Apple Officially Set To Launch Music Streaming Service To Take On Spotify & Tidal

(AllHipHop News) Most observers knew it was coming. Sony Music CEO Doug Morris confirmed during an interview at the Midem Music Industry Festival that Apple is ready to launch its music streaming service later today. The platform, which has been referred to as Apple Music in the press, will be introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference event in San Francisco.

The service will provide users an unlimited access to a music catalog for a $10/month subscription. A revamp of iTunes Radio is expected as well. Apple’s latest venture will enter a very competitive streaming marketplace that includes industry leader Spotify as well as Tidal, Pandora, Rapsody, Rdio, Google Play, and SoundCloud.

Apple’s purchase of Beats Electronics in 2014 from Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre was seen as a set-up for today’s move. The Beats buyout also brought the streaming service Beats Music under Apple’s wing.

There have also been reports that Drake and Pharrell Williams are teaming up with Apple to serve as guest DJs for the company’s iTunes Radio. Both performers are scheduled to appear at WWDC. Apple’s Jimmy Iovine reportedly lured Drake away from joining Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, and others as an owner of Tidal.

Kanye West’s upcoming album Swish has been linked to Apple too. The GOOD Music founder’s association with the company has not been confirmed as of press time.

Did Diddy Call Out French Montana For Performing With 50 Cent?

One of the most surprising moments from last night’s Hot 97 Summer Jam was seeing 50 Cent and French Montana on stage together during Chris Brown’s performance. It’s no secret 50 and French have been beefing for a while, so having the New York reps stand in front of that tri-state crowd would seem to be a good sign for NYC.

Except French’s boss may not be too happy about it. See, 50 has been calling out Diddy for over a year, saying he can’t make hot music anymore and claiming his vodka brand Effen is better than Diddy’s Ciroc. Fif even suggested French and Diddy were gay.

It appears Diddy felt some type of way about French showing up with 50 at Summer Jam. He posted a message on IG that said, “Never forget who was there for you when no one else was.”

(AllHipHop News) Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert is known for performers entertaining the crowd by bringing out surprise guests. Chris Brown’s set featured a definite unexpected moment when longtime rivals French Montana and 50 Cent stood on the same stage together.

The G-Unit head and the Coke Boys leader have been in a feud for years. The two New York City rappers threw shots at each other this past March after 50 continued his Instagram assault against French’s Bad Boy boss Diddy.

It appears they have been able to reconcile enough since that time to at least share the same space at MetLife Stadium for Brown’s performance. 50 ran through “What Up Gangsta” and “Many Men.” Followed by French hitting his “Hot N*gga (Remix).”

Snoop Dogg Catching Heat For Comments Directed At Camera Woman (VIDEO)

“I like your camera girl, too. She’s thick. ” said Snoop about the woman behind the camera. “Damn, I wasn’t even looking down. Now I’m forced to look down at the camera… Look at the sh*t on that critter.”

Stephanie Clattenburg of CBC was asked about the California native’s reaction to her figure. She admitted her opinion on the situation changed over time.

“It was creepy and awkward, but I just laughed it off, stated Clattenburg. “Then later on I realized, why does he get a free pass because he’s a rapper?

Clattenburg’s colleague, reporter Elizabeth McMillan, also addressed Snoop’s comments, “It was uncomfortable. In retrospect I wish I handled it differently. But it felt like a no-win situation. So I just gritted my teeth and tried to get through.”

Some news outlets in Canada and individuals on social media are criticizing Snoop for making what they call sexist comments and perpetuating male dominance over two women. Snoop Dogg has yet to respond. He was in Nova Scotia filming episodes for the Trailer Park Boys.

“Just because I expect it doesn’t mean I have to accept it,” added Clattenburg.

New Jersey State Police & Hot 97 Release Statements Following Tear Gas & Arrests At Summer Jam (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) New York City radio station Hot 97 held its annual Summer Jam concert last night (June 7). The 2015 edition of the Hip Hop event was partially overshadowed by several arrests made outside MetLife Stadium.

The State Police issued the following statement yesterday.

This evening, security personnel at one of the entrance gates to MetLife Stadium were confronted by crowds attempting to illegally enter the sold out Summer Jam concert by climbing over fences and forcing their way through security personnel. Arrests Made At Hot 97’s Summer Jam

There have reportedly been several arrests at Hot97’s Summer Jam Concert at MetLife Stadium tonight.

