iEKNOWS ft. Draea Brooke – Intermission 1998

Sometimes the things we were meant to do in life just don’t seem to happen for some reason or another. But at the same time it leaves room for you to be great at something else. Enter iEKNOWS, a young artist/producer from Orlando, Florida, who was a promising college basketball recruit on his way to Auburn University, but was hit with a major knee injury that left him unable to step on the court. During the rehab process iEKNOWS started working on his other dream, music.

Today the young emcee recruits the soulful Draea Brooke for, “Intermission 1998,” the first single off his forthcoming album, Rolling With The Punches, and is scheduled to drop later this summer. “Intermission 1998” is a thought provoking record that will stimulate your mind and bring you to a sense of realism.

Wedding Bells For Christina Milian & Lil’ Wayne?

Photo by Kevin Winter Getty Images

Christina Milian says her and Lil’ Wayne are not talking wedding bells at the moment, “But if it happens, you never know.. it’d be cool. I’m always open to wedding bells.” Christina seems to be just going with the flow and concentrating on her “work”. Do we really want anymore music from Christina? Is she delusional to think that Wayne may ever marry her?

Killer Mike Unable To Run For Georgia State Representative

Killer Mike tried to crossover from hip-hop to politics by entering the election for Georgia state representative. The special election for District 55 is being held today (June 16) and he asked that people go to the polls and write him in as a candidate under his real name, Michael Render. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that simple.

The Run the Jewels spitter took to his Instagram to break that news that he would have to enter the race as a write-in candidate and not just have voters write his name down on the ballot. Despite the setback, he said he was happy to shed light on the importance of voting. Peep his post below.

I can't run ? BUT ? For the folks that were willing to Write in #MichaelRender Thank U so Much. I am gonna run one day and WE WILL WIN. However in Ga I wud have to officially enter as a "write in" vs being an Actual Write in (those are the breaks) but, I really felt it important to draw attention to this race. Rachel Dolezal Breaks Silence And Says Identifies As Black (VIDEO)

Former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal has broken her silence and sat down with Matt Lauer of the Today show to tell her side of the story. Dolezal caught national attention after her parents outed her as white woman who has been posing as a black woman for almost a decade.

When asked if she was an African-American woman, Dolezal revealed that she does “identify as black.” During their chat, Dolezal said she began to see herself as black at 5-years-old.

“I was drawing self-portraits with the brown crayon instead of the peach crayon, and black curly hair,” she said.

The 37-year-old said that she hopes that people will focus more on what it is to be human instead of the racial aspect of what she did.

“As much as this discussion has somewhat been at my expense recently, and in a very sort of viciously inhumane way come out of the woodwork, the discussion is really about what it is to be human,” she said. “I hope that that can drive at the core of definitions of race, ethnicity, culture, self determination, personal agency and, ultimately, empowerment.”

Watch the interview to see what she has to say about being accused of her doing blackface, how her black sons (who are actually her adopted brothers) feel about the controversy and more. Her parents also sat down on the Today show, which can also be seen below.

Beyonce Faces Lawsuit For Allegedly Stealing ‘XO’ Song From Background Singer

One of Beyonce’s former backup singers is accusing her of being a thief. Ahmad Lane, a former backup singer, alleges that he wrote Beyonce’s#### “XO” first and that Bey stole it from him, Radar Online reports. Lane has filed a $7 million lawsuit against Bey.

According to the documents, Lane says that while singing background for another artist along with fellow background singer Chrissy Collins, who also sings backup for Beyonce, he shared his song “XOXO” with her. Lane believes that Collins shared the song with the “7/11” singer.

Lane says that “XO”  “allegedly copies the first four bars of an eight bar melody that is looped,” and “contains a four note sequence that is similar to the four note sequence” of his song.

On June 5th, Beyonce responded to these claims saying that she is world renowned singer who has sold 118 million records and won 17 Grammys and does not have to resort to such measures to birth a hit song. She called the allegations “vague and cryptic” and said that the two songs have no similarities besides the “X” and the “O.”

Yonce’s attorney also stated that the two songs are also different in nature, with Lane’s song featuring lyrics about “being horny” and  “wanting to love every inch of the lover’s body.” Beyonce’s “XO” was described as a “celebration of love and life, emphasizing the importance of living in the present with a loved one ‘before our time has run out.’”

Beyonce and her legal team are fighting to have the case dismissed.

Michael Jackson’s Son Blanket Changes His Name

After years of getting bullied because his name was Blanket Jackson, Michael Jackson’s youngest son has undergone a name change. The 13-year-old will now go by Bigi, according to RadarOnline.

An inside source said that he changed his name before entering The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, CA “because he hated getting bullied and made fun of because his name was Blanket.”

“He always thought that the name Blanket sounded so stupid and resented his father for calling him that,” the insider said. “Growing up, his school mates have always been slightly mean to him because of their jealousy over who he is and going by Blanket made him a much easier target for ridicule.”

The name Bigi is of German descent and means idealistic, sensitive and inspirational.

Azealia Banks Speaks On Rachel Dolezal Controversy

Azealia Banks is not one to remain tight lipped about racial issues, so it was only a matter of time before she took to Twitter to address the controversy surrounding Rachel Dolezal. Dolezal recently resigned as the president of the Spokane, WA chapter of the NAACP after her parents exposed her as a white woman who was passing for black for almost 10 years.

The Broke With Expensive Taste rapper wasn’t the slightest bit bothered by the situation though. Instead, she found humor in Dolezal’s deception and wondered if a transracial phenomenon was on the way.

Lil B Explains James Harden & Kevin Durant Curse, Disses Chedda Da Connect, and Breaks Down NBA Finals Play With DJ Whoo Kid (AUDIO)

Lil B has pioneered the cooking dance, and a lot of Athletes and Artists have since adopted it. But this was ill-advised for Houston Rockets Shooting Guard James Harden. During Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, Harden was cooking on the court and then dissed Lil B saying he didn’t know who he was. In fact this was false, and Harden fully knew what he was doing. Because of this, Game 3 was the start of the curse for the Rockets SG and Golden State went on to win the series.

The Bay’s own Lil B had called into DJ Whoo Kid’s show on Shade 45 (Sirius XM) this Saturday and lifted the curse off Harden. Listen as he explains why, and also warning other Athletes to be careful when performing the dance as they could have the same fate. Also he states why Kevin Durant still has the curse and why it won’t be lifted, and also takes stabs at Chedda Da Connect for swagger jacking with his single “Flicka Da Wrist”.

Lil B also thanks T.I. for showing love to the “Kevin Durant Diss” on Jimmy Kimmel. Then he later pays homage to Waka Flocka Flame, OJ Da Juiceman, and Gucci Mane for being pioneers. The interview is closed out with B’s predictions for the close of the series, and says that Eminem’s “Nail In The Coffin” is his favorite record.
