Jay Z Alleges Other Companies Are Conducting A “Smear Campaign” Against Tidal + Addresses Elitist Perception Of The Service

(AllHipHop News) The high-profile, artist-owned streaming platform known as Tidal re-launched just a month ago, but the service has already faced negative media reports about its slow start and criticism for its $20 hi-fi premium price.

Tidal has attracted new users thanks in part to its exclusive content such as new videos from Beyoncé and Rihanna and access to live streams of events like J. Cole’s upcoming concert and Throne Boxing’s “Ward vs Smith.” However, after ranking at #78 on Apple’s App Store two weeks ago, the Tidal application dropped out of the top 750 last week.

In an attempt to right the ship for his new venture, the company’s part owner/public face Jay Z sent out a series of tweets on Sunday addressing the public perception issues surrounding his new venture. The Hip Hop mogul even contends other companies have conducted a “smear campaign” against Tidal. He also lays out the platform’s support of independent artists.

D.O.C. Reunited With 5 Platinum Plaques

N.W.A. affiliate D.O.C. received some great news when five of his platinum plaques popped up at a Texas pawn shop.

The D.O.C., who released the classic album No One Can Do It Better, was one of the writers that helped propel the Compton-based rap crew to the top of the charts.

Social media helped get the plaques back to the OG and he made several thank you’s on Twitter.

The albums, which were engraved with his name, showed up at Top Cash Pawn in Plano, TX about five years ago. It wasn’t until recently did the owner refurbish the items and put them on the wall. They were never mean to be sold, however.

According to Taylor Packwood of Top Cash, said that a fan of N.W.A. was upset that the plaques were in a pawn shop. Shortly thereafter, he received a call from The D.O.C., real name Tracy Curry.

Exactly what albums represented the million sold was not disclosed, but D.O.C. has been vital to the success of Eazy-E when he was with Ruthless Records and Dr. Dre when he established Deathrow and Aftermath.

Lil Wayne’s Tour Bus Shot Up

Lil Wayne’s tour bus was shot Sunday morning, according to reports.

The shooting occurred around 3:30am, shorting after the rapper left club Compound in Atlanta. Wayne had just performed and his caravan was departing the venue.

Nobody was injured, according to TMZ. There has been no indication on how many rounds were inserted into the bus either.

After the shooting, Wayne’s people drove to a motel and notified the police. An investigation has started.

Dave Chappelle Crowd Demands Refund

Hundreds of angry fans are demanding refunds after a Detroit performance many are calling a drunken disaster. Multiple people in the crowd, during Thursday night’s 9:30 show at the Fillmore, say a seemingly wasted Chappelle took the stage an hour late and told very few jokes. Instead, he sat quietly smoking, rambling, and slurring his speech.

Diddy In Rush Hour 4?

This is weird. Diddy seems to be starring in a new, updated version of the Rush Hour franchise, but there will be no Chris Tucker or Jackie Chan.

The fervor started when Diddy posted a Billboard on Instagram, prompting the news. At the time of this writing, nothing had been confirmed about “Rush Hour 4 with Face/Off 2.”

Additionally, the posting explicitly stated that Diddy’s co-star would be Byung-hun Lee.

A powerful, 7.9-magnitude earthquake shook Nepal’s capital and the densely populated Kathmandu Valley before noon Saturday, collapsing houses and leveling centuries-old temples in the worst quake in the Himalayan nation in over 80 years. Thousands of Nepalese citizens spent the night outdoors following the devastating earthquake which killed at least 2,000 people. Mountaineering officials say the quake triggered avalanches which killed at least 17 people on Mount Everest – in the worst ever disaster on the peak.

Diddy is promoting and putting money down on the biggest money fight ever – Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao, which goes down in a week.

In an Instagram post with actor Mark Wahlberg, he let it be known. In a video with the actor, they made it happen with a bit of promotion of Aquahydrate.

“I’m rolling with The Money Team! @MarkWahlberg said he got Pacquiao! Watch this and tell me who you got!?”

Wahlberg is going with Pac Man, while Diddy is putting money on Mayweather.

“Trap Queen” may be a questionable approach to a solid relationship, but his ex-girlfriend says there are no questions about him as a father.

On Instagram, Fetty’s child’s mother Reese oozed over him and their ability to co-parent their son.

“This goes to show you that you don’t have to be with someone to still have a great bond an family 11years now an still going #greatparents#coparents#friends#family(why they gotta be yellow tho? Where the mixed emoji?),” Reese said.

“Trap Queen,” the song, is reportedly an homage to Reese.
