he called a “real professional.”

2 Chainz Addresses C-Murder Diss Track (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this week, 2 Chainz found himself as the target of a diss track recorded by incarcerated rapper C-Murder. On the “2 Stainz” song, the former No Limit Records representative called out the Atlanta rhymer for stealing his TRU brand.

TMZ caught up with 2 Chainz. The Based On A T.R.U. Story album creator downplayed the conflict by making it clear he will not be releasing a response track. Chainz also stated he was a fan of No Limit, but he was never influenced by C-Murder.

“I didn’t even listen to it,” said Chainz about C’s diss record.

He added, “I’m disappointed that he’s upset, but I got nothing but love for the man. I hope he can come home and take care of his family. I ain’t got time to try and kick nobody while they’re down.”

(AllHipHop News) Rick Ross was among the stars – including Ne-Yo, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and the Jackson brothers – to pay tribute to the King of Pop at Monster’s CES 2016 event in Las Vegas. The boss hit the stage at the “Healing the World – A Tribute to Michael Jackson” showcase to run through a few of MJ’s popular tunes. AllHipHop.com spoke with Ross to get his thoughts on what the global icon meant to him.

“I remember I was in LA going to the studio when he passed,” says Ross. “I remember the driver took me by the crib. We sat outside. I smoked one for the big homie. He’s the greatest.”

Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009. Often named the greatest entertainer of all time, the Gary, Indiana native was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, won 13 Grammy awards, and inspired generations of performers.

“Thriller – 60 million [sold] worldwide, 30 [million sold] in the U.S.,” adds Ross. “That’s something a boss always gotta pay homage to. That’s forever.”

“I’ve been hurt, abandoned, lied on, and disrespected. I’ve realized you can’t change people.. And the thing about rough times is, I’ve survived every single one,” wrote Draya Michele in an Instagram caption. The former Basket Ball Wives L.A. reality starlet has reportedly split from her fiancé, Orlando Scandrick, this according to TMZ.

Through an insider from Draya’s circle, the gossip publication claims that back on Jan. 1, the Mint Swim boss ended the engagement. Following a sometimes times tumultuous relationship with the Dallas Cowboys defensive back, Draya, who is 6 months pregnant, wants to create a peaceful co-parenting atmosphere for their unborn son.

While Draya is definitely going through heatache and angst, she is challenging herself to stay positive. In another IG post she reflected, “Today is a celebration for me …. I’ve made 6 months…. And I’m ok rejoicing alone. I have a son and another on the way, soon to be surrounded by 2 kings. Protectors.”

Big Kap & Armadale Vodka To Drop Stevie J – Benzino Mixtape, ‘The Magnificent 757’s'

(AllHipHop News)  The long-awaited mixtape, The Magnificent 757’s, from veteran musician Stevie J, and Hip-Hop businessman, Benzio, is scheduled to be released. The postponed project will be available Friday night (Jan. 22), as confirmed by a press release. Big Kap and Armadale Vodka have been instrumental to helping secure the release date.

In the past, both Stevie J and Benzio appeared on the hit reality show, Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta. The dynamic duo, were once as close as brothers. When their relationship deteriorated so did their desire to pursue the project. Looking past their personal drama, Big Kap – who was once Biggie Smalls’ DJ – rescued the situation.

Viewed as “one of Hip-Hop’s most influential DJ’s,” Big Kap, has earned a respected rapport with both with both men. “I guarantee you people are gonna be surprised when they hear this. Bridging the gap between Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Big Band, the soulful mixtape is everything “all wrapped up in one.” Acclaimed singer, Money Marquise, teams up with Stevie J and Benzino to create a standout track. Although Stevie J and Benzino’s reality-based drama once detoured their project, Big Kap went on to state, “Now I know what happened between them on Love & Hip-Hop, but I’m not here for that. EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Customs Make Major “Hoverboard" Bust

(AllHipHop News) Artists like Erykah Badu, Big Sean, Wiz Kalifa and more have become owners of hoverboards, one of the hottest comodities in 2015. However, the government is cracking down in the interest of public safety.

AllHipHop has exclusively learned that Wednesday U.S. Customs and Border Protection made major move against an import coming from China. The CBP busted a hooverboard company (also called self-balancing scooters) that it maintains was importing hundreds of potentially dangerous versions of the popular transportation toy.

The bust happened on the Port of Miami at the Miami seaport and it was done all in the interest of public safety, said Diane J. Sabatino, Director, Field Operations for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“As the Director, Field Operations for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, overseeing inspections throughout the State of Florida, I take particular interest in seizures like this one. While self-balancing scooters are certainly prevalent in main stream pop culture, the fact remains that certain versions being imported into the United States are counterfeit and therefore, a safety concern. This is a great example of what the men and women of CBP do on a daily basis to maintain the safety of the American Public.” said Sabatino to AllHipHop.com in an exclusive statement.

No arrests were made at the time of this writing.

“The men and women of CBP have many important roles, said Port Director Dylan DeFrancisci to AllHipHop. “One such role is ensuring that products entering the U.S. are safe. This is an example of ensuring that a product, potentially making its way to a child, has genuine parts and is safe for use.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is tasked with several responsibilities in additional to maintaining a secure border with lawful travel into the United States. These duties involve the trade community and ensuring that products are not counterfeit. Furthermore, the division state they are resolute in ensuring the imports are non-hazardous for the American public.

With this Miami seizure and others, it seem that counterfeit or faulty batteries are are the primary concern for the CBP, because hooverboards have been known to catch fire without warning. Officials seized a shipment of 445 hoverboards in Norfolk, Va. on December 16, 2015, because of dangerous and counterfeit trademark batteries.

Waka Flocka Gets Roasted Over Powerball Comment

While everyone wanted to win the $1.5 billion lottery, Waka Flocka had a different view-a view that would get him relentlessly roasted on social media.

Waka tweeted,

“How is it that America is quote on quote in debt #But the lottery is 1.5 billion #PleaseExplain.”

Didn’t he want to run for president? Poor Waka. No one told Waka how the lottery works, and no one told him that even if the lottery was government run, $1.5 billion wouldn’t put a dent in the trillions of debt America is in. Many fans were also stuck on “Quote on quote.” Carry on.
