Kanye West’s “Only One” Was Inspired By A Beatles Song

Sometimes, the biggest songs are inspired by more than the sound. That’s even true for Kanye West, who was inspired to make “Only One” after hearing Paul McCartney’s story of making “Let it Be”. According to Complex, the formal Beatles member said that he wrote the single after seeing his mother in a dream, saying the words “Don’t worry, it’s all going to be fine, just let it be”. McCartney’s mom passed away prior to him writing “Let it be”.

Kanye and Paul McCartney have recently been in news since for their collaborations. So far, we’ve heard them release “FourFiveSeconds”,”Only One”, and the hit single “All Day”.

Klassik- Summer EP

Weston Rich 8 (1)

Back in February, I wrote an article about the up-and-coming Milwaukee artist Klassik and his Spring EP. A lot of things have changed since then. First off, The Milwaukee Bucks were decimated by The Chicago Bulls in a crushing 120-66 loss to end their playoff hopes. But just in case you were for some reason unlucky enough to have ties to a city no one else really cares about, there is hope. Klassik have followed up their solid Spring EP with the appropriately title Summer EP.

While Klassik is already a well-established imprint in Milwaukee, the artist is quickly In addition to Allhiphop, the duo is quickly receiving attention from the most established names in Hip Hop media, such as The Source, Papercut, and even The Huffington Post (kinda a big deal).

Long days, warm nights. Vibrant and full of life, the summer season is a time for celebration. Escaping from the glaring cold of Winter, and drying off after the “reign” of Spring, Summer brings freedom and happiness. A creative climax in the artistic psyche, the sounds of this season are grander and lush; flowers in bloom or swelling strings, this is beauty epitomized. Play these at high volume, optimized for warm nights with windows or tops down.

Summer EP is more of a genuine look into the inner motivations that directly influence Klassik’s output. He seems to treat every song as personal soundboards, where he isn’t hesitant to share his innermost thoughts while paying meticulous attention to structure and the overall sonic effect simultaneously. “F#### With Us” is the pinnacle of these efforts, a smooth harmony that exquisitely compliments Klassik’s confessional, offbeat style. In my original article, I talked at length about Klassik’s adept harmonizing talent, but the beautiful fusing of rhyming/rapping makes for an enjoyable listening experience. “Never Belong” is a top-notch execution of these sentiments, allowing Klassik ample room to stretch his vocal chords as well as floss his lyrical abilities.

My only grip with Klassik is that his releases, although speedy, are hardly enough to satiate the appetite. Like his Spring EP, his Winter EP features only three songs. Fans can only hope that someday soon the Milwaukee emcee will construct a full mixtape/album to capitalize on his steadily increasing hype. In the meantime, we picky music vultures can content ourselves with the plethora of music Klassik has released to the interwebs. As always, make sure to track his interweb movements. You can stream the entire Summer EP below.

Pitch Perfect 2 Hits Atlanta

Members of the cast of the new film, PITCH PERFECT 2, introduced the movie for the first time in Atlanta to a packed house at a advance screening hosted by Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta TV personality, Kandi Burruss. Cast members in attendance included Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee, and Flula Borg who were excited about visiting Atlanta on the first leg of their press tour for the highly anticipated new sequel. Dean, Borg, and Lee also hosted a press conference for the film at the legendary Patchwerk Studios.

The Barden Bellas are back in “Pitch Perfect 2,” the follow-up to summer 2012’s smash hit. The comedy will be helmed by Elizabeth Banks, co-star and producer of “Pitch Perfect,” and produced by Paul Brooks, Max Handelman and Banks. Writer Kay Cannon returns to the team to pen the next chapter.

At the press conference Dean, Lee, and Borg shared their experience filming the sequel to the popular film, and they chronicled their transition from the first film to the sequel.

Ester Dean stated:

“We were babies the first time, but this time they took more risks. We are the avengers of acapella. We have a sequel because fans wanted a sequel. It resonates so well because it represents the true make up of society and everyone can connect to music.”

The transition from songwriter to actress was hard the first time for Dean because she said she doubted herself, thinking she was only supposed to be songwriting. The second time around she was like “I’m an actress now.” She also stated that she always wanted to do voice overs. The cast actually didn’t get to pick the ’90s scenes but they were like “hell yeah” and nostalgic. Hana Mae Lee stated that producer Elizabeth Banks is super good with improv, and she let them do their own thing.

“Comedy is important to trust the actors, be organic, and break away from the script,” said Lee.

The cast also shared that they prepared for the dances for 3 weeks. They admitted it was pretty hard dancing with Usher’s choreographer. Flula Borg shared that he always planned to transition from YouTube and use it to lead him to other opportunities in the entertainment world such as Pitch Perfect. Pitch Perfect 2 will be in theaters Friday May 15th. Check out more photos from both events. Photos by Paras Griffin/ Prince Williams/Wire Image.

Music Review: Master P & Money Mafia “Hustlin”

“Bout it, bout it!” “Uuuggghhh!!!” “You heard me?” You know the voice just soon as you hear his outspoken bayou drawl and Calio Third Ward project lingo. And with good reason. Master P is motive behind the survival of so many Southern-based independent rap record labels going back to the 90s.

Master P is the reason why rappers could look major label distributors square in the face and ask for million-dollar deals better than what Ray Charles got. Master P was the one-man marketing team that showed rappers not only the business of rap but how to become businesses themselves.

From serving “ice cream” on the block to mansions with yachts and million-dollar stocks, Percy “Master P” Miller is a hustler to his bone gristle. And his latest mixtape with crew Money Mafia describes what the Colonel does best: Hustlin. With a bevy of bumping, bass-heavy beats, No Limit’s guaranteed ghetto grit and more tracks than your favorite rapper’s entire album, Master P gives a reminder to how he turned a small record shop into a dynasty in Southern hip-hop.

On the R&B-tinged first track “U Ain’t Gotta,” P sets it off smooth in this mid-tempo serenade to the perfect mob princess. But he ain’t in his feelings for long. The very next track “Turn My Life Around” is the hustler’s ambition of making nothing into something over a ballerific blend of piano chords sprinkled across slapping snares and hard-hitting cymbal crashes.

And on “Talk to My Drum,” P shows that just because he’s HNIC, that still doesn’t mean he’s afraid to get his hands dirty. Atop acoustic guitar riffs and driving 808s competing with ricocheting rim shots, P moans:

You think it’s sweet ‘round here/ Make you talk to my drum/ I ain’t in the band/ But I carry a drum.

Yesterday Apr 30, 2015 T.E.C. native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana one of the hottest young MC’s out and front man on the Money Mafia was released from prison. Fan’s have been waiting the arrival of the young superstar but today he is a changed man ready to get back in the studio and crank out the hits and is a great timing to celebrate the success of the Money Mafia mixtape.

P and the No Limit posse put weak ones in their places as they flip an interpolation of Whodini’s 1980 Golden Era classic “I’m a Hoe” on the super slick “You a Hoe Boy.” Other standout cuts are the politically charged “Freedom of Speech,” “Nobody Else” and the dramatic, heart-pumping “Yeah Actin Bad.” Overall this is nothing short of what we came to expect from Mr. Miller. From beginning to end, this is another stellar installment to the legacy of No Limit.

Overall: 8.5/10