New Jersey State Police has sent out more officers donning riot gear to help with the crowd, according to New York’s local ABC News.

Other reports have suggested that attendees have pelted the police with bottles and other items. Pepper spray has been released into the crowd, according to sources.

Some social media posts have suggested that all ticket holders were not admitted to the venue and were also not granted a refund immediately.

In the comments section on a news site said:

“This story is not accurate. I was there and someone pulled out a gun. My tickets were over $350 and I spoke to the insurance department. Ticket master over sold the tickets ……. I was standing in one section and they grouped everyone in another section while a helicopter was hovering like they knew something would happen because of this situation. I just arrived back at my hotel and I don’t remember seeing police in gear. I was ducking in diving behind cars like I was in a video game.”

Chet Haze Wanted By London Police

Tom Hanks’ son Chet Haze is wanted by London Police for allegedly trashing a hotel room.

The rapper reportedly caused £1,200 worth of damage.

The authorities were called in over the weekend when workers saw that the flatscreen TV had been torn from the wall and shattered glass covered the floor.

Some have speculated that a recent interview from his former friend Scrilla King set Chet off. Scrilla conducted an exclusive interview with AllHipHop that discussed young Hanks’ alleged cocaine use, the N-Word and other matters.

Rich Homie Quan, Mick Jagger, Rape and Misogyny: The Double Standard of Race and Rape

“Even though my skin’s kinda light/means my ancestors were raped by somebody white…”

“I’m Black” -Styles P

Over the past few weeks, black rapper Rich Homie Quan has taken a lot of heat because of lyrics of two songs (and counting) that glorify the rape of women.

And rightly so. If Rich Homie Quan showed up at my crib trying to date my daughter, I’d drop kick him out the front door. But what is ironic is that at the same time, Mick Jagger and his Rolling Stones are re-releasing what could, arguably, be called the most racist , misogynistic record of all time and folks are praising it it like the Second Coming.

In 1971, The Rolling Stones released a song called “Brown Sugar” off of their “Sticky Fingers” album which was about the rape of a slave girl by her white master. According to some sources the original title was supposed to be Black P*****. And because that song was so well received, a few years later Mick and the boys recorded Some Girls as an encore which contained the lyrics “black girls just want to f****.” While some may argue that this is ancient history, what is problematic is that the “Sticky Fingers” album featuring “Brown Sugar” is being re-released June 9 during a hip hop era when many Black male rappers have been demonized for their misogynist lyrics by feminist groups. You mean to tell me while there is all this outcry over Rich Homie Quan’s songs, no tears are being shed over this?

I remember back in the day folks were outraged over Luke Campbell and the 2 Live Crew’s ‘Nasty as they Wanna Be’ records. And a few years ago, women’s groups caused Rick Ross to lose his Reebok deal (as he should have) because of his verse on “U.N.O.E.N.O,” where he rapped about date-raping a woman after he slipped a Molly in her drink.

Don’t get me wrong, Black rappers should be criticized, but so should white rockers. There seems to be a dirty little double standard at play here, Sexual assault is a very serious issue in this country and is not taken lightly. When was the last time you saw a Cosby Show rerun on tv? However, we cannot allow Black men to be the poster boys for misogyny while white men like Mick Jagger are given hood passes.

This country gets historical amnesia when it is convenient and will flip and go “post racial” on you in a heartbeat anytime you bring up the atrocities of the past. But there is a long history of white men sexually assaulting Black women in this country with impunity that goes back to slavery. It continues today – check out some ongoing issues with NYPD and sexual harassment.  Lets not even get started on real life molesters like Josh Duggar. And to glorify that in a song should be denounced, especially by feminist groups that are quick to call Black men onto the carpet.

Where are the women’s groups threatening to picket classic rock stations if they play “Brown Sugar: on the radio. Where are the feminist groups threatening to burn their bras in effigy at every stop of the Rolling Stones’ current Zip Code tour?

I can’t help but think that some of the outrage over Rich Homie Quan and other rappers might be part of a clandestine plot by the She-Woman Black Male Haters Club to cause division between Black men and women. These are very serious times for African Americans in this country , as both Black men and Black women are being shot down by the Po-Po. Now more than ever we need to heed Queen Latifah’s call for U-N-I-T-Y. And one thing that we should be united against is “Brown Sugar.” Like Public Enemy said on Revolutionary Generation: “R-E-S-P-E-C-T/ my sister’s not my enemy.”
